1. Maintain a good GPA (quite simple). 2. When PSATs start rolling in, make sure you take them, and study for them even though it's practice. 3. Do a good amount of extracurricular activities that YOU actually enjoy (try to take part in some leadership). 4. Think about what's going to be on your personal statement ahead of time. 5 Don't fuck up freshman and sophomore year like I did. 6. Sorry for this 5 month late comment.
Tiffany, I am so sorry! Admissions are such a crapshoot! I work in the USC admissions office and I know damn well how many issues pop up with applications submitted, especially for transfers. There's no like formal tutorial for how to do any of it so it's SO easy to make one little mistake! That's why I did my best to make college app advice videos so that people would have some sort of instructions when applying. That being said, information on transferring is soooo hard to find. I definitely stand by your decision not to go back to Loyola! Higher education is a HUGE investment of both time and money, so spending it wisely on a school that's healthy for you is the right way to go. 100% submit appeals with this new information. The squeakiest wheel gets the grease, and in this case you have a major reason for why they may have overlooked you. They also may be underestimating the impact of your TH-cam channel! Also, I know you might not want to go to a CC given that you've already completed the necessary units to transfer, but that's what my sister did and they prepare you really well to be compatible for the UCs (she's at SB right now). I was awaiting which school you'd be at and am so upset that this process failed you! It can affect your self-esteem in crazy ways but just know your worth is in no way measured by this.
of course, katherine watches tiffany. also you are both doing amazing things on youtube and i hope that you find success either here or elsewhere because i can tell you both work sooo hard toward your goals
I don't get why she doesn't finish what she started at Loyola. She could probably finish her degree there within a couple years, then do whatever she wants. That seems like the logical route.
that's true, but that's thinking short term. people who finish their degree make huge sums more over their lifetime. but i don't think she should go to a school she's unhappy in. I think she should either go to CC to get credits and stay on track, or wait a semester and reapply then.
I think I'd still go back even if I didn't like it there. I'd just want to get that degree as soon as possible, then I could move back to California to pursue my graduate degree or whatever. That's just me, though. Everyone has different preferences.
No that's not an issue because at least in my case they only transferred 60 or 70 credits/units. Also for example if she was transferring 60 credits/units but since it's an out of state school only 40 are transferrable and maybe that's why she didn't meet the junior standing
Well it's really a personal decision because if she stays in school she doesn't have to pay for the loans and being at a California CC will give her a better chance at getting into the schools that she wants. Plus, if she qualifies for the BOG waiver her classes are covered for.
Maybe she could just go for that one semester at CC and then transfer. But yeah stopping school would mean she would have to start repaying soooooo lmao
Girl go to a California CC. That's exactly what I did. I just got into every university I applied to, including UCLA and UCB. UCs prioritize ca cc students! Goodluck :)
carly is it true also if you go to an LA cc that they lower the gpa standard since after a year you become a la resident like the uc's around me like if your out of county the gpa requirement is a little higher but in county the minimum is like a 3.0-3.2 ?
Veronica Reyes, nah don't rely on rumors/myths like out of county gpa requirements. aim for 3.5+ gpa at a california cc and you're pretty much set for AT LEAST ucsb/ucsd. 3.7+ should set you for ucla/ucb
if you write an appeal i definitely think you will get into santa cruz. you have the grades. one senior in my class's mom literally called/emailed (i forget which one) University of Cinci and said they made a mistake not accepting her daughter and they literally said "okay" and accepted her lol. if you show interest after being denied and fix all your info i think you're going to be fine!
The reason you were rejected is because a lot of your Loyola units will not transfer over to a UC or CalState since it's out-of-state units. I know this bc I too tried to transfer from a 4-year college in New York back to my home state of California. I was quickly told that my credits from that 4-year will not transfer to any UCs and I needed to complete the units in a California community college if I wanted to transfer. Happy I learned this early on because I am now about to graduate UCLA in 4 weeks.
aruytpadyugf Damn, I'm in bmcc right now, liberal arts, in NYC and I want to go to ucla film school. So would I get rejected if I applied straight forward? What if I transfer to a ccc would my credits transfer through?
Yes, you would unfortunately get rejected bc ucla will not recognize your credits as transferable. If you transfer to a california cc, the majority of your new york credits will also not be transferred.
Fuck, all that time wasted I'm already 21 and by the time I finish c.c in California I'll be like 24 or 25, then add two more years of film school and I'll be old. But I heard a degree in film doesn't have much value though, it's talent not paper that their looking for, or so they say (film grads and film makers). Idk, like I really want to experience what dorming at UCLA feels like as well as the ambient. Pretty much the reason I want to go, cuz for scriptwritting I'm set to take a class on the upcoming fall semester, which would be my 5th.
I would say that you should stay in new york to continue your degree. Yes, experience is what matters the most. Not what school you graduated. However, ucla offers 6-week summer classes for film which you can take for credit (I'm sure they would transfer to your school) and you get the whole dorming experience with it. The program is called the UCLA Film & Television Summer Institute, anyone who applies gets in. You don't have to be a ucla student.
