Point Of Entry definitely has some great tracks. The album starts with a couple of great straight forward rockers, ”Heading out” and ”Hot rockin’”. After that it gets even better with ”Turning Circles”, ”Desert Plains” and ”Solar Angels”. Some fillers after that, but ”All the way” is fun! There isn’t a weak track on Countdown To Extinction, it’s a masterpiece like its predecessor in my opinion. Take care Darcy🤘

Bonded are former members of Sodom. They have 2 albums with Century media 2020, 2021. The first one features Blitz! Headhunter is Schmier (Destruction) and Jörg Michael! They have 4 super power-thrash albums. 1990, 1992, 1994 and a short reunion in 2008. It was released in 2008 by AFM records. Gomorra is a brand new band led by Damir (Destruction). Classic power. They have 2 albums 2020, 2022.

Good topic Darcy. And some good examples of some very good albums that kept the bands momentum going. Priest was one that came to mind straight away for a big drop off, like you say it has some good songs on it, but overall it's not as strong as what came before it or after it.
Saxon has a good one with wheels, strong arm, denim and leather and I think power and the glory is up there with those releases. I think this topic probably could have a second part to it if you have enough albums.

In the summer of 1990 I was on vacation with my family and I had some pocket money I had saved for buying my third metal album ever (the first one was IM's Killers and WASP's The Headless Children-All of them were in cassette format by the way) . I remember at the record store, I was in between buying So Far, So good... So what! and State of Euphoria and I chose the former one. I don't know what's the reason for buying So far, I was probably deciding based on the album covers. I even remember I was hesitant buying So Far because it had only eight songs on the album. Anyways I was glad with my choise later on.

'LCR', 'The Art...' and 'SFL' was a really strong run for Suicidal, in my eyes. I'll always take my hat off to Bon Jovi for following up 'Slippery...' with a much more mature, and better, album in 'New Jersey'.

    Some examples I have:
    The Black Album - Load:
I really love Load actually, more than The Black Album by a long shot! Hero of the Day, Outlaw Torn, Mama Said...
so many good, blues / country style tracks that are dirgy at times and just seem more emotional than they ever had done before! Love that shit.
    No More Tears - Ozzmosis:
Once again the biggest commercial and critical success, followed up years later with what was essentially a dud in both regards.
I personally highly enjoy this album, I think Ozzy sounds killer, and I think Zakk Wylde (while his playing wasn't at the level of No More Tears), did well.
Perry Mason, Tomorrow, Whole World's Falling Down. Just so much heavy, heavy shit!
Seasons in the Abyss - Divine Intervention:
Never understood the hate here, the last great Slayer album by my books, and we had Paul Bostaph going ballistic on the kit, what more can we ask for!

State Of Euphoria was my introduction to Anthrax and to this day is my favourite from them. Now It's Dark is my favourite track. Lights Camera Revolution is my fav by Suicidal followed by Suicidal For Life which I played to death when I was in a bad mood and listening to it always took the edge off. I have never delved into Corrosion. Heard a track or two over the years but that's about it. Countdown is a great album but deffinatly going on the lighter side. I love Rust In Peace but for me So Far So Good So What is always my go to album. To be honest I have never heard Point Of Entry. British Steel is legendary in my book. I love the chorus in the song United. For me Dog Eat Dog By Warrant was an underated album. I think it just came out at the wrong time. Cherry pie was such a huge album financially for the band but I feel Dog Eat Dog is better and heavier. Awesome video mate😃🤘

