- A privately owned, traditional distillery, doing things their own way!! There aren't that many of them left in Scotland these days. This is a good example.
Cheers.

Love Glenfarclas, especially the 15 at 46% but also the 21 and 25 which I picked up when they were just over £100 a bottle. Direct fire stills and a superb tasting room, fantastic staff and beautiful distillery to visit and tour. An under the radar distillery unless you know...!
Jim. When you next visit, ask for a bottle of Old Harry. Take it home, settle down in your comfiest sofa with Holsts Planets playing quietly in the background ,and prepare for the acceptance of perfection……
I love there old school design. That 1l is huge bottle 😅 I got glenfarclas 12 too, bought it for great price. Looking forward to trying it 😊
GFC prices went up 1-2 years ago, +60-100$ in no time at all : I still have a GFC open at all time : but will not keep too many spare. Maestro Jim, u da mon, for considering GG as alternative . . . (always LOVE this section). Great vid.
Thanks for shining a light on Glenfarclas, Jim.
Been a while that I've had the 12yo and am not hurrying to buy another bottle. Has all to do with my preferences: I do prefer bourbon matured. For those that do like sherry matured whisky, Glenfarclas definately worth checking out and not only because Glenfarclas is more friendly to your wallet than a lot of other sherry matured whiskies. (Just checked: in NL I found a litre under €40 ...)
Slàinte mhath
@@peathead4450 cheers Frank. That was well put 🙏
Still have a few bottles of the 105, which I really enjoy, have not come across the 12 year old in my area.
There's another big brand whisky I haven't bought any expression from. Cheers Jim 🥃👍
@@neillaverty9881 one day mate 😄😄. Cheers.
Hi Jim haven’t had the 12 for a number of years but at around €50 for a litre bottle it’s a pretty good price. What does Alan (the whisky friend) call the Glenfarclas 12, “ the dangerous dram “. Was pretty disappointed with my last two offerings of Glenfarclas though . Enjoyed your review Jim Slàinte 🥃.
Just recently reviewed the 15 and had a similar experience to you mate. The casks are too tired IMO.
Nice to see you not (sort of) almost choking on a 12 yo, Jim :)
I had a bottle of this uhm 6-7 years ago, don't remember much about it, I have to admit other than me thinking it was "decent". It was before my whisky journey started, so no wonder that I don't remember a lot about it.
Since then, I've only had the 15 and 21 yo.
Cheers, enjoyed watching you actually enjoy the whisky at display 😊🥃
@@bennyfriis601 cheers Benny. I don't dislike all whisky but...given the comments I've had on this review, I'm starting to think I come across as someone who dislikes all whiskies 😄😄
In fairness..."decent" sums this up well. I wouldn't replace it but, I will enjoy my time with it.
@@WhiskeyNovice Nah, it's not that bad 😅
I don't see you as "he who dislikes all whiskies" - I just recognize (and appreciate) that you have "taken one for the team" quite a few times, even if it has been voluntarily.
@@bennyfriis601 😄😉
Great review Jim I have tried it and it just doesn't grab me. BTW McIntyres Malts has just reviewed the 15 YO and it is surprising how close your reviews are to each other.