girl. applications have become a crapshoot, honestly the whole parliamentary decision shit that goes on in any undergrad applications, graduate applications is just bs now. dont think anything is your fault, its not. ive heard way too many stories of how the system effs with people. not to mention takes a buttload of money from broke kids for these applications. keep your head up, you're beautiful and smart, if it takes a little more of a struggle, itll just be sweeter when you make it :)
IF YOU'RE HERE BECAUSE YOU'RE A WORRIED HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT, take some advice from someone who's been at her dream college for years! And if you have questions or comments, reply, and I'll do my best to answer :) #1. STANDARDIZED TESTS: don't accept your ACT/SAT score. Your first try is a starting point, not an ending point. If you didn't get a perfect score, then you can improve, and you'll be so glad if you do (seriously. I raised my score by 7 points). Get one of those books full of practice tests and do a few of them (yes, with the time constraints) and you'll start to see patterns in the tests. That'll help you figure out how to study for them, and you'll feel more comfortable when you take the test for real. If you can afford it, take a class on the ACT/SAT. And go ahead, take the tests a few times! I took it 8 times, no shame! #2. ESSAYS: get help. You can labor over an essay for weeks and feel 100% confident about it, but you don't know how other people will interpret it. Most people get their parents' help, but I went a step further by asking my English teachers to look it over. They know so much more about college essays than you and your family, since they've seen them a billion times. This really really helped me. Plus there are tons of books out there on writing college app essays, and they're great resources. #3. EXTRACURRICULARS: lots of people get this wrong. Yes, join some clubs and some sports or whatever. It's important to have SOMEthing, but you don't need a ton of stuff. I had only a handful of extracurriculars. The point is that you keep with them all 4 years and that (if you can) you get leadership positions. But more important than that: don't waste your summers. It's tempting to sit around all summer, but you need to go do some stuff you can write down for colleges. That doesn't mean it has to be miserable stuff; I had fantastic summers in high school. Go out and apply for some summer programs that are related to the fields you might want to work in. There are TONS of these, and they're actually not that competitive. You could also get an internship. This is better than a summer job because it relates to your future career, and that impresses colleges. But of course a summer job is much better than nothing. If you're up for it, take some summer classes at a college or even be an exchange student for the summer (seriously, the best summer of my life. Google AFS, you won't regret it). #4. RECOMMENDATIONS: befriend your teachers. Don't suck up; just be their friend. Let them know you care about their classes. When you have questions, it's great to try to answer them yourself or text your friends. But try emailing your teachers or asking them in person. Ask them for extra practice problems or other things that will help you learn the material. Be alert in class. If you're comfortable, talk to them about more personal things. These things aren't sucking up. They're taking an active approach to learning, which is fun and very rewarding in the long run. Plus your teachers will say wonderful things about you in your recommendations. #5. APPLICATIONS: be pessimistic. I applied to thirteen colleges. Excessive, yes, but it's much safer if you apply to not one, not two, but as many safety schools as you can muster. And then apply to a bunch of middle-of-the-road schools. And then on top of that, have several reaches. Recognize that no matter who you are, you aren't the best applicant in the world. You've messed up and gotten some bad grades. You've wasted a summer or two. So don't just apply to schools with a
One thing with only applying to transfer to CA public schools is that they give priority to CA community college students and it's really hard to get in as an out of state student :( hope it all works out
Don't know how it works where you are but if your drivers license still has your residence of the state you're from you're not technically an out of state student. Unless she changed her address from CA to LA she shouldn't have that problem.
Even if you are a CA resident going to an out of state school and trying to transfer in from that out of state school, it puts you at a super low priority. California community college students get number one priority.
You should look into if you could study through Loyola online until you get another opportunity to transfer. That way you could move to California but still stay in school. There are also some good film schools in New York and Boston if you're interested but I figure California is way more ideal. I'm so sorry this happened to you and I truly hope everything works out for you.
Santa Barbara City College (Beautiful on Ocean Cliffside) has GUARANTEED TRANSFER into UCSB and they allow to pass class by testing through and experience. etc. it's the best and small classes, really nice. And you'll save money for 1 or 1.5 years.
not Joking about guarantee. it's written into City laws because locals wanted to make it easier for their kids to get college education to give up that land they are on.
I think the reason you didn't get in is because UC's and CalStates pretty much only accept transfers from CA CC's and you have to follow a formula of certain courses to get in-those classes are not offered at private schools. There's a website that lists the classes and the schools that are their priority. That's their top priority and then they filter it out from there. It sucks that its so messed up for transfers to get in to those schools-especially because private schools like USC and other private schools are so expensive. :/ Have you looked at Chapman? They have an amazing film program and offer great financial aid!
Kathleen Frejoles assist.org let's you know which classes you need for a specific major. This sucks for undecided majors though. If you're undecided it's recommend you follow the IGETC plan for CSUs and UCs.
Yes the IGETC is the formula you speak of, the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum, that is used by the UC schools for students at a California Community College who want to transfer in (not sure about the CSUs though...). It is made up of all the General Education requirements you need to do before moving up to the Upper Division classes for your chosen major. It is worth about 60 semester units, which translates to about 90 quarter units (since every UC school except Berkeley goes by quarters), so you will be a junior (3rd year) once you transfer in from a community college.
@Lizeth I would say definitely go to Academic Counseling at Murphy Hall (registrar's office) and talk to a counselor there, and they will describe to you a potential Articulation Agreement between UCLA and USC. And then go over to the Registrar's office at USC and ask for the same thing, a four-year transfer student Articulation Agreement. An articulation agreement is a list of required classes needed to transfer (as if you were starting as a community college student) but since you are already a four-year undergrad, they can tell you what class units transfer and count between the two for your major (which would be Extremely ideal for you to know since you want to switch schools, as they are trying to take in as many freshmen or CC transfers as possible and Rarely any other four-year transfers) and everything you need to do to apply, etc.
Thats the one thing california helps its students out with lmao they accept more out of state students straight out of high school so to make up for it they accept mostly only ca community transfers
You'll pull through don't worry! But Im glad you aren't letting it get to you too much. Always keep a smile on your face 😊 I wish you the best Tiffany!
I understand how you feel because that's what happened to me for Medical school last year :( now I'm a med student in France, plus it's cheaper here ! I know staying in France was a joke, but I just wanted to let you know that it is actually an option :) best of luck, don't be sad ! xx
Hi, just wondering how are you doing this? Are you studying abroad or with an actual university? I'd love any information as I'm super interested in school abroad 😊
Radka Hi, I’m a french med school student. It depends on the school but it’s usually « low » like 150,200,300 euros per year :) I have a scholarship so it’s entirely free for me
I AM SO FRUSTRATED FOR YOU!! Its so dumb to me that your own STATE SCHOOLS will reject someone who is obviously qualified? I had errors with my financial aid (my mom wrote that she made 7 million dollars a year) and it was so stressful so I can imagine how you're feeling. Definitely appeal so you know you've done absolutely everything and won't have any regrets later on. Good luck I really hope everything works out for you
hey the same thing just happened to me, my academic counselor reviewed my credits wrong (i started at a school with the quarter system) and i ended up being 1.5 units too short for the UCs. I got rejected everywhere.
I’m going through the same thing right now, my counselor calculated my units wrong so I was .07 units away from the minimum to transfer so I got denied from UCSB, UCB and UCSC, currently working on my appeals rn :/ wish me luck
DAMN LUCK in Australia we have this thing called OP or Rank sort of like GPA i guess and if you don't get a good OP or Rank your life is OVER not even joking!!!
I feel like the UK is more competitive than the US and deffo more competitive than France, you need a minimum of ABB to even be considered by our top unis lol
They first give priority to CC's in CA and then transfers from one UC to another and THEN out of state. My advise would be to appeal as hard as you can even call admissions and talk to a counselor and THEN if you still are not accepted go to CC in LA and transfer to UCLA! or SBCC to UCSB (they have a guaranteed transfer program). HOPE THIS HELPS I LOVE YOU AND HOW VULNERABLE YOU ARE!
