We did the exact same thing six months ago. They helped us declutter our entire house; attic to basement! Yes it cause us a mini Harvard tuition! Twenty -five bags of clutter, 17 bags of clothing and a bunch of other things we donated. How long did it taje? Three weeks and it was difficult, I cried, cursed, at the end it was worth it!
@Tessie Doberman: How did you find your right person? How long did it take and how many hours did you/you all have to put in? And how did they charge… hourly?
Excellent decision! I loved my time working with an organizer. At a certain point I learned it is sometimes better to spend money to save time, than it is to spend time to save money.
@@lauramitchell6725 I am in NJ. It was a few years ago but I think the package was about $1000, actually for probably 5 2 to 3 hour sessions. So about $100 an hour.
I love how you got your kids completely involved by being their own voice in what they want to get rid of or keep! I need to step back and let mine do the same!
That’s awesome I’m happy for you. I asked my husband (only child) last year for that for a professional organizer to help me get organized. He said no. I’m a stay at home mom. I work two days only at his job as a receptionist. I mostly spend my days with our kids 5 and 2 both get therapy. I go through stages of depression and I go through anxiety. I probably have adhd too but never been diagnosed. I’ve been a stay at home mom for 7yrs. I told my husband last yr I wanted this to maybe help with my depression and anxiety but him AND my mother in law (we live with her, he won’t move) both cheap said why are we going to pay money when it’s going to get messy again it’s a waste of money. And she said you can do it yourself for free. I said I can’t I get overwhelmed easily and gives me anxiety and with both kids home. They said we’ll make time and just try it. My husband has made fun of me me that me cleaning up is like the construction on the streets of LA taking forever. Till this day I realize they don’t give a crap about me or my mental health. I’m happy to see you got help. That’s awesome. Proud of you.
My mom used the “slob sisters” 3x5 card system when I was little & everything was done, clean, organized - with 7 kids at the time. Then, we moved & my parents divorced (this was 30 years ago)She was never the same with cleaning. My younger sister doesn’t ever remember having a clean home, and I couldn’t usually invite friends over. It wasn’t hoarders but it was never really clean. Honestly, I think something inside her said “I cleaned & my marriage still fell apart”, so she just faces a mental block with it. I cleaned her bedroom for her for her birthday…she was so grateful she gave me a hug & said “it was really upsetting me” & she was so much happier now that I cleaned it. It’s not that she couldn’t, but it does help when someone jump starts you or just does it once in a while. It can be mentally overwhelming. She’s not depressed per se, but that area is really really hard for her…desiring to have it clean but not able to perform it. I hope you get some cleaning help & hope your family realizes how important it is. It is hard for me at times too! A clean home does mentally lift your spirits as well. My husband does almost zero housework, but when he sees I’ve had a hard day (I work PT at home) he will vacuum or do a load of dishes. It means a lot, honestly. ❤
Oh gosh... That sounds like a really hard and unhealthy situation. Getting help from professionals and support and understanding from family is healthy.
@@kseniaeverton8089 yea I agree. I think I just have to save up money and do it on my own. I few for people that have a messy home now because I know it’s not easy it’s not laziness it’s a mental health thing.
We took the Dave Ramsey class and taught it three times to our church. We are officially debt free this year, as our last thing we owed on (our house) finally sold. I understand your hesitancy Jia as for about 11 years we were paying off our debt while at the same time sending our son to college and graduating debt free. Those days we were happy to share a meal at McDonald's..to sacrifice for the ultimate goal and leave a wonderful legacy for our kids! It was two years ago we were going to celebrate our 25th anniversary but then Covid hit and the world shut down. Now, we're ready to celebrate and the thought of even spending 10k on our belated 25th is still very hard to swallow, but we can honestly say it was worth it and God has allowed us the finances to finally celebrate in Italy! You need to invest in yourself, your mental health, and not feel guilty to reward yourself for years of sacrifice every now and again ☺
That's amazing! Hubby and I were able to go to Italy this past May as a combination retirement and 30 year anniversary trip. We had to reschedule twice due to Covid, but finally got to go and it was so amazing. 11 days exploring Italy was a dream come true for us and a trip of a lifetime.
@@rayray91764 Soak in every moment. We took hundreds of pictures. My only regret, not taking more videos. Just video the comings and goings of people around you if you can. Just watching life on the island of Capri was a favorite of mine.
