It’s so nice to watch someone who knows how to moldboard plow and even better when they know why it’s important to plow the opposite way as it was turned the last time. I’m 70 and we always called them headlands and dead furrows here in Indiana. Same difference 😅
Mold board plowing is getting to be a lost art. Lots of people don't know how to set one. My Dad and Grandpa were good at it and they passed it on to me. Not that I plow much more than a garden now days but I still turn ground when I take a hay field out. Yes sir you turn it one way one time and the opposite way next time especially on finish furrows and outside furrows. Thanks for sharing Bill. Hope y'all have a great and safe trip to Tennessee and back. Enjoy the new Grandbaby.
Brings back memories from many years ago operating a 4030. Thanks for this video. The narrow front makes it special. Have run a few narrows in my day, but mostly wide fronts. The narrows was always special and were mostly two cylinders.
Plowing with a narrow front is challenging to say the least Bill ! The plow shined up nicely, the sand scours the bottoms. The best smell on earth is the mixture of freshly plowed sod and cow 💩 ! Life is good on the farm out of prying eyes my friend ! God bless stay safe Bill.
Great video I love seeing the older tractors and equipment still being used. That was one of my favorite things to do on the farm I had a 4020 with 4-16 Simi mounted plow
Some of the best memories I've got is a farm boy clowning with a 3020 diesel in a 316. Later on I graduated to a 4020 with a 418s. Also did a lot with a 4030 and a 414s. It was a perfect match for the 4030
Great job hardly anyone plows anymore they spray and plant 😢. I believe it is the reason why so many people have cancer. May God bless you always in Jesus name Amen
Yes, I believe Tractor church needs to come back. I usually watch it after I go to church on Sundays and as far as your plows be parked where they are that’s where I keep mine but I do put a coda cheap spray paint on them so they don’t rust up, keep up the good work Bill God bless
Looks like some fairly light soil. Typically we chisel plow all the stubble ground. Only moldboard plow sod going back to corn. Nice to know we aren't the only ones that patch things up. Hope the Lord blesses everyone with good crops this year.
Hey Bill, my favorite field work is still plowing ground sitting on there in the open station tractor smelling the dirt going back into furrow. Looking for fishing. Worms brings back. Lots of good memories back when I grew up before we had no till we plowed our ground. My first flowering job was a 3020 with a 316. Later on I graduated to a 4020 and a 418s. The best memories I've got of farming is plowing
When the molboards shined up she was plowing perty then.I would love to come see your empire and collection.. I have lots of equipment around my house , not in my yard . its placed around behind my shop. My home owners insurance has cancelled me because they say its unsafe.lol oh well Love your vidoes and perspectived on lifev. Keep up the good work
Plowing was one my favorites best memories is plowing with my dad he was on a 4020 with semi mounted plow and I was with my JD R we just got it running 4-14 trailer plow
I too hate hooking and unhooking the disk mower off the tractor, we just resigned to the idea that the tractor with the disk mower was going to have the mower hooked up all hay season. I would hate if we didn't have the option to do that.
I have newer JD tractors, but they sure don't have the character the old tractors have. Love your 4030's, you need to get that cab tractor in your shop :)
Far from the worst plow job I've ever seen. Looks pretty good to me. Our plow has plenty of patches welded on too. My grandfather always said wire, bent nails or welder. One will fix it
Now that you got your plow ladies, all shined up, put some of that really really heavy, greasy grease on it and two years from now the weather will still not have taken it off. The kind of grease they use to launch ships.
A few years ago I saw some stuff in a spray can that was especially made for that. But I would think that grease would hold up better. Then I would throw a tarp over it too.
We always pulled the tractor up on a concrete block to set the plow up, the other thing you could do is when you disc the field split the hump on the first pass and then move over half way and the double disc it, will help level field back out, like the weed eater sound at the end
your furrows weren't crooked compared to mine. This past spring I bought a compact tractor to garden with, first time owning a tractor. I got a single bottom moldboard plow with it. You want to talk about crooked furrows. I had them, but I'll get better.
I worked for the neighbor doing field work a couple summers, He had all green tractors, but I ran them too. In fact I put the first 10 hours on his new 4320 with ROPS cab and air conditioning. Was a 4320 because of the AC, and AC was because the 4320 was the tractor always used on the chopper for both corn silage and haulage. But just like his old cab tractor 4020 with no AC, had to keep the windows open and the dust would would settle in that cab a half inch deep. He always kept a narrow frt end 4020 or two around, they were great driving thru back furrows, closing up dead furrows, those front wheels would just walk right thru furrows, no jerking the steering wheel out of your hands, no bouncing the front end. I plowed 80 acres that had been permanent pasture for a long time, it pulled REALLY hard, used a 4020 diesel NFE with the diff lock on all the time. Unfortunately I never had enough frt weight slabs to keep the front end down, had the frt wheels at least 5 ft off the ground climbing one of the steeper hills, I managed to hit the brakes and ease the front end down, there were two starter weights and two weight slabs on the tractor I'd run the night before, It was easier to put the weights on my tractor with the plow than try to swap the plow onto the other tractor. What hurt was hauling manure, He had two Deere #44 spreaders, one with the three beaters and a wide spread, other had the BIG drum beater, I liked that one better, I used two different tractors to haul & spread, one was about a 1947 JD A, other was a #60. Not really a fan of 2 cylinders. Worst was when the Boss had me hook the 60 to his 6-30 rotary hoe to break the crust on 80 acres of soybeans so they could sprout. 60 would only pull 4th gear, half mile rows and worked ALL day to get half of it done. A 4020 belonged on that rotary hoe, run 6th or 7th gear.

Loved the video Bill! God bless
Hey Greg! Thanks, great to know you are enjoying what you see.

Oh well. If they don't want your premiums, then save it up for something that you can keep.

The 4030 sound really good . Thanks Bill

Great camera work, excellent video
Thank you very much!

You got that right!
Like the tricycle. I would like to have one for my 4430
Looks like it plowed up pretty good! Just a different kind of dirt , I’m used to seeing plowed
Hey Bill looks like that 4030 is a sycro range. And it looks like you were in 3rd gear. Thought it might be a quad range. Good plowing.
I have plowed with a 630 JD fully mounted plow. It did good work always. Just plowed garden at end Very good item just to own even
I was looking forward for this video 😊
Hope you enjoyed it!
We used to pull 4-16 with a 2840 It was a great outfit
What do plan on planting in there. Figured your corn would have been in a month ago.
Good luck Bill , stay safe.
Hey Burt, we can get away with planting corn as late as mid July. That's what I'm planting.

Hey, that's hard for a pro to plow straight with a one bottom! 😄
The real skill of ploughing is not the straight furrow, but the right bend to finish out against the hedge...
Nice, Almost as nice as vintage red Power l o l
Almost!
Nice camera work dirt farmer!
need another couple hundred acres and that plow will be shined up pretty good
How-Many CAMERAs Did-TAKE to Gett That EN-EARTHed Video-Clip...That was GREAT🚜💪👍😊
Hey Dave! I just use the one camera, the rest is in the editing.🤠
Great video
Hey Bill, I changed my heading a little bit kind of keep my name a little more private at Tennessee. John Deere nut is me Reuben
I got you Reuben!
That Old jd pulling its but off
👍👍
Do you have another tractor with a three point hitch that you can put the disc behind on and never have to take it off again in your lifetime?
Buteful tractor an 145plow
There is no easy way but yourself we leave are cutter on the 720
Is that a 400 series plow? Or older?
We used spinner plows
I haven’t seen any tractor church lately??
I think he is in Tennessee.