Hey! Check out UBC in Vancouver, British Columbia. Or Vancouver Film School is a really good one as well. I know you said that LA is where the industry is but Vancouver is as well! Lots of film production here. Always an option! Lots of vegan places here as well haha
Tiffany, I'm so sorry. I was actually rejected from UCLA transfer this year as well, trying to get out of my shitty east coast school. They were this big dream and have an amazing bio psychology program. It hurts, and I know it's this gross ache right now, and if anyone deserves to go to the school they want, it's you. I'm sorry, I really don't know what to say :(
This sounds as if this may be a cautionary tale about transfer applications, particularly in regards to applications to California public colleges. Somewhere toward the end of your video, you remarked that one of the letters of rejection you received included a blurb that, honestly, where you seemed to gloss it over, in my view may very well have been THE reason that you were rejected by every school to which you applied - even the CSU's. There is a non-negotiable criteria mandated for ALL CSU and UC transfer applicants: (1) You must must MUST transfer as a junior, which means you have completed AT LEAST 60 semester (90 quarter) units of lower division (through sophomore standing) coursework. (2) What it also means is that virtually EVERY school you applied to requires that lower level work be completed across a general education "breadth" - certain English, "Math", Science, etc. classes (for example, UC's require at least a completed foreign language level, while CSU's require a SPECIFIC sort of communication course, namely, speech.) From what I understand, you cannot be more than one (possibly two) courses shy of completing a very specific template of courses, or your application will be AUTOMATICALLY rejected. (For UC Berkeley, the 60 unit as well as the GE OR "IGETC" breadth requirement absolutely MUST be completed - NO exceptions - or your application will not even be considered.) (3) You CANNOT complete any remaining courses during the summer before you transfer - even if you are accepted for a Winter or Spring transfer. At Berkeley, even if you are accepted, if an audit of your final transcript before enrollment reveals some missing component (a required course not completed) your admission WILL be rescinded. You will have to wait until the next application cycle (usually during October/November, except at the few CSU's - NO UC's - that except Winter or Spring admissions) (4) If your major is "impacted" (highly sought after majors, which yours was) these requirements are even more strictly applied when admissions decisions are determined (for example, it may be absolutely true, UC Berkeley or otherwise, that you must have completed ALL lower level GE classes and ALL lower level major course prep work.) I've worked with a number of individuals to help them ensure that they have dotted all i's and crossed all t's on their applications for a few years of late. One particular protege of mine was accepted 8 for 8, to 4 UCs and 4 CSUs - including Berkeley. I point this out, not to brag, but to offer my credentials, that I have first hand knowledge of how to navigate the application process for California public colleges, including helping students ensure they have taken classes that are guaranteed to transfer before they apply. Footnote: A pretty important one - because you have already attended a four year college, you would need to be VERY CAREFUL about taking classes at a community college for transfer. If someone who applies to transfer has taken even one unit at a four year school, almost all CSU and UC colleges apply what is called a maximum attempt limit - if you have already attempted more than 90 units, EVEN IF ONLY ONE UNIT WAS ATTEMPTED AT THE FOUR YEAR SCHOOL, EVEN IF IT WAS A LOWER DIVISION CLASS (Freshman or Sophomore level), they will almost certainly reject your application as exceeding transfer credit limits - ESPECIALLY for impacted majors. So many folks are trying to get into California colleges, it is paramount that you are fully versed in all the loopholes that could trip up an application. It sounds very much as if you would never have been rejected by 8 schools, especially all the CSUs, unless something like what I just described was going on. Good Luck
I haven't even started the vid, i just want to say i love you and i'm sorry. I have absolutely no idea how it happened, or why. Good luck with your appeals. I'm basically bawling, no joke.
Tiffany!! The same thing happened to me with the Cal State system!! AHHHHH! I ended up applying to and committing to a private school where I got way better financial assistance. I hope things work out! Sending you positive energy!
I am a Cal State student that tried to transfer to a UC for my second year! First and foremost, there was no error. If there was an error, they would contact you. Also, if you go to a 4 year, UC's look at you as last priority no matter what. On top of being out of state, you are seriously last priority. They give out most of their acceptances to those who did the TAG for the universities (Transfer Admission Guarantee) from community college. A good option would be going to Santa Monica community college because they have the MAIN priority for UCLA transfer! Especially for film. UC's and Cal States are top tier. Even the Cal States you applied to are top tier, and are hard to get into. Especially CSUN and SDSU for film. Just go to community college, do a TAG program, and be at the school you desire to be!
Jasmine Rashidi Lol UCLA is so competitive that don't even have tag they use the TAP program lol. And with that it's still very hard depending on your major.
There's a possibility she could've applied for a non impacted major them transfer to film if she got accepted right? I applied for French to some cal states that are harder to get into hoping it would work out.
I know that everything will work out for you Tiffany. Life can be so unpredictable yet so expectedly disappointing sometimes, but there's no way you're going through all of this for no reason. I wish you the world and all of what you deserve!
I'm gonna tell you the same sentence that i said to others americans friends. Stay in France, it's cheaper and not so crazy. If you want to it's possible
I really admire you talking about this so openly. The situation is so fucked and I'm sorry that you're having to go through this. Something will work out. You will thrive, regardless of what happens. I ( and lot of other people) are here for you. Stay strong kiddo. You're great. Your future is bright.
Hi, I saw this come up on my recommended videos. I want to relate so much to you, when I first applied to colleges 4 years ago I was rejected from every UC except SB and SD (I ended up choosing a school out-of-state). I appealed to Cal and ended up getting rejected twice which broke my heart but now I attend a school that I love and could not imagine going anywhere else. I would recommend filing your appeals and seeing if you can go in the winter or spring, plead your case! The UCs are ridiculously stringent about admits, so don't give up. Don't listen to the people saying to stay because you should follow your heart and attend the schools that you want to go to. Don't give up, everything will fall into place! xoxo
I know it’s so late to write this comment, but a few hours ago I was informed that I will not be able to go to the university of my literal dreams and your video helped me a bit to feel less shitty about myself and the situation in general. I’m from Moscow, Russia and here we have an option of getting into uni for free if we pass the state exams with enough points. The number of points needed is usually very high and differs from uni to uni based on its prestige and quality of education. Some unis however need you to pass their internal exams and so does the uni I’ve been dreaming of for a year and a half. I decided to quit my previous uni (a less prestigious one and with a degree I really didn’t like) a year and a half ago, I found a part time job and worked my ass off to be able to pay for a preparation course to pass my state history exam and an internal history exam at the uni. And I’ve never in my life been good at history. I passed the state exam with 91 points out of 100 and was so happy to see the results of my studying! But today the results of the internal history exam came. I’ve got 47 out of 100 and I need at least 75 to enroll for free (I can’t afford to pay for a degree). There is no way I can pass the exam again this summer and I don’t want to waste another year of my life re-learning all of the same dates, historical facts and other staff just to get rejected once again. All of my friends are about to go into their third year of uni and here I am, a dropout with unrealistic expectations of myself and shuttered dreams, figuring a way out of this situation. I stall have a couple of days left to try to get into some other unis but they are not as prestigious and as strong when it comes to the quality of the education. You really helped me by sharing your unpleasant (to say the least) experience! I’m crying now but I’m gonna be ok just as you are now! Thank you!
there's no point in going straight to a 4-year school only to pay $40,000 more than you would if you just went to community college for 2 years then transfer.
why didn't you just apply to these schools the first time? not trying to be rude. just genuinely want to know your reason for leaving CA for New Orleans, especially when CA is the perfect place for film and creative minds.