Way to go on really starting the process and seeking help in an area where you don't feel super strong. As you exercise those decluttering muscles you will find that your shopping habits will change. I know you look for deals, but it's not really a deal when you don't really need it and it will just wind up not being used or tossed aside. I love that your girls were delighted and even purged more. I am sure they felt the weight of all the excess in their closet. You gave them a wonderful gift!!
My mom gave me the great gift of frugality and I took it to a new level in my 30s. The day finally came when I wondered when I was going to start spending my money. That was a turning point. Learning to spend for luxuries I love was so hard at first, now I'm settling in and not holding back -- but don't ever overdo. Great step! Keep it up.
Teaching your daughters to know what they like and don't like and being respectful of their decisions is so valuable to who they will turn out to be. I get my 8 year old daughter to declutter all of her things, she knows that there is a keep, maybe and goodbye pile and she has gotten really good over the years at making decisions. It is sometimes hard for me to let go of expensive unused items or sentimental items, but I have to respect her choices. Just last week she helped her 12 year old cousin do a major declutter of her wardrobe and she was brilliant at it and super encouraging and helpful to her big cousin, who did a fantastic job of letting go of clothing that she was not going to wear any more.
Gia, girl I have watched you battle the clutter for years to the point that I had to take a break from several channels including yours because it would trigger my anxiety. I turned 41 a few days ago and am now revisiting old channels that I once loved to see if they still spark joy. Girl, I have the biggest smile on my face watching your video because you are FINALLY doing something for yourself and your mental health by hiring a professional to guide you and it’s beautiful to see your personal growth. It’s crazy what turning 40 does to a woman. It’s like a rebirth of our mind and soul. Get it girl! I’m proud of you and look forward to catching up with your content that I’ve missed. Happy holidays to you and your beautiful family. 💛
I appreciate your honesty and perspective. I work full time and like to have a really clean house, but I just don’t want to spend my time off mopping floors. So I lay someone to come every 2 weeks and do the deep cleaning and it so worth it.
I have had a very rough week and this morning after I got done with another round of craziness I settled down with TH-cam. Then I thought to myself "What is Jia up to? It's been awhile since I watched her". Let me tell you that this video resonated with me so much! I sat here crying, just thinking about how inspiring you are. You are such a great mother, and seem like such a genuine person. Thank you for your videos. They really do help inspire others.
Wow! Once again, your wise words resonated so well with me! I understand what you’re saying completely! You have inspired me to get help as well! Thank you for making these videos. I don’t know if you realize it, but it’s sort of a ministry and allows the Lord to work through you and help others. Thank you!
I'm a professional home organizer and it is my dream job!! I love giving people back their spaces and peace at home. I am passionate about the difference it makes for people. So glad you did this for yourself and family!! 😁🙌❤️
May I ask what state you live in and a ballpark of your fees? Then I can quietly make a plan.😬 ( just to clarify,I’m sure that you don’t live near me,but if I could gauge your area and rates, I would know what I would have to save up for. Thanks in advance 👌
@@lauramitchell6725 Sure! I live in Oregon and I charge $150 for three hours. I also offer discounts for packages with multiple sessions. 😁 Wishing you the best! 😁🙌❤️
That's awesome! Sometimes you just need to spend the money and not feel guilty about it and get some help! Nothing wrong with having your hand held through the process and being encouraged along the way! You must feel so refreshed to get rid of all that unwanted stuff! Way to get it done!
Not second-guessing what they choose to declutter is huge! I caught myself doing that today while decluttering with my kids and thought about it. So funny to hear it now in a video. So many good nuggets of wisdom in this video, Jia! 🙌
Gia your house is large as well, I think you should have a cleaning service come in once a month to do a deep clean as well. I watch many TH-camrs that hire cleaning services to get things done. You can even get a local decorator to help you put your master bedroom together. I think it is really important to have you and your partners personal space decorated and a space of peace as well as romance. Give the room a vibe that's just for you guys.
I think this is valuable information but, I really wish we could stop saying master bedroom you instead we could say you and your husband's bedroom is a great way to describe her bedroom.
