    Excellent video! Distress inks are so great for soft blended backgrounds. Safer and cleaner to use than soft pastels, and no need for fixative either.

    So I've had some Distress Inks for over a year and I just started using them. I need to blot them out like you did, I just went in full force and made a hot mess LOL But it just takes practice! Fun stuff!!

      Ann I've had the whole set of minis for over a tear and want to use them also. Spent a good amount of money on them so would be nice to use them. I made a color chart last night with them and I think it's going to be a learning curve. Some also seemed a little dry even though they were never opened or it could just be that they're lighter colors.

      Of course I can! Thank you for the feedback. The name of the brush is Tim Holtz Distress Splatter Brush. You can find it on Amazon.

    I only recently started using distressed inks for backgrounds in my coloring books. This additional knowledge is greatly appreciated
    I am guessing that the archival inks may not be a good idea for background since from my understanding they are alcohol based.

    • @ufocoloring7709
      @ufocoloring7709  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lori Coloring Hangout I’m glad this video was helpful. Maybe the archival inks would work but I’m pretty sure they would bleed through the next page.

    • @sandraolson8635
      @sandraolson8635 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ufocoloring7709 actually archival inks work the same for this particular process but will dry slightly faster and will not bleed thru. They will only bleed if you use alcohol markers or ink over them. Distress will bleed if you get it wet with water while Archival will bleed with solvents like alcohol. For example, you use Archival inks to stamp images that you want to watercolor while you use dye based inks such as distress to stamp images you want to use alcohol markers to color.

      It’s a glass cutting board lol! Something made out of plastic will work the same way. It’s just what I had around. Thank you! I’m glad you liked it.

    Hi i know this video is while ago , but in case you see this, i wondered if you prefer the brushes or sponge blending tools? I just got my first distress inks!!! And i already have brushes the exact same as yours. ... do i need the round sponge pads as well?
    Thanks so much!!

    Hi. Are brush applicators better than sponge for applying the distress ink? Thanks.

    • @ufocoloring7709
      @ufocoloring7709  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I like the brushes but it really depends… the sponges can make it more pigmented.

    Why use Distress Inks in particular? Wouldn't any kind of stamp pad work? Very curious as I only own 3 distress ink pads, but I have a metric butt ton of other stamp pads.

    • @ufocoloring7709
      @ufocoloring7709  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m pretty sure other water based stamp pads would work in a similar way. I’ve never tried it before.

    Well. Who knew you can't use those rounded wooden pad things flat. I did, acted like I was spreading butter on toast. No wonder my stuff looked like crap 🤦🏼‍♀️