Jamelyn james Sometimes people change their minds in terms of careers. Happens all the time. Every school advertises how we'll their programs are but you can't really tell the quality until your enrolled.
You realize France has several good formations in film production as well right ? and that it would cost you a LOT LESS to do it there, I don't know all the nitty gritty of highschool degree recognition in France coming from US, but definitely try that as well.
You’re the most really-real vlogger that I know. You really tell the whole human truth and speak from the heart no matter what it’s saying. I recently went back to grad school but before I got accepted I was having the same existential crisis, what am I gonna do with my life, is this all I’m with as a human being, moments. I kept getting rejected from every school and as someone whose worth was tied heavily into academia it was a slap to the face to be constantly told “You’re not good enough”. The pain just reverberates through you, even while you’re applying for the next school. And when you get rejected from that school the pain reverberates through you some more like a giant pair of anxiety bells that keep tolling and increasing with the more rejections you get... ...I felt your pain. It’s worse than the worst.
This popped up and I researched for the first time in ages and omg hilarious that Tiffany was making jokes about being a full time TH-camr but now is literally pursuing that. Life is funny.
I wanna take you out for drinks and drown you in self-fulfilling mantras and tell you how pretty and successful and well-meaning and DAMN HOT SHIT AMAZING you are! Shit did I really just say that? You'll be okay girl, promise. And if not, there's a friend in Dublin, Ireland very willing to drown your sorrows in pints and lols. We all have to go through mess to get to some form of happy productivity, and I guess this is one of many messes. I repeat, you'll be okay x
Wow thank you so much for this video. Honestly I know these are probably just meaningless words at the moment but it will be okay. Whenever shitty stuff like this happens in my life I try to remind myself that in the end you will figure everything out and laugh when you look back at this moment that you thought was the end of the world. I feel like we have pretty similar stories honestly... I'm going to be a junior next year as well. I never was ready for college but my parents pressured me to go straight after high school and I kind of just went along with it because I had no idea there was even another choice. In my family college is the next step and that is just a fact. I know I should be grateful for the fact that I even have the chance to further my education but I honestly was not mentally ready for the college experience. Freshman year I immediately regretted not taking a gap year and figuring out what I wanted to do instead of entering undecided and floating through random classes. I was definitely not ready for university and just ended up taking out unnecessary student loans for classes that I did not care about and was honestly pretty miserable the entire time. I am attending the state university about a half an hour from where I grew up, the school I swore I would NEVER end up at since the majority of graduates from my high school go there. I kept telling myself that I just needed to finish these 4 years and I could get through it just like I had gotten through high school but over time I just ended up feeling like this robot that did not have any control over her life and I did not feel like I was living but rather just existing. So I decided to study abroad. I was probably running away from my problems honestly, but it ended up being one of the best decisions I have ever made. I finally felt excited to wake up in the morning and the possibilities of my life and the future felt limitless. Last semester in Spain revived me but I dreaded returning to the U.S. and honestly, if you can, I would say stay in Europe!! For as long as you want. I am back at school now and clueless as ever as to wtf I'm doing with my life. Oh what I would do to be back exploring Spain... Anyway I think at the end of the day I try to tell myself that this is my story and these bumps are just what make it interesting. If our journeys went 100% the way we wanted them to they would be pretty boring and we probably would not be the people who we are now. Well...thanks again for this video. It's really nice to know that I am not the only person feeling like this. Sorry for this unnecessarily long post...
stay strong!! so terribly upset at this occurrence, but believe me with your dedication and hard work things will work out, even though it might not be what you originally planned or wanted. don't let things like these define you, you are stronger and will prevail. sending much love you're way.
Your attitude is going to take you far! I love that you have resolved that you will be okay no matter what, and I'm sure you have a plan to push forward. One of the most valuable lessons I learned in college was outside of the classroom, and that is there is not just one way to succeed. You got this, and you go girl!
seriously wish you the best luck!! don't worry about your future it all turns out okay and maybe just *maybe* it'll turn into a funny story one day :-)) have some hope ❤️❤️
I feel SO sorry for you. I just found this video randomly and I felt so stressed throughout the whole thing. I just want everything to be alright for you omg. Well, at least you got yourself a new subscriber. I love how funny and positive you stay throughout the video, even tho the situations sucks big time. You will be okay! From your attitude, I know you will pull through
And look at you now. All successful with a trending TH-cam channel: surpassing well over the majority of students your age. Living proof that college doesn't and will never define you. Keep up the great work. :)
I am so so sorry this happened to you Tiffany. You're obviously extremely bright and gifted and would have so much to offer all of those schools! Regardless of the shit situation, you still could not stop making me laugh i just about died when you said, "this is so dramatic.... but it FUCKING IS" so real i loved it
SDSU hardly takes anyone who LIVES IN SAN DIEGO.... Their transfer acceptance rate is JUST as competitive if not more than UCLA. They only accept 17% of transfers. And they prioritize students at a California community college.... CSUN minimum GPA if you're out of the Northridge area is a 3.7 your safety schools weren't really safe because they are just as competitive as the UCs
I can tell you as someone who transferred from UC Irvine to NYU in film production, worked in NY, LA, and SF, and now is a college prep consultant...you do NOT need a fancy film degree to make it in LA. Hardly! It's all about connections & skills. Period. You should move to LA, finish your BA online part-time, and dive into the business. Make connections, get PA work, and just start your career. By the time you're done with your BA, you'll already be established in the industry and your degree will be something you can fall back on if you leave the industry, but you won't need it to get "in" to the LA film industry. Good luck!
You are gorgeous omg throughout this whole vid I’m like HOW CAN SOMEONE LOOK THIS ANGELIC?? Also I’m sorry about the mistake in applications but I always say everything happens for a reason! I’m sure this is one of those moments
I'm in the transfer process right now so I totally get the position you're in. I'm so sorry this happened to you because it is already hard enough to get into the transfer process anyway! I really hope something works out for you, and it was really strong of you to make this video! Good luck!