Ghia, I’m almost halfway through the video and I just have to say IM SO PROUD OF YOU!!! Hearing you say “I went through all the books.” I went through all of this or that and I can’t help but smile and feel proud of you knowing how much decision fatigue affects you. Go you Ghia!! 🎉🎉
I'm so glad you did this for yourself and for your family! I fully beleive that the cost for professional help in this area specifically SAVES you money. If you're unable to get there yourself, you often spend smaller amounts of money time and time again on supplies to try and do it yourself...only to find yourself doing it again the following year. Also, we overbuy because we can't find things. I'm pretty good and decluttering and organizing but I still have someone come in from time to time when I see things start to get out of hand because I KNOW letting it continue on that path will end the end, cost me money and cost me stress! I'm so very happy for you. And I TOTALLY and COMPLETELY agree with the underlying messages we send to our kids! Buy 1 thing you REALLY want instead of 17 things that you only kind of like. YOU. DESERVE. IT!
Beautiful to hear how you’ve grown! My attitude toward “stuff” has also changed over the years. Now I value space over “things”. It takes a long time to change. Love your “dream big” attitude 👏
“…The beginning phase of people pleasing” This was a trigger for me because my Mom would constantly make me second guess myself (unintentionally). It creates insecurity on top of being passive (people pleasing). Kudos to you for paying attention to such a thing. Great video! 💖
Jia, we would still continue to love to see your shop with mes, even if you don’t purchase every item. There were times I watched and felt you would feel guilt for leaving an item at the store and not getting it when it was on sale, but also seeing all the bags of stuff that you are releasing from house, is kind of a testament to not needing all the “stuff”. We love your commentary, so even if you don’t buy the items, I still won’t mind watching you talk about them 😊 and thank you for giving us stressed out moms the permission to call in help or the experts. A lot of us women carry a lot of the weight on our shoulders and feel less than if we can’t “do it all” but it gets overwhelming.
Soooo glad to hear that you donated! Certain broken things like baskets will be taken, as they can be repaired or repurposed. Feels good to get organized!
Oh my goodness!!! My husband, of 32 years, and I were just talking about this issue last month! We have always been frugal and still have his and mine furniture from our single days. Yes, we have been in a frugal rut. The kids have been out of the house for a couple years and we plan on making 2023 the year of us. We plan on replacing our old single days furniture with good quality pieces. We're actually really enjoying the process. I'm glad you're doing this now for yourself and not waiting till your in your 50's. :) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours.
Thank you for sharing your journey! I am 22 and just like your kiddos saying "oh but that's a lot of money" even when I've been given permission to spend! You also articulated super well, "you don't know how to not eat those beans and rice all the time." I really relate with that! I grew up with not much money, pretty frugal, always looking for the best deals. Thankfully through all of that my mom still managed to instill this in me: Don't buy something just because it's on sale, buy it because you planned to buy it already and will save some money now. Also, buying lots of cheap things actually adds up to costing more than buying one expensive thing, so invest more money in the things you will really use for a long time." She's a budgeting queen but I'm thankful she taught me to invest in things that are important.
I’m glad you’ve invested in your mental wellness! My daughter is a professional organizer and when she helps me I feel sooo much better! Less is more! It’s easier to maintain order because of everything has a “home”.
I love your reflection on how you talk to your girls about this and letting them decide. It also took me some time to learn to follow my daughter's own gut when it comes to her own clothing, and not convince her to keep things she doesn't like. The frugal mindset is also one that I struggle with and I don't want to pass on the fear of being without money to my kids, yet also foster this idea of using money to create the life you want, not just buying stuff for the instant gratification. Great video!
You have such a joyful spirit! Thank you for sharing your honest journey. Many of us are struggling with the same issues, and you gave us valuable insight and wisdom. 🥰💖
When you talked about reinforcing and encouraging your children to make their own decisions, that really hit. It gives such a new perspective on allowing them to be autonomous with their belongings. Love it! My daughter is still under 2, but it's something I will keep in my mind as she grows. I love that. ❤️ I really need to try the Marie Kondo method myself, I watched her show, and when she explained why she follows those steps it seems like a really cleansing process for the mind, body, and soul.
🤍 How FUN !!!!!!! I Marie Kondo’d my home. It is a continual, joyful process in terms of editing too. I’d love to see more of your professional Marie Kondo process. I listen to “Spark Joy”, and “The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up”, over and over as I work through the process.
