I couldn’t help but make a couple of comparisons. I’ve only had my Electra for 25 years, and back then I paid $2,097 dollars for it. That was from the dealer who sold it new, and with a warranty, and all the service records that they had on the car. Best car deal I ever made! Buick has always been a great car to have, and thanks, Lou, for a great Buick car story!

My Dad had bought brand new a maroon 1970 Electra 225 2 door coupe with the 455 ci motor and a black vinyl top which never faded. Our church elder had a 4 door '69 and I always preferred styling of the taillights and front grill of the 1970 models to the 1969's. I learned to drive off that car. It was heavy and BIG but boy it''ll get out of its own in hurry and cruise all day at 100+ mph without breaking a sweat. Good luck Pete(and Lou) and thanks for the happy tears in my eyes and bringing back memories of my Dad.

Understated styling and a smoother than smooth engine. This was the pinnacle for Buick and possibly for GM as a whole.

    • @UberLummox
      @UberLummox 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Yes, and In my opinion the pinnacle for *all* US cars, mainly for their serviceability/reliability and high quality of course. About '62-ish to '71 I'd say. And more towards by the late '60s parts interchangabilty was an awesome factor in servicability. Though one thing I would say is by '65-'67 interior materials were starting their downward decline into their pathetic state by the mid-'70s.

I want one. My grandparents had a vinyl hardtop 69 Electra 225 in midnight blue with black top. Blue pattern leather and fabric seats. They bought it new, but it was sold after my grandpa died in 1973. I have had dreams with me and my grandparents in that car. When I think about all the classic luxury cars I would want to own, I suppose it comes down to the 69 Buick Electra 225.

Guy has a showroom looking 1969 top of the line Buick, in a convertible too. I love it that he has owned the car for 40 years. Man, he's certainly has taken care of it. Pristine example of how things were in 1969. Man, I miss cars styled like this. The ones today just don't have the looks like this anymore. So much has been lost in car design.

Beautiful! My first car was a 1965 Buick Electra 225. Mine was the exact same color as this one. Mine was not a convertible..and didn't have those gorgeous Riv wheels! Back in the day - still in 1969, when you drove a Buick, you knoew you were driving elegance! Not so much today...they are all SUVS! This one is beautiful. It looks just as if it came off the showroom. the horn sound was great, so was the exhuast. Love these videos. Please keep them coming!

Beautiful Buick. Prettier than that years Cadillac Coupe de Ville convertible in my humble opinion.
One photographic ad simply showed a '69 Buick Electra. It showed the rear, passenger side, three quarter view of a two door Limited. Parked on the tarmac of what appears to be a small airport with smartly suited businessmen and a private plane in the background.
Few words. The style and prestige said enough.
    Thank you Lou.

Lou once again you show a great car! What a beauty!
It takes me back. My parents and Grandparents had several .
Our first one was about 1974 or so.
Ours was a 455 beauty. 4 door loaded! It pulled our 24 ft boat no problem.
This car your showing is an absolute beauty!
    Wow.
My Grandparents had a blue one about 1972-74. It was a Limited 225 455 car if I remember correctly. It was a limited , I think it was a special order. It's so long ago I can barely remember.
Once again I traveled in time for a moment looking at this wonderful example.
A 430 , that's awesome. And the horn is great!

I learned to drive in a ‘69 Buick Electra 225. It was a light green metallic hardtop, not a convertible like this beauty. It’s what my parents owned when I was 13/14 years old and ready to get my learner’s permit. I still remember driving down Hwy 10, a rural 2-lane highway out in the country with very little traffic on it, after dinner early one evening with dad riding shotgun. I bet there was a twinge of nervousness on his part that being the first “by myself” drive in my life. I know I had just a twinge of it myself -with a LOT of excitement to go with it!
A pristine light metallic green 1969 Buick Electra 225 was the first car I ever drove. That’s pretty cool in my book!

David T ? It's actually David Dunbar Buick. He and his partner William Sherwood gain their initial success w/their patent in the porcelain process bonding porcelain to cast iron enabling the company to produce white bathtubs and fixtures for the 1st. time. "Go fast w/ class" for sure!!! Faster than a Cadillac.
They erned the title "banker's hot rod" as you prolly know, and since their inception in '03 they were known as the "doctor's car". Good stuff!!!

THE pinnacle of US automotive design. Never before or since have cars been this *serviceable,* and never will be again. Had a '69 Duece-and-a-Quarter 4dr., and several other incredible '60s Buicks. Owned ChryCos. the last 25 years but am itching for another '60s Electra or Riviera!!! Though I prefer mine to be daily drivers *w/metal roofs* : ), it's nice to see a pristine one. Wow! Thanks for the video Lou! - Dave

Interesting factory accessories. The 8-track player was invented by Bill Lear of Learjet fame. His son John - in UFO circles - is equally famous. Like a professional weightlifter, owner Pete needs to squat and thrust when raising that huge hood. Beautiful condition, one of those automobiles where the more you look, the more you see.

The 1969 Electra 225 came stock with a 455 engine. This gentleman's car has the 430 engine (like my dad's car) which was a special order engine. My dad use to say the 430 was better than the 455. We had our Deuce & A Quarter until 2010 when we finally had to let it go, but our memories remain. :-)

Yes! I was about to post about the same thing.....only my "Standard Catalog of Buick '03-'90"
says "Custom Limited" as one series. It doesn't specify Custom and Limited as 2 separate models.
I'm curious, could you let me know where you got this info? Thanks!
And to be clear, all cnvts. were a step above the standard Electra. All 225 rag~tops were Custom Limited models. A small minor correction to what you said however, the Custom Limited was available in every body style. The cnvt, Coupe, 4dr. hdtp., AND the 4dr. sedan (w/full center pillar).

    Hi!
I just want to thank you for all your videos ...
I watched so much by now and you show so beautiful cars ... I mean CARs!
There is so much ugliness around since years ...
I'm a european, but in our childhood we played with american cars and replayed what we saw on television (american series).
Anyway, I've been in your beautiful country (east coast) and had a 1985 Buick Century Custom for a while, but my heart beats for the 1958 to 1968(?) 1978(?) cars ...

My grandfather loved Buicks. He only bought Buicks and he loved the Electra's when they came out. He owned a 68 convertible. Black w/black leather. One hot summer day he took my brother and I out to dinner at a fancy restaurant. I remember freezing in the back seat ! The A/c was huge for the convertibles. It was so cold !.Well, He then traded it in for a brand new 1970 Buick Electra 225 hardtop. Blue with White leather. beautiful car. He wanted a more secure car in his old age I guess.