You can and will get through this! Colleges look at more than just the papers they look at the person as well, you are a wonderful person but they may have not been able to tell by your transcripts and applications. Stay with it and good luck!
Tiffany, I've watched you for so long. As a college student, I understand where you're coming from. Everything works itself out eventually, sometimes it just takes a little longer/more work than you expected.
Honestly, considering you are already at a 4-year institution, you shouldn't be surprised you were rejected. Let me sum it up why its obvious you were rejected: 1. You're already at a 4-year institution. 2. You're not a California resident. 3. You're personal statements and reasons why you wanted to transfer to another 4-year institution were obviously not good enough. You applied to good Universities in California. Why would any of them reject a CC transfer student or high school student to accept you?
DementedEeyore64 This isn't true sweetie. THOUSANDS of college students around the ENTIRE country transfer schools each year. For a LOT of reasons. This isn't uncommon. 1. She can transfer schools. Its done ALL the time. chill. 2. You don't have to be a CA resident to attend the schools there? 3. There's no such thing as "not good enough" and she doesn't need an excuse to transfer schools. Idk if you're in the US but we're not assigned schools lol. Her reason for transferring from one school to the next had NOTHING to do with it. Now her reason for wanting to be considered in their program? Okay. I can see why they'd wanna know. You sound bitter and you sound like you're taking this personally?
cool kat This is 100% true, sweetie. Im not sure if understand what the process of applying to college is like because it seems as though you dont at all. 1. I am myself a transfer student currently going to UC Berkeley and was also accepted into UCLA. 2. I never once denied the fact that she or anybody else could transfer, so your reading comprehension is lacking there. 3. CA residents are favored and have a much higher likely-hood of being accepted, thats why I brought that up. You obviously are out of touch. 4. And yes, she does need a good enough reason for those universities to consider her. Listening to her video, it seems as though the only reason she wants to transfer is because “she doesnt like the vibes” of her current university. UC’s will want to know WHY shes transferring from a four-year institution (WHICH IS UNCOMMON). Rather than having a legitimate reason to transfer like trying to study a specific program thats offered at a UC thats not offered at her current University, she probably gave some vague frankly crapper answer as to why she wants to transfer. 5. Nobody is bitter or angry here other than you. You obviously read my post and took it personally and consequentially found it offensive. Im sorry you’re so misinformed and decided to interpret things within your radical universe.
@@DementedEeyore64 She said she grew up from Cali (even in the video she mentioned it was her home state) so if her parents still reside there and she still lists that as her permanent residence she would be a cali resident.. also I went through the transfer process coming from a 4 year big university to go to another 4 year university and got in to 2 out of 3 schools I applied to and I literally just wrote about how I valued the education and campus culture at my top choice school more than my current one for my personal statement. Maybe it's not about your facts, it's about your tact and how you say things.. this girl was rejected from all of her schools and you jump in saying her statements weren't good enough and "why would they reject another type of student to accept you". Not sure if you speak to people like that in real life, but good luck making connections in your workplace and getting promotions (even with that UC Berkeley degree) if you keep acting righteous and putting other people down.
I am so sorry, and I really truly wish you the absolute best. I can not imagine what it feels like, and I thank you for sharing this. It's really brave of you to be so courageous through such an awful time. Again, best wishes, and keep on fighting!
Hey Tiffany, I'm a fairly new subscriber but your videos really resonated with me. You still have a chance for UCSC so I'd say don't give up, see the mail, take whatever courses they throw at you and try again later.(I feel like I'm preaching a little, not my intention, sorry!) But no matter what you decide to do, know that a lot of people support you. It's gonna be okay, somehow :)
I feel so stressed for you and this is the first video I've ever seen from you. Your stress radiates through the screen but on the good side you are extremely pretty. Your skin is clear and your eyes being so blue make you look unique .
I had all my necessary credits and a 4.0 and was officer in multiple clubs, and I STILL got rejected from all the schools I applied to! Why? Because it's really hard to transfer from a 4-year to another 4-year, especially when your major is English. I ended up finishing at my college, but it was a huge blow to my self-esteem at the time. On a happier note, it's so awesome to see that you really ARE a full-time TH-camr now! As of rn, you have nearly 700,000 subscribers! You've come so far in less than 3 years, and I couldn't be happier for you! :)
So sorry to hear this. I hope things look up for you very soon. You sound very deserving (that's an understatement). Life's a roller coaster and this is a low point but you will be OKAY. Have hope and keep us tuned when you get the good news.
I also recommend applying to a private school. I was born and raised in California and just went through the application process and saw first hand how absolutely swamped the public school system is. There are AMAZING private schools with more hands on admission offices. There's actually a loyola in California that has a great film school to name one. Check it out and best of luck as you move forward.
Cause its the south and its not very liberal down there and its alot of closed minded people but in California is very liberal and california is really fun.... And plus who doesint want to go to school in California
I have auditioned for my dream school for two years in a row and have been rejected. I am in musical theatre and have to audition. I've basically done the most to prove myself. Like I go to all the theatre shows, I've sat in on classes and met the teachers and I really felt like I nailed the audition this time around. When I didn't get in I truly was HEARTBROKEN because I had basically spent my gap year training. Now I'm going to a last resort school in order to try and work my way up. The struggle is so fucking real I understand exactly what you're feeling. You've been one of my favourite TH-camrs for years now and I'd love to see you get the attention you deserve but definitely apply again next year, you sound really qualified so I cant see why it wouldn't be a yes. IM ROUTING FOR YOU THOUGH
This is the first time I've ever watched any of your videos, and I am so sorry about what happened, but you are hilarious. I think I had tears in my eyes laughing the entire time. You are genuinely humorous. Maybe comedy might be your area, but definitely wishing the best of luck to you.
Perhaps you can APPLY. But you definitely cant transfer to a Cal State school. I talked to my professor at the SDCC Mesa College and asked if I could apply for Spring 2018 and he said CA sate schools don't take in spring transfers.
Well I've lived in CA for two years now and recently talked to my school counselor who is trained to help students at SDCC schools to transfer to all the state and UC schools and he said that State schools do not accept spring transfers.... and their website also doesn't have anything that says spring transfers are possible... sooooo
Woah. Stay strong! I hope everything gets better. That sounds so stressful and difficult, but don't let this define you! You getting rejected has nothing to do with your worth and honestly it was one small human mistake.
I am currently attending Mesa College in San Diego. I've spoken to my counselor and he said that since I'm attending a local CC I will have priority over other transfer applicants to SDSU or any other UC or State school. Would love to see you in SD some day!