Proud of you. By doing this, you are teaching yourself and girls to be accountable for your own stuff. It shouldn't be all on one person to declutter for many people. Daily habit to declutter and to put on your calendar to declutter each week. An hour here and an hour there really helps.
Oh Gosh how I wish your videos decluttering your house were numbered so I could watch them step by step! Lol! Love these and Congratulations on organizing the things that bring you joy!
I follow The Minimal Mom channel because she decluttered 80% of her items over the past years and she started when her four kids were about ages four to eight. (Yes, four kids in five years!) You are experiencing the benefits of a simplified home! She gives tips for teaching your kids how to learn this, how to keep your inventory down, and to realize this will be an ongoing process forever because things are always coming into our home. Your decluttering muscles will get stronger and stronger.
It's HUGE that you're modeling learning to asking for help when one needs it & that IS OK to do. It's not only normal, but actually a sign of strength to be able to RECOGNIZE & ACT on needing help. No judgment, shame or embarrrassment needed. Keep up your Good Work!
Omgoodness yes!!! When you speak about being in a frugal mindset I swear you spoke straight to me. I was frugal (still am) to the point that I could have been on the extreme couponing show lol I did it to save money for my first home. Now that I finally own a home it’s hard to switch to quality over quantity. Also with being frugal you get into a habit of just getting things that are cheap instead of getting something that you actually like. So now I feel like I’m learning who I am & what’s my style
Just watched this video as a declutterer. Loved your comments about Ramsey and financial work but also about being willing to spend money on something of true value. Kudos for you for ALL you've been doing to improve your life and that of your family!
Your videos have inspired me to declutter as well. I am looking for things that I can get throw out of the house. Thank you for the inspiration. Sometimes you just need a little help to get motivated. The in-laws will just love you.
Jia. Loved this video. Sometimes I would get stressed watching you be stressed over the decision fatigue that you experience so I'm happy you got some help. Also I LOVE seeing the change in perspective that women go through after turning 40. I think it's magical and makes me excited about getting older. As with everything, balance is always needed...even when it comes to DR because his methods aren't always the most effective for long term happiness. ❤️
Thank you for sharing that important lesson of not second guessing kids' decisions! You helped more than just your kids by explaining that to us! So grateful
Yes, that frugal mindset is difficult to pull away from. My husband and I have worked hard to progressively pay off debts and live mortgage free. Now, we're in a position where we can buy a few luxuries and it is so difficult to justify the spend, without guilt setting in. But, we are gradually spreading our wings and enjoying some meaningful purchases. As for the decluttering, it's one of the most freeing things I've ever done. I have more to do but I am so excited about what's ahead! Thank you for this most honest and wonderful video!
Yes, I love the Kon Marie method & asking for help is in no way something to feel bad about. It's a form of support and therapy to help lessen the burden on yourself ❤️
I LOVE that you stated your girls are at an age where they need their own spaces. We all need some personal space, and clearing the clutter is setting such a good example for them to follow.
Jia, I'm so happy you shared this. I had the same struggle, but if you have the means, then you should allow yourself to splurge on certain things. I also think you transitioning to 40 is a part of it. There's something about 40 that gets you to want more, do more, and enjoy life.
So much that hit home for me! Good for you to let your girls make their own decisions. With your explanation I realized that I was totally “trained” as a people pleaser and making decisions for myself is so hard. I’ve been working on it and have made some progress, but it’s so hard. I’m sure your girls feel good to be able to make your own decisions.
Great video! I can totally understand and relate with the being frugal- but it sounds like you made a very wise and effective INVESTMENT into your home, your family life, and overall well being in hiring a professional declutterer!
I love that you recognized that you need help and hired someone to give you the help and guidance you need. You are investing in your family’s comfort, well-being and happiness, and there is nothing more important than that. ☺️
I have never seen someone come in a clean like this, but it is something that I love doing with my friends (I can see the organization and rearranging under the piles of things that they miss being in the thick of things) but had no idea you could be certified in this as a job. I love your spaces 🥰 good job getting things taken care of, that will definitely help you relax for the Christmas season and the new year
OMG I needed to watch this. Thank you so so much. That thing (that happens a lot within the family) of buying things that are at good price points, but not that necessary, has caused an explosion of THINGS everywhere. That has definitely shifted into the need for mental healthiness.
