    Thank you for explaining every step along the way. Almost all the other builders seem to think everybody out here knows what they are doing. The idea behind a diy is watching and learning how to do it. So THANK YOU AGAIN. A very helpful video.

    Thanks for this fella.
    I had a good idea of how to DIY mine but watching someone who actually knows what they're doing always helps.
    Pocket hole jig.
    I'ma need me on of those 👍

      @@marrazzowoodworkingdiy8118as these things tend to happen, a whole load of other stuff has got in the way of my doing what I want. Sons bike breaks, I have to fix it, daughters room has to be decorated because "I'm not a little girl any more", which I think is code for 'she wants to bring a boy home', so out come the step ladders, the paint trays, out we go to B&Q and spend a whole day choosing the correct shade of white.......so no, I haven't yet bought my pocket hole jig.
      Hopefully I'll get the job done before the end of winter, so my wife and I can watch spring unfold in our wee garden.

    Put screws in every other hole on the piano hinge (and the opposite on the other side) - this will stop the screws from binding against each other - and the door from 'popping open'.

    - Wouldn't there have been more access to fully use the storage if there'd been two top doors ??? Excellent work.

      I asked the client and they only wanted one door. It's pretty spacious and each end can be reached from the single door. They store blankets in there currently.

    Thank you for this video. I have a customer who wants a bench just like this one and the steps are easy to follow. It will make this job much easier. Curious what would something like this cost a customer do u think based on the numbers of hours involved? Thanks again. Great video and love the humor!

      Thanks. I am glad it was helpful. I underbid this job by a lot! I would now charge a minimum of at least $800.00.

    what do you think would be reasonable pricing to have something like this commissioned? Just curious what your thoughts are. Thanks!

      Hi Megan. Thanks for the question. This job in the Chicagoland area should cost between $1300 - $1500 depending on the quality of plywood and hardwood used as of today's date.

      I believe Tony had me use a water-based semi gloss latex. I'm not sure of the brand, but I prefer Sherwin Williams.

    Did you put a second layer of plywood on the top of the unit? I was a bit confused when you described how you had to use two pieces of wood for one of the corner spaces.

  • @lawrancelove5099

    Hello from michigan as well! question for you, how much larger did you go on each side for the door opening on the top piece of ply? I see the sub level of plywood has a ledge on it for the actual hinged door to rest on

    • @marrazzowoodworkingdiy8118
      @marrazzowoodworkingdiy8118  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Lawrance! I don't exactly remember, most likely 2"-4". I can ask my friend to measure it for me if you'd like.

      Sorry for the delay. Anywhere from $600 - $800 would be fair if not low in some areas.

    What was the material you used for the front trim (vertical side facing the audience)? Was it 1 x 3" poplar or 1/2" plywood?

    • @marrazzowoodworkingdiy8118
      @marrazzowoodworkingdiy8118  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, unfortunately, that took me that long. Being the first one I ever did and not having any plans whatsoever and just winging it. I know I can do the job in 2 days now. If it was at my own home with all my tools here and not having to travel 30 miles in between job sites and with this experience.

      I was just kidding, it turned out really nice, but I think I would have explained to the homeowner that the baseboard that got covered up was alittle eccentric, but if they weren't friends they would have been charged for that lol. Nice job...

      @marrazzowoodworkingdiy8118  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Daniel Murphy thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, as a police officer for the past 24 years and still active, I have a different opinion of the flag.

    • @Wimikk
      @Wimikk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marrazzowoodworkingdiy8118 look I have friends in rcmp here in Canada, and I assume you’re a decent guy. But after hearing their stories, if I see a blue line, it’s telling me that the officer wearing it is broadcasting that they care more about their brotherhood than the public good, and I have to wonder how much that officer would be willing to sweep under the rug to protect that. If they put up their own flag instead of the one that we all share, whose side are they on?
      It undermines my trust in the police.
      That said, you do earnestly seem like a chill guy. I mean, if that’s the culture I was immersed in, if all my buddies were convinced it was us against the world and I would get ostracized for keeping up a regular flag, I’d probably be flying the blue line too.
      Anyway, thanks for the reply. I’ll fully be watching this series another 2-3 times to get a feel for how you lined up the piano hinges.