Same.I went to Mesa College for one class (frosh english) bc it was always freakin' waitlisted at my uni- CSUSM. Yet I took advantage with my ability to meet with advisors at Mesa bc my 1st experience with csusm advisor my frosh year sucked! I'm a kinesiology/ pre-med with only 1 class left to graduate & figured my dream school for med or grad would be best at this point. I had a friend transfer from Palomar to UCSD last year. I wish you all the best with transfers!! :)
Curious - what are your dream schools? My dream grad/med schools are UCLA, USC,UCSB... really USC & UCLA though bc I've been doing music & traveling to LA while studying pre-med & have made connections in music as an undergrad. If SDSU is your dream school, I have a ton of friends who go there! You'll love it! Their parties are life.... lol👌🏽. Only reason why I do like csusm is bc of the unique research I do in surfing with surf companies, like Hurley & Firewire surfboards. They have the connections and I love surfing & science so it ended up alright
You actually have little priority not a lot but some and definitely not enough to mean anything. Ive worked at admissions office at Liberal arts college a while ago. Most schools run this way Here's why: you might get your application reviewed first or your app will be reviewed by a specific admissions rep assigned to your region or academic demographic but nothing too crazy. Here's how it goes: - There's a certain number slots: slots for in state freshman. slots for cc students in state. slots for out of state freshmen. slots for in state transfers. slots for out of state transfers. slots for minority students. slots for non traditional students (typically older students returning to college) The college saves these slots for each type of student so it's fair, diverse and merit based. - Each admissions rep is told this quota and they choose what application looks appealing for them. We also have assigned regions to focus on for in state students but this is mostly so each student will get a admissions rep to talk with. - Each choosing a few for each student demographic. - We get a stack and we compare and contrast them and we choose holistically the best one. - Some acceptances are a given for example: HS student with high gpa, clubs, star student, valedictorian ..etc These students typically have other schools their looking at so we're not expecting them to choose us but just in case, we accept them this is a trade so we put someone on the wait-list until we know forsure we can score the higher student. We accept them so our requirement gpa goes up as a college, we ACCEPTED students with this GPA, doesn't mean they attended The order is first come first serve (early decision blah blah, stuff like that) If a student applies ED WITHOUT binding or fully committing and they have a semi strong app but not strong enough interest for the school (bc they decided to not bind), basically they waitlist the student or tell them their app will be reviewed during normal admission times. - We accept the shoo in's and any other questionable apps, we take to the admissions board and we basically make a vote. As a group we analyze the essay, we discuss the classes, grades, hardships all that ... Then we vote (This process is only for apps that admissions reps personally liked so they're able to argue on the students behalf.) So basically, you guys wouldnt of been reviewed compared to each other. Or competing. So priority doesnt really have MUCH say. It's a complicated process we want everyone to have a fair chance so you really only compete against those coming from the same educational path as you.
omg i feel u i'm so sorry this happened to you i can relate to this. the whole college system is fucked and too stressful like a lot of the times when i'm dealing with applications and shit like that i just give up before i even start!! hope things turn out better for you soon :(
They probably just had not enough transfer places and too many applications ...And gave priority to cali students etc. I'm sure it doesn't reflect on you personally as much as it might seem. Good luck:)
oh my, literally just watched the video and i'm surprised of how well you're handling this (i couldnt make even a 5 min video). this sucks major balls, but you're right - it's all going to work out in the end. you have an amazing brain and personality, and eventually things are gonna get better (::
at least you’re not olivia jade lol
It is always better to earn acceptance!!
May I know why?
yumi tarantula her mom bribed Olivia way into USC and faked being on the rowing team
Lmaooo
I'm stressed just watching you be stressed
Thot Destroyer For PSATs you only have to read that's it.
Thot Destroyer I completely RUINED my Freshman and Sophomore years.
At least your bangs look cute
Top comment
Wtf lol
I’m rolling 🤦🏾♀️💀

That seems like the logical route.
it's a lot more debt to enter into if she isn't getting what she wants out of her education!
that's true, but that's thinking short term. people who finish their degree make huge sums more over their lifetime. but i don't think she should go to a school she's unhappy in. I think she should either go to CC to get credits and stay on track, or wait a semester and reapply then.
I think I'd still go back even if I didn't like it there. I'd just want to get that degree as soon as possible, then I could move back to California to pursue my graduate degree or whatever. That's just me, though. Everyone has different preferences.
go to a community college in California and then transfer there you'll get priority because it's in California
i think the issue might be that then she would gain more credits that would put her over junior status? idk!
No that's not an issue because at least in my case they only transferred 60 or 70 credits/units. Also for example if she was transferring 60 credits/units but since it's an out of state school only 40 are transferrable and maybe that's why she didn't meet the junior standing
Wait..if she's about to be a junior, then transferring to CC then a university again would be so much credits, money, and time
Well it's really a personal decision because if she stays in school she doesn't have to pay for the loans and being at a California CC will give her a better chance at getting into the schools that she wants.
Goodluck :)
Maggy Shaggy california community college
carly is it true also if you go to an LA cc that they lower the gpa standard since after a year you become a la resident like the uc's around me like if your out of county the gpa requirement is a little higher but in county the minimum is like a 3.0-3.2 ?
Veronica Reyes, nah don't rely on rumors/myths like out of county gpa requirements. aim for 3.5+ gpa at a california cc and you're pretty much set for AT LEAST ucsb/ucsd. 3.7+ should set you for ucla/ucb
What were your stats? I really want to get into UCB and am really interested in learning how to better my chances. Im at califonia cc
Congrats once I finish middle school I'll be just like you😊
if you write an appeal i definitely think you will get into santa cruz. you have the grades. one senior in my class's mom literally called/emailed (i forget which one) University of Cinci and said they made a mistake not accepting her daughter and they literally said "okay" and accepted her lol. if you show interest after being denied and fix all your info i think you're going to be fine!
IH8ALEXISMICHELLE i luv ur username lmao
her mom sounds like lily van der woodsen if u get what i mean lol..
Her mom called lol
I want that to be my mom! 😮😂
Some shit my mother would do lol
Awesome, thank you for letting me know that. I'll check into it. Congrats on graduating.
Why is this me in the future
Honestly same
actually tho me
Ikr I have big goals but they won't turn out to great. I know it. Sadly
girl. applications have become a crapshoot, honestly the whole parliamentary decision shit that goes on in any undergrad applications, graduate applications is just bs now. dont think anything is your fault, its not. ive heard way too many stories of how the system effs with people. not to mention takes a buttload of money from broke kids for these applications. keep your head up, you're beautiful and smart, if it takes a little more of a struggle, itll just be sweeter when you make it :)
don't beat yourself up girl
sometimes everything goes wrong but you end up doing something amazing that you never would've done otherwise
IF YOU'RE HERE BECAUSE YOU'RE A WORRIED HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT, take some advice from someone who's been at her dream college for years! And if you have questions or comments, reply, and I'll do my best to answer :)
So don't just apply to schools with a
One thing with only applying to transfer to CA public schools is that they give priority to CA community college students and it's really hard to get in as an out of state student :( hope it all works out
lily2636 Except she's not an out of state student.