Hiring help is an extremely wonderful gift to give yourself and family. People don’t always think about the mental health issues attached with decluttering. I’m thinking of hiring someone because it won’t be a struggle but pure joy to have a knowledgeable person helping me. Great video and new subscriber here. Thank you.
Loved that you hired someone to help. I feel like I need one to really get into decluttering my things. I grew up in a house where anything that could be useful was saved. Have a short with holes in it? Don’t throw it out save it for rags. I feel like I’ve become a pack rat over the years and definitely feel overwhelmed like you do when I need to go through and really purge.
Your words resonate with me. I've been working so hard to not spend money that now I spend literal months thinking of buying a certain item that I want. It's important to not just have the bare bones of what you need. It's important to enjoy life too.
I hope Dave Ramsey or someone on his staff sees this. I often wish he would focus more on the days when it is no longer rice and beans, beans and rice but the days of living like no one else. We got there and still can't seem to live without fighting that save it all, don't spend and live with old crap. My husband keeps convincing himself that his 20 year old recliner is "just fine" while it hurts to sit in it! I am so glad you shared this! You bless us all so in your walk to discernment and being a good steward. I pray you (and we) find balance in the blessings we have.
I completely understand. It’s like we work so hard to get to a certain point that your mind gets kind of stuck in a pattern of making every decision based on price.
Right on! Hit the nail on the head with being frugal then finding the transition to having the ability to spend on the finer things in life. New subie! From Tucson AZ ❣️
First time watching your channel, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. You’re like chatting with a friend. I can hear myself saying yes , I agree. 😂 Great insight , thank you and looking forward to watching more.
You have really spoken to me and inspired me today! I never think about doing something like this for myself/family. I only have one kiddo and she accumulates so much 'stuff'..... pictures, books, toys, clothes.... and the list goes on! This will be my goal by the end of the year... it's going down! Thanks for this video! I needed to hear that I am not the only one struggling with this.
You are so wise when you say decluttering will always be something you do and not a final destination. I finally admitted that to myself after years of asking myself why can't I keep things more tidy all the time. Accepted me as is and do my best.
Great video! I appreciated your words, "hodgepodge" That is how I feel my house is and that is not what I want. I wish I had that option. Wow! I am totally overwhelmed with my house of craft (yarn, fabric, etc.) I want organization in my house.
I just ran across your video and I am so impressed! I have OCD and a lifelong struggle with clutter. I will never not struggle, but I realize that and accept it. Most people don't understand and some are cruel, but it's nice to see that I am not alone. I will be checking out some of your other videos now lol! Blessings
This was such an inspiring video. Like you I often keep things or buy things on sale "just in case" we might need it. I sometimes feel like paying full price for something nice is a sin...LOL. I am inspired mostly by your word EXECUTE. Because like you I also just entered my 40s and I feel like I need to make changes in my life. Let's make some changes girl!!! Here's to 2023. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Thank you so much for the inspiration. My husband and I are in baby step 2 of Dave Ramsey and hearing how other people have finished that one is helpful to us to keep going.
I love how you teach your kids to invest in important stuff. Parents usually teach their kids to save money and to go for "a good deal" and not what is best. I am now in my twenties and am still trying to learn that I can buy a pair of jeans that is on the more expensive side because I am wearing them every single day. You can buy 3 cheep and ugly pants or you can buy one that is more expensive, but suits you best and lasts longer.
Jia - I love your thought process here! As a fellow professional organiser (Canada) I really work hard to help people reason through the ideas you’ve shared. Bravo! I hope you continue to have maintenance sessions with Jessica. Like the taxes, facials etc that you mentioned, they are not a one and done. It’s a lifestyle choice.🤩
Great job, decluttering is something I do all year long and I love it. I feel organized within my home and I feel like I make far better choices when it comes to bringing in new things. My furnishing are nicer, buy my wardrobe reflects my life which is very casual. I purchase almost everything on sale but I look for the best quality I can afford. I declutter my computer (emails & apps), I also declutter paperwork, kitchen, bathroom, my makeup drawer & our closets. We do live minimal but things can still build up just no so much anymore. I love watching THE KARLA PROJECT, here on youtube and her approach is always a nice reminder there are lots of people out there like me who prefer a simpler life. Congratulations on all of your hard work and I’m sure you whole family will join your journey to maintain everything once you get it all together. It also makes the way for the things you really want to come to you. ❤😊
I want to say thanks for the great video and encouragement on decluttering. Today I spent about 4 hours in the master bedroom closet and drawers!!! 4 bags in my trunk to donate and a lg bag of trash 😃. Still have a shelf and shoes. Another day, I’m exhausted!! Feels great.
