This was absolutely brilliant. I forgot how good Star Trek really was, as a kid we were getting a science lesson and didn't even realize it .. magnificent.
We would be hard pressed to find this kind of intelligent, substance over style animation today. I remember clearly watching TAS as a 8 year old in 1973..and for that I'm thankful !
All of these episodes were novelized in the “Star Trek Log” book series. They were actually pretty good, especially since there was no need to worry about the budgetary constraints of filming.
@xmorg That's how old school animation was back then, especially for productions that had limited budgets. Honestly, its no different than what "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" does on a regular basis.
I finally own the whole series on DVD, I'm grateful that I was able to get it at a decent price before it went up on the internet, I.E. Mercari, eBay, and Amazon..🌛💫🌞✨🌚🌝👽👾😁🤘👍
I guess they don't use mercury fillings and oxygen atoms shrink. Of course, the water atoms in the aquarium weren't shrinking, so, they should have been peeing constantly, or, looking really water logged.
If they are shrinking in volume, but not in mass, how the hell is Chapel swimming? She should have sunk like a stone. This ruins it! I will never watch ST again! ;-)
Haha I know we talk about how stupid cartoons are today but this is wayy to much tech talk. How could this ever hold a child's interest. Best part- Full spyroid wave analysis that will take 8 years, bypass that analysis we've got 29 mins. @2:19
I think this show only extend TOS in way that live action movie cant do to budget and muvie prob and make up limitation of 60. It is not meant to by kid show
My favorite parts of this show are the ones where Kirk looks like he's leaning into everyone else's shots.
There's plenty of shots like that in "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" too.

Ironically we finally got it again from Star Trek; specifically Prodigy, a kids spinoff that respects the audience's intelligence.
this is pretty well written for a cartoon. very well written.
Sadly, not well animated.
Shrinkage: The most terrifying word to James T. Kirk.

i don't know why she was yelling for help, she obviously wasn't going to die since she wasn't wearing a red shirt
They could all hear her too despite the tank and the water and their sizes, lol
Their some blue shirt deaths.
4:10
We have a man with a broken leg and only minutes left before we die in space. Let's have a staring contest!
3:10 Left leg is broken.
3:35 Right leg is broken.
I sure hope somebody got fired for that blunder.
What a great series this was!
@xmorg That's how old school animation was back then, especially for productions that had limited budgets. Honestly, its no different than what "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" does on a regular basis.
Wish there were full episodes.
Good thing the Enterprise had all those needles lying around. I guess the lower decks crew was goofing off on their cleaning.
"Just let me SHOOT something, Captain!"
A lot of physics and biology in this clip. This cartoon series was pretty heavy on the science for grade schoolers back then.
1:10 lets look at spock's head instead of the coral
Notice that when Chappell yells for help, at times, her lips don't move.
I guess they could only afford to pay her for one "Help!" and they just repeated it.
they're so emotionless
I finally own the whole series on DVD, I'm grateful that I was able to get it at a decent price before it went up on the internet, I.E. Mercari, eBay, and Amazon..🌛💫🌞✨🌚🌝👽👾😁🤘👍
1:05 Spock is such a spunky trickster! I see you!
I'm glad Star Fleet made it mandatory for cadets to sew or else the crew would've parished,
i love this series!!!!!!!!!!!
this is practically my chemistry class, biology class and geology class combined.
And explains how all those sciences do not work? :P
"I was in the pool! I was in the pool!"
Fantastic show!
Needles seem to be everywhere
You ever notice how long it takes to record your report when your life is in immediate danger?
I always felt Sulu was out of character in this scene. He usually kept his cool.
there is no limit to shrinkage
he said calculate limits to their shrinkage LOL.
We can calculate the limits to our shrinkage. How cold was the water in the pool?
I guess they don't use mercury fillings and oxygen atoms shrink. Of course, the water atoms in the aquarium weren't shrinking, so, they should have been peeing constantly, or, looking really water logged.
This isn't a cartoon its science class all over again.
@orcamedia you're forgetting the ALGAE BASED XENOLON!
Man, I was expecting this to be some sort of joke, remix, or something...
@xmorg
i agree. where's the animation?
o.O This couldn't possibly have been made for children. There's enough science in this video to write a thesis on.
I have never seen a more obvious example of a show trying to stay under budget.
That's FILMATION for you!
we can calculate the limits to our shrinkage
It would have been funnier if when Kirk threw the needle it would have impaled Chapel.
"Finally... I was starting to get annoyed with constant screams of 'Help!'"
Knowing Kirk and his libido, he probably 'impaled' her later. After the shrinkage was dealt with of course
i love star trek, but i'm trying to stay awake right now
She got so small that she forgot how to swim? How does that work?
this reminds me of the old Scooby Doo shows
Star Treck: The Close Up Animated Series
Tfw Star Trek TAS understands shrinking better than the MCU
Help! Help! Help!
4:07 Was she walking with her eyes closed?
@petplatypus they're shrinking and so at some point they will become too small to operate the ship.
I want Spock to say dilithium again.
@dj4monie Did you comprehend what they said when it came to the scientific parts?
what the crap was all the help screaming about
the title makes it seem like it has to do with birth xD
He basically just threw a spear at the nurse...
QUIT WINDING! 1:33
Sounds like these guys where taking biology, and Physics at age 2
@foghorn2002 Vice versa Right is broken first, then Left.
Shrinky Dinks
This is ripe for a Sealab type re-imagining.
Oh, God, yes please!
@dj4monie I'm not convinced. I mean seriously, the average four year old doesn't have the attention span to comprehend what's going on in this video.
Star Trek did shrinkage before Seinfeld
want to see what happens
Someone turned the ship's computer into a human woman!
omg that exchange of looks at 4:10.
Wtf is going on!? kik
why not post entire episodes?
Because they want to force you to subscribe to their crummy streaming service so that they can keep throwing money at Discovery.
TECHNOLOGY!
3:14 lol
what if he scewered her arm with that needle???
O.o Ok I have know idea what fuck there talking about but there clothes are alive is all I got out of it
3:45 NECK
great
@NeonKizen Is it? You insulted me for no apparent reason other than to start shit . That's pretty stupid.
Good grief, don't they teach people how to swim in the future?
@MyLIfeStudios Oh my gosh I hear it too. O__O
Lol it's kinda funny...
If their mass stayed the same, but their size changed... she should have sunk like a rock.
If they are shrinking in volume, but not in mass, how the hell is Chapel swimming? She should have sunk like a stone. This ruins it! I will never watch ST again! ;-)
aw Nurse Chapel died.
The Atom?
@IceMaverick20 Oh hohoho.... Only some people get it XD
brain *boom*
sooo...she couldn't swim?
SCIENCE!
@NeonKizen You're an awfully sorry person. It's okay. I forgive you.
@newmanthejewman Too bad he missed.
I'm so confused!
wow
3:58
@dj4monie Good times :)
HELP
HELP
HELP
What the hell did I just watch?
@locolalo1364 Damnitt.
Is this supposed to be funny? I don't remember the actual show being this funny XD
ssSPACE

wow... star trek actors were getting REALLY desperate
No one likes shrinkage
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
24th!
Can't tell what is cheesier, the show or the cartoon.
...
