It was 74's that got me into aviation in the first place, and it was Qantas 74's that flew over my house when they were landing on 16R back in my school days. A historic flight I would have loved to have witnessed. Also to the creator, your videos are of exceptional quality, in particular with the attention to the detail of highlighting reference points mentioned in the radio calls, right down to the standard helicopter routes from YSSY. Very impressive.

It's very gratifying to know the work that goes into those small details doesn't go unnoticed. Many thanks for the comment and for watching!

Lovely to hear the relaxed and professional interchange on a historic occasion. Love and miss Australia from an absent Pom.
    Best wishes Down Under.

Why did the helicopter want to orbit Leichhardt? The suburb in general? Were they just having fun?

It's a bit misleading to suggest in the video title that it *was* the final 747 flight when Qantas never said that it was.
This was the last Qantas 747 flight prior to the international network being suspended. That's what "last passenger flight" used by ATC was talking about. No one knows when or if the 747s will return to service. It still isn't clear when Qantas will be able to resume regular international flights or what the network and fleet will look like when it does.
The government subsidized repatriation flights happening at the moment are being operated by 787s.

Do they still fly 747's for freight?

Qantas has some 747-8Fs for their cargo operation. They are operated by Atlas Air.
They still have 5 747-400ERs in the fleet, however they are parked (along with almost the entire Qantas Group fleet) due to the Covid-19 issues.
There had been talk about keeping 1 or 2 into next year with falling fuel prices while they worked out what they would do for aircraft for the JNB and HND routes.