Babyface6200 yes she's transferring from Loyola in New Orleans. That would make her out of state...
She's still an out of state transfer because all her credits are from out of state.
And you'll save money for 1 or 1.5 years.
not Joking about guarantee. it's written into City laws because locals wanted to make it easier for their kids to get college education to give up that land they are on.
and plenty of SBCC students live in UCSB apartments, and all take easy cheap bus, I think free if student over to SBCC and takes like 10 minutes.
and only takes 45min to drive to Los Angeles before or after Traffic. Convenient AF. and UCSB has Costco and In-n-out and Apple Store.
there are also apartments right next to SBCC, within walking distance to Vegan/Best Market Ever "Lazy Acres".
Lazy Acres is the where it at!
Cora LovesGlam the formula for the credits that calstates and cc's is online right?
FleurDeSel can you tell me how much are you paying per year? I didnt know med school in france are in english
Radka Hi, I’m a french med school student. It depends on the school but it’s usually « low » like 150,200,300 euros per year :) I have a scholarship so it’s entirely free for me
@@radka2065 you should've applied for International Track of Medicine at Maastricht University in the Netherlands!
Good luck I really hope everything works out for you
j0hnfilms 7 million a year? Lol what was your mom smoking?
believe me i said the same thing but she accidentally forgot a decimal or added zeros when she submitted the form
j0hnfilms Holy fuck I'd be embarrassed.
j0hnfilms i'm sorry but the fact that your mother wrote 7 millions made me laugh
Dorianne Q me too literally can't stop laughing. Hope you got sorted though!
Who’s watching in 2019 realizing that TH-cam actually was her calling ...
2020 now
2021
hey the same thing just happened to me, my academic counselor reviewed my credits wrong (i started at a school with the quarter system) and i ended up being 1.5 units too short for the UCs. I got rejected everywhere.
I just got the message that I was deferred to winter quarter for ucsc! so all is not lost!
Michelle K good luck Michelle!
I’m going through the same thing right now, my counselor calculated my units wrong so I was .07 units away from the minimum to transfer so I got denied from UCSB, UCB and UCSC, currently working on my appeals rn :/ wish me luck

Omg true
oddly specific but so accurate lmao
Thanks god I live in France and everyone is accepted everywhere lol
DAMN LUCK in Australia we have this thing called OP or Rank sort of like GPA i guess and if you don't get a good OP or Rank your life is OVER not even joking!!!
I feel like the UK is more competitive than the US and deffo more competitive than France, you need a minimum of ABB to even be considered by our top unis lol
okkurrr France let me clap for you
damn, son Shit yeah you win lol, I meant that our qualifications are extremely hard, especially with all the new A Level changes aha
4.29 at stanford, 4.59 harvard this year
They first give priority to CC's in CA and then transfers from one UC to another and THEN out of state.
Caroline Harris UBC is littt
Caroline Harris lol Canada no
AidanDaGamer what's wrong with Canada?!
it's probably because you didn't start off with "hey, my dudes"
Tiffany, I'm so sorry. I was actually rejected from UCLA transfer this year as well, trying to get out of my shitty east coast school. They were this big dream and have an amazing bio psychology program. It hurts, and I know it's this gross ache right now, and if anyone deserves to go to the school they want, it's you. I'm sorry, I really don't know what to say :(
Hope Ruek I’m trying to go from UCLA to USC or the East Coast, I’ll trade ya?
did you ever end up at a UC?
havent watched the whole vid yet but saw the notification pop up at work and audibly gasped and said no!
There is a non-negotiable criteria mandated for ALL CSU and UC transfer applicants:
(1) You must must MUST transfer as a junior, which means you have completed AT LEAST 60 semester (90 quarter) units of lower division (through sophomore standing) coursework.
(For UC Berkeley, the 60 unit as well as the GE OR "IGETC" breadth requirement absolutely MUST be completed - NO exceptions - or your application will not even be considered.)
(3) You CANNOT complete any remaining courses during the summer before you transfer - even if you are accepted for a Winter or Spring transfer. At Berkeley, even if you are accepted, if an audit of your final transcript before enrollment reveals some missing component (a required course not completed) your admission WILL be rescinded. You will have to wait until the next application cycle (usually during October/November, except at the few CSU's - NO UC's - that except Winter or Spring admissions)
(4) If your major is "impacted" (highly sought after majors, which yours was) these requirements are even more strictly applied when admissions decisions are determined (for example, it may be absolutely true, UC Berkeley or otherwise, that you must have completed ALL lower level GE classes and ALL lower level major course prep work.)
I've worked with a number of individuals to help them ensure that they have dotted all i's and crossed all t's on their applications for a few years of late.
Good Luck
I'm from the future, it's okay you made it
You truly do not need a film degree to work in film. Drop out, make connections, get experience.
I am a hairstylist and college student. My boss's husband works in film. I say go for it. Go to LA. Get an internship. Move your way up. Do it girl!
You're so close to finishing your degree though, I'd say finish it beautiful :)
Change majors, major in business, graduate and start ur own filming company with thay degree.
Film degrees are useless, im sorry.
Eduarda Jhully r
Ok, let me just move to France and leave everything behind here.
Eduarda Jhully I’m late, but is it nice at your colleges? I originally wanted to go to France but I want to major in English Literature so :(
I really admire you talking about this so openly. The situation is so fucked and I'm sorry that you're having to go through this. Something will work out. You will thrive, regardless of what happens. I ( and lot of other people) are here for you. Stay strong kiddo. You're great. Your future is bright.
sorry to hear about your dilemma, but, everything happens for a reason, & it will all work out in the end Tfergy. 😎
A verified with only 8 likes. Treason.
If you haven't already, can you do a video why you don't like the school you're at now?
Some credits just don't transfer. Especially state to state. Sorry girl
Don't give up, everything will fall into place! xoxo
What about LMU in LA? It's also Jesuit so they'd favor you coming from another Jesuit school
Thank you!
there's no point in going straight to a 4-year school only to pay $40,000 more than you would if you just went to community college for 2 years then transfer.
here to support you tiff! all of this sucks but at least you have so many people who love and care about you.I wish you the best of luck!
why didn't you just apply to these schools the first time? not trying to be rude. just genuinely want to know your reason for leaving CA for New Orleans, especially when CA is the perfect place for film and creative minds.