Thank you for your honesty. I needed to hear this , I’ve been mentally and emotionally in panic mode . As a person moving more into a spiritual space into ministry . I just can’t anymore ! “The Woman that I want to be” really took me because she has been here and I want her to live so watching you have me the discernment I needed to say It’s Okay 🧘🏾♀️. I am not less then because this has been overwhelming and I’m ready to change it .
I came across your channel late last night and watched half of this video before bed. I woke up this morning and was praying for help with the things I struggle and am overwhelmed with, mostly decluttering, organizing and paperwork. Then, I turned on my phone and clicked on TH-cam, and the next thing I heard was you saying that it's okay to hire help, and it's okay not to be good at everything. Also, letting your kids get rid of stuff and what it does for them. I have ADD, learning disabilities and lots of insecurities. I know that I have gifts too, but I overlook my gifts because I feel badly about the things that aren't strengths. Your wisdom was definitely an answer to prayer! We paid off our debt and house this year, and I needed the nudge to spend a little money on my family in getting some help. Thank you so much!!! May God bless your family and Merry Christmas!
You are not your disabilities. You are good at so many things. Let's start focusing on the areas we are talented in instead of the things that hinder us. You got this sis!
After watching Marie Kondo on Netflix, I was inspired. Just getting rid of stuff was so freeing. Every year now I do an inventory of stuff and get rid of more, something very therapeutic about it. I’m happy for you in this organization endeavor.
Oh my this is my first video of yours and I'm an immediate subscriber! ❤️ All you said rings so true to me! We've been on a similar journey and now it's time to bring our home together! Can't wait to see more of your content!
So glad I came across this. I was just looking got videos to do it myself. But it’s so overwhelming to think about. I’m going to look for a professional in my area
Jia, I have followed you from day one! You deserve this...enjoy the transformation and give yourself a pat on the back for the grace you so deserve ❤️ PS and you gave us that budget template for free with no strings attached! May you and your Beautiful family always be Blessed and Highly Favored...Jay from NJ now from GA.
Yaassss Jia yaassss!! I loved this video. Your joy brings me joy. I read in the comments that you will be doing a follow up video. If you can address what strategies the organizer gave you to actually "Let things Go". Girl you were getting rid of things with the quickness! Was there an Ahh-ha moment that made you get rid of stuff or was it possibly the fact you actually had someone there holding you accountable and being the voice of reason? I would have never in a million years thought you would cheerfully get rid of that much stuff. Can't wait to see what else is in store and watch the new and improved 40 old Jia move into her grown woman luxurious life style :). Happy Holidays my friend!
I’ve been working with a professional organizer as well and I love it! I trust her and it’s wonderful not having to come up with all the ideas and decisions on my own. Loved this video!
You share such great words for advice, talent, inspiration, and learning to be very smart about how to keep things together or even come to terms with reality. Thank you for the lessons, I absolutely love what you have to offer! 💕
Funny, I have been thinking about hiring someone to help me as well, as I spend so much time every day to declutter and organize. It’s as you said, good on some (other) skills/ things, but helpless and stuck with decluttering and organizing. Now you have a new skill and are surrounded by peace and things you love. I am glad I found you today, thank you;)
Newbie here. I understand the need to declutter! I am 55. Mother to 5 grown children. My husband is retired military after 33yrs. I cannot tell you the years I went needing to declutter with my 5 kids and all their things! I never did it though. Now we are retired and I still need to declutter! We have moved so many times over the years I'm not sure I could count. That always makes for more clutter! I'm excited to watch your video's and hopefully learn some things about organizing.
So happy to hear you coming to this realization and also exhaling how you got to this point. Every time I see you just buying something because it was a really good deal, I think but is it quality. Will it last. Do you love it. Those are the things that truly matter. Not just that it was inexpensive or on sale. Good for you. Looking forward to all that the new year will bring for you and your channel
“It’s ok to ask for help in the things that you’re not strong in” 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 this realization is everything. I love this
We did the exact same thing six months ago.
