  • Riding solo in this installment of Spare Tires! I take a sweet 2006 Ducati Multistrada 1000 S DS for a rip around the neighborhood. In addition, I give my professionally unprofessional opinions on a few random motorcycling topics.

    I bought mine new in 2006. The looks are a little polarizing but I have loved the thing almost 60K miles worth and I still have it. My wife has ridden with me on some great trips. She has been with me >15K miles and it has been comfortable. The maintenance hasn't been bad at all. A good ride does indeed make the world right again. Nice job!

      How reliable are they? How often are you doing valves and belts?

    Yeah, the Zen factor is all that matters. Just sold my Multi 620 going for DS1000. What a bike... Great video mate!!

    Gloves save hands don’t you know! And rev limiters save valves but these don’t like reving too much so just use that nice torque to make swift progress. Yep we all make mistakes but better to learn from someone else who’s already made them! 😵‍💫

    I bought my 2006 1000DS 10 years ago with less than, 7000Km on the clock. I have done, 11000 Ks on since. So heading for 28000KM. I do my own maintenance except for valve adjustment, which I just can't get my head around.
    I love it to bits, it's a great bike, and it will be the last road bike I ever buy at 66yrs of age although i do have a 2001 KTM 640 Adventure, if I could get another DS1000 to convert to an adventure bike I would flcik fof the adventure and use a Ducati DS1000 for my off roading adventure.
    I love the "it's like riding on a couch" it sure it, but it's a damn fast couch!

    Is that the clutch that’s making that wonderful clanking sound??

  • @d1daveoh

    The S model in black all day long unless you have problems with your left hand as the clutch pull is very stiff. Aftermarket clutch slave cylinders don't help enough. Great bike!

    The damn plastic tank is the weak link. Cant use ethanol fuel in it without risk of swelling and damage.

    Still technically just a V twin. Not an L you know since the barrels and heads are the same length unlike an L.... 😂

    • @KingCast65
      @KingCast65 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No-no... the L simply refers to the 90 degree arrangement that eliminates the need for balance shafts.

    • @porkbunassassin2295

      @@KingCast65 its still concidered a V configuration. L is actually not an option. Using L is made up by random people. Even Ducati says its a V
