Your channel has just popped up I am 6 weeks post posterior surgery. I wish you well in your recovery. As a very fit women in my 60's, I thought this hip replacement was going to be easier for me, the night before surgery I still went to the gym and took part in a spin class. I have had my ups and downs and I think it is good to point out that everyone is different nothing is text book in recovery. I have had set backs with pain having got rid of my canes at three weeks, I now still take one out with me which I carry just in case the groin pain starts, or I start to feel tired which has happened. This week I saw the surgeon, as I felt pain I also have heat and redness around the incision, which has healed beautifully no problem there, my ankle is also swollen for the first time. The surgeon said that the good news is that there is no infection, that I most likely have inflammation due to my increase level of activity and I was advised not to worry and keep walking, that at 6 weeks it is still early days, but everything is on track. I like many people want back to the gym, I am a road cyclist and was a marathon running, although my running days are over. I met a lady in hospital having hip surgery we kept in touch she is 86 years old, at three weeks while I was taking to my bed because of pain, she was out shopping no cane, she was cooking, cleaning and looking after herself and I felt OH NO there is something wrong with me, this should be me, because I am fit and healthy. I now know there is nothing wrong with me, we are all different and heal differently, so anyone reading this, do not stress seeing others moving forward, soon that will be you.

Appreciate you sharing that. I also experiences “other people healing faster than me” with my first one. Like you said, everyone’s path is different. Be patient and you will be back to doing what you love! 👊💪

@@russyeager Thank you, I have walked this morning and just done 20 min on my static bike, I am lucky I have a gym at home. The other reason I feel I am very blessed is I breath fresh air and I see beautiful scenery when I walk, I do not have the hot, hot, hot weather of other counties, but I am glad to be recovering at home in Scotland

I can relate this, went gym the day before surgery and also got the swollen ankle and swollen foot. Just gotta patient which is incredibly hard. Also hate sleeping on back so have to sleep on unoperated side some of time with a pillow to support. Trying to be grateful and enjoy having to slow down for a bit.

Great video - I’m 9 days post anterior hip and have a similar experience so far. There are days where I feel pretty good, less pain and get excited thinking I’m close to recovery, only to have a rough night and following day that feels like a big setback. One thing I’m learning is to slow down… take it a little easier and not overdo it on the good days. Everyone heals differently and the best course for me has been to treat each day as a success with gradual progress instead of competing with my body to try and speed up the recovery

Had my THR on 6 /3/24 and that's my biggest thing trying to be patient. Good luck to everyone that's been through it or about to go through it.

16 days out from full posterior hip replacement. Started PT day three. Ditched walker day five. Started driving day seven. Stopped using cane in the house day eight (still take it with me in public so people give me wide berth). Surgery center gave me one dose of Tramadol, but only took Tylenol and Aleve (plus aspirin for blood thinning and an antibiotic for a week) at home. Went back to work yesterday part-time. Agree that it’s not a cakewalk, and recovery is not linear - feeling, better, making progress … then feel achy and swollen and crappy. But then gets better again. The surgeon was a godsend and the surgery was a miracle.

Thanks for you video. 13 days out and on a cane now. Frustrating at times when I see YT vids with people "up and walking" w/o assistance at day 3. Really?? Your video is more in line with my experience. The process is longer than expected with ups, downs and frustrations on the way. My doc (in central NH) advised to "play long ball". There are days I'm very aggravated with pain, etc. Other days I feel good and like I've made progress. Still sleeping on my recliner (the one I thought was comfortable until I slept on it for 2 weeks) and looking forward to that first, comfortable night in my own bed. Anyway, good luck to all.

The not working out is hard! I am one week after total hip replacement and starting to miss it but aiming to build up the walking gradually and do my toning physio exercises and will hopefully be doing upper body stretches soon as miss that too!

I'm a few weeks out for hip replacement.. completely immobile at this moment my right hip is completely gone and my left hip is bone on bone really becoming anxious and frustrated about all the hoops I've been having to jump through. Thanks for sharing. It's nice to see a success story. It inspires me

      Don’t give up
I did a full hip replacement on my left hip 8 years ago. It dislocated 8 days after surgery and took 4 years to really recover but I didn’t quit and it is good now