Was it an hourly rate?
@Tessie Doberman: How did you find your right person? How long did it take and how many hours did you/you all have to put in? And how did they charge… hourly?
As a (recovering?) People Pleaser, I'm so overjoyed to hear you're raising your girls to be strong women. Thank you!
Excellent decision! I loved my time working with an organizer. At a certain point I learned it is sometimes better to spend money to save time, than it is to spend time to save money.
That is something I appreciate hearing. I come from a family that sacrifices time.
Was it an hourly rate?
@@lauramitchell6725 it was a 5 to 6 hour package, similar to what Jia describes in her follow up to this video.
@@ptt218 was it like $500.00 ish or am I still way off?
@@lauramitchell6725 I am in NJ. It was a few years ago but I think the package was about $1000, actually for probably 5 2 to 3 hour sessions. So about $100 an hour.
I love how you got your kids completely involved by being their own voice in what they want to get rid of or keep! I need to step back and let mine do the same!
I do this with my 7 year old. She decides what toys will be donated.
@@noelc2 Thank you. A mess can really affect your mental health.
@143taina lol yup
Congratulation! You have beautiful testimony!
@@donnastratton8397 Oh congratulations to you two! Yes, our Italy trip will be our first trip outside of North America, and we can't wait!
@@rayray91764 Soak in every moment. We took hundreds of pictures. My only regret, not taking more videos. Just video the comings and goings of people around you if you can. Just watching life on the island of Capri was a favorite of mine.
@@donnastratton8397 Thanks for the advice!
You’re such a loving wife, person, and mom Jia. Be encouraged.
Great step! Keep it up.
I always say, save some, spend some.
I am now selling stuff and hope to be able to travel once again.
I just turned 40, I’m hoping to implement some serious changes in my life this year and I’m excited!!!!
Thank you!
I pray daily that the Holy Spirit moves through us all!
I'm a professional home organizer and it is my dream job!! I love giving people back their spaces and peace at home. I am passionate about the difference it makes for people. So glad you did this for yourself and family!! 😁🙌❤️
May I ask what state you live in and a ballpark of your fees? Then I can quietly make a plan.😬

@@DivinevirgoFeminine I guess you could say the Primary Bedroom? When you label it on a drawing it does need some kind of name...
Owner's Retreat...
You could say the couple's bedroom
No to the decorator, watch the Feng shui guy on TH-cam. You can do it yourself, without buying more and more décor stuff.
This video was so refreshing! I would love to hear more about your experience with a professional declutterer/organizer in the future.
By far this is the best decluttering video i've seen. Great tips about getting your mental state to a place to take action.
Yes, yes, yes! I’m 58 and am just learning this concept. First time viewer, looking forward to watching more. 💕
Congrats Jia! I can tell how much lighter you feel. Looking forward to seeing the results of your sessions. Happy Holidays to y’all 😊
It's HUGE that you're modeling learning to asking for help when one needs it & that IS OK to do.
You are so real and down to earth! I'm glad to have found your page and can't wait to see more of your videos.
So grateful
I absolutely love how you describe your thought process b/c that’s exactly how I feel
I just know this money spent is way better than that $1k on those Xmas lights. Okkkkkkur
You deserve this Jia!!!
Girl yes!
I love your spaces 🥰 good job getting things taken care of, that will definitely help you relax for the Christmas season and the new year
Outstanding! Great words to start the New Year! Thank you.
You are not alone my sister ❤️🙏🏽 Grant yourself grace & celebrate small wins each day 😘
Your words resonate with me.

You have really spoken to me and inspired me today! I never think about doing something like this for myself/family. This has been THE BEST ADVICE I've heard all year. Thank you so much.

Wow!

So happy for you Jia. You are getting what you need and want out of life. 💚

Funny, I have been thinking about hiring someone to help me as well, as I spend so much time every day to declutter and organize.

Now you have a new skill and are surrounded by peace and things you love.
I am glad I found you today, thank you;)
You are teaching your girls great life lessons, good job Mom. GOD bless.
Stumbled upon this video and it has some great advice and messages that I'll remember - really enjoyed it :)
This has so much value! I love this mindset! Thank you!
I am so happy to have found you and your channel! I have subscribed and now it’s time binge watch! Have a blessed day! January 12, 2023