Jamelyn james Sometimes people change their minds in terms of careers. Happens all the time. Every school advertises how we'll their programs are but you can't really tell the quality until your enrolled.
But Loyola isn’t even a great school for Film.... it’s not a great school period.
u have overcome so much in your life, u are so strong. i have been watching u for 7 years, ily. dont give up
You realize France has several good formations in film production as well right ? and that it would cost you a LOT LESS to do it there, I don't know all the nitty gritty of highschool degree recognition in France coming from US, but definitely try that as well.
Life is funny.
ironically this is the video that made me discover your channel...and I’ve been subscribed ever since
I wanna take you out for drinks and drown you in self-fulfilling mantras and tell you how pretty and successful and well-meaning and DAMN HOT SHIT AMAZING you are!
Eileen Stevenson Dublin Ireland represent ☘️
Wahey! Look! Two friends!
lol I agree this yter is incredibly gorgeous and hard working she will definitely come through.
" i just want to be CHILLLING "
stay strong!! so terribly upset at this occurrence, but believe me with your dedication and hard work things will work out, even though it might not be what you originally planned or wanted. don't let things like these define you, you are stronger and will prevail. sending much love you're way.
boiii I cried when I got waitlisted to UofOklahoma, I can't even imagine how u must be feeling, godspeed x
Your attitude is going to take you far! I love that you have resolved that you will be okay no matter what, and I'm sure you have a plan to push forward. One of the most valuable lessons I learned in college was outside of the classroom, and that is there is not just one way to succeed. You got this, and you go girl!
"I don't know how I feel right now expect like, despair." ICONIC
seriously wish you the best luck!! don't worry about your future it all turns out okay and maybe just *maybe* it'll turn into a funny story one day :-)) have some hope ❤️❤️
Oh wow I got into UCSC and I only have a 3.5 I honestly have no clue how you didn't get in that's crazy
Salvador Castellanos were you out of state or in state?
Kevin Frazier another question would be were you a freshman or a transfer
Good luck!
oh sucks :( you will be fine. they'll regret it that they didn't accept you!
kisses from Belgium x
You are gorgeous omg throughout this whole vid I’m like HOW CAN SOMEONE LOOK THIS ANGELIC?? Also I’m sorry about the mistake in applications but I always say everything happens for a reason! I’m sure this is one of those moments
You are meant to be exactly where you are! Everything happens for a reason.
I'm in the transfer process right now so I totally get the position you're in. I'm so sorry this happened to you because it is already hard enough to get into the transfer process anyway! I really hope something works out for you, and it was really strong of you to make this video! Good luck!
CSUN pros: Everyone gets in.
CSUN cons: Everyone gets in.
Also, it's more of a commuter school.
You can and will get through this! Colleges look at more than just the papers they look at the person as well, you are a wonderful person but they may have not been able to tell by your transcripts and applications. Stay with it and good luck!
Way off topic but she reminds me of Cole Sprouse.
Tiffany, I've watched you for so long. As a college student, I understand where you're coming from. Everything works itself out eventually, sometimes it just takes a little longer/more work than you expected.
Honestly, considering you are already at a 4-year institution, you shouldn't be surprised you were rejected. Let me sum it up why its obvious you were rejected:
You sound bitter and you sound like you're taking this personally?
ry c unfortunately, you are correct. She was rejected because "she" wasn't good enough and not her reasons.
cool kat
This is 100% true, sweetie.
Im sorry you’re so misinformed and decided to interpret things within your radical universe.
u cant even use the right your bro chill
Question; why do u hate ur current school so much? Im curious lol
Cause its the south and its not very liberal down there and its alot of closed minded people but in California is very liberal and california is really fun.... And plus who doesint want to go to school in California
I think she just doesn’t feel like herself there. Idk if you’ve watched her older stuff but she seemed depressed and just didn’t thrive there
I have auditioned for my dream school for two years in a row and have been rejected.
Santa Cruz is so beautiful, i used to live near there. Honestly this makes me so mad like obvi you're a good student and a well rounded person? Smh
This is the first time I've ever watched any of your videos, and I am so sorry about what happened, but you are hilarious. I think I had tears in my eyes laughing the entire time. You are genuinely humorous. Maybe comedy might be your area, but definitely wishing the best of luck to you.
Just become a pro pizza delivery driver
this makes me so sad. :( ily!! and hope things get better, you deserve it!!!!
You should look into a semester at a community college, show them you're dedicated when you apply again for spring semester!
In CA you can only apply for the Fall semester to transfer, so it'd be two semesters
Holistic Gypsy false... You can apply for spring at cal states
Perhaps you can APPLY. But you definitely cant transfer to a Cal State school. I talked to my professor at the SDCC Mesa College and asked if I could apply for Spring 2018 and he said CA sate schools don't take in spring transfers.
Holistic Gypsy no they do..... I've known a lot of people get in as spring transfers. I think you mean UC's don't take spring transfers
Would love to see you in SD some day!
also, do you know if your credits were transferable?
Most schools run this way
Here's why: you might get your application reviewed first or your app will be reviewed by a specific admissions rep assigned to your region or academic demographic but nothing too crazy. Here's how it goes:
- There's a certain number slots: slots for in state freshman. slots for cc students in state. slots for out of state freshmen. slots for in state transfers. slots for out of state transfers. slots for minority students. slots for non traditional students (typically older students returning to college) The college saves these slots for each type of student so it's fair, diverse and merit based.
Then we vote (This process is only for apps that admissions reps personally liked so they're able to argue on the students behalf.)
So basically, you guys wouldnt of been reviewed compared to each other. Or competing. So priority doesnt really have MUCH say. It's a complicated process we want everyone to have a fair chance so you really only compete against those coming from the same educational path as you.
HayleyCalVilla
I am at UCLA trying to transfer into USC. And my heart hurts, I don’t know what to do.
Nooo, oh man I wish you the best of luck girl. Sending you good vibes to anything you want to put your heart towards.
I was rejected from every college in the world.
omg i feel u i'm so sorry this happened to you i can relate to this. the whole college system is fucked and too stressful like a lot of the times when i'm dealing with applications and shit like that i just give up before i even start!! hope things turn out better for you soon :(
They probably just had not enough transfer places and too many applications ...And gave priority to cali students etc.
Stay amazing Tiffany. Bangs are still 👌💯
I'm sorry to hear about this Tiffany. Im praying that your appeals work out and am sending my positive vibes
The funny thing is is she’s making bank off TH-cam right now.
Re watching this in 2021 and you just graduated!! Congrats it’s been tough but you made it :)
"Some of this is my fault"