I had thoughts on a few follow up albums but I thought I wrote too much already. 😂1: Celtic Frost-Into the Pandemonium. I can not get into it. I love to Mega Therion, but they just went too far out there too fast. Loved Vanity/Nemesis though. DBC-Universe. The first Dead Brain Cells is one of my favorite thrash albums, but I can't get into Universe. Where it took Voivod 4 albums to get to the brillance of Dimension Hatross, DBC tried to do it in 2. It was too big of a leap too soon. The vocals bore me. Down-Down 2. I love this album, but everyone just cases about Nola. Death Angel-Frolic through the Park. I hated it when it came out. I enjoy it now though. Where Ultra Violence was pure Ride The Lightning worship, by Frolic it felt they were all being influenced by different types of music and they wanted to put those influences into one album, and it's just not cohesive. They hadn't developed enough as song writers. I think by Act 3 they had and they perfected what they tried to do with Frolic. I have opinions on South of Heaven too, but that just gets the Slayer fans upset, and I'm a Slayer, just not of South of Heaven. For me Slayer perfected on Seasons what they failed on South of Heaven.

You should really get COC-No Cross, No Crown. It is everything worth loving about Pepper era COC. Skip the 2 albums they did without Pepper in the 2000s. I love the riffs and songs, BUT I can't get on board with the vocals. I was excited when I heard Mike was doing vocals because Animosity was my first COC album, and I love 6 songs with Mike Dean. But his vocals aren't the same anymore. I like American Volume Dealer but It's their Load album. They really did the same thing. They were rebranded as COC, you won't find Corrosion of Conformity anywhere on the album. Pepper trimmed his hair too. I remember before it came out I was reading a small blurb article in the drug store, where I bought my metal mags, that Columbia records dropped COC after hearing the demos for AVD, and that the songs lacked the Sabbathesque riffs of previous albums. I was so worried 😂And then Reed Mullin left the band and did an interview criticising the album. He said it's his least favorite drumming album. He said he prefers political songs, but Pepper likes writing about relationships and then he said "We're not corroding much conformity these days " 😆

I just looked them up, good traditional sounding metal. I see their album is on Floga Records too. Thanks for the recommendation 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy

Balls to the Wall to Metal Heart
The Dark to Blessing in Disguise.
Reign in Blood to South of Heaven. Took a while for me.
Testament. The New Order. I thought Practice what you Preach was a bit of a drop off.
Death Angel debut to Frolic in the Park. Got some great songs on it
    Love State of Euphoria.
Not a fan of Point of Entry save for a couple of songs

Some great examples there! I love how Slayer slowed everything down on South Of Heaven, I remember when I first heard the opening riff on Mandatory Suicide … I was like faahk yeah lol. Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Steve

Blessing in Disguise is excellent. Different singer than The Dark. Used to listen to Practice What You Preach but fell off Testament. Wake the Dead by Suicidal Tendencies another excellent lp but I stopped listening after. Stopped listening to Judas Priest after Stained Class but years later came Painkiller! One of my favorite comeback albums.

I fall into the people who hated Art of Rebellion 😂couple good tracks on there though. Probably the best albums they did after that are Freedumb and World Gone Mad. World Gone Mad was a lot better then I was expecting it to be because of how average 13 was. Plus ST got over self indulgent of releasing albums and EPs that are just full of re-recorded tracks from their early days, and some of them are terrible. Agree on 100% on Anthrax. Agree on Wiseblood. I like it, but my original thoughts were that it's too polished. It sounds like a major label album. Really lacks the grit of Deliverance. Hot Take: I enjoy CTI and Youthenasia more then RIP. I just feel like song writing is more mature. Not a fan of Cryptic Writings and Risk though. You can seriously get off the Megadeth train, without consequences, after Youthenasia and not miss much. Maybe snag Hidden Treasures, End Game and United Abominations. Megadeth needs a greatest hits 2000s-present album, because that would be worth owning more then all the albums they'v e done. I go back to Point of Entry more then any Judas Priest album now. I didn't have it as a teenager because I never saw it in the record store. I never heard it until like 2010 when I started getting back into Priest. It's a great album that should have come out before British Steel.

Got Point of Entry when it was released. I thought it was meh.. ( a couple of great songs but that's about it). I've listened to it now that I'm older and wiser....sorry, but I stil think it's meh😑

Just seeing the well-placed Exciter album there, which I still dig a lot and gets too much crap. Likewise, Condition Critical and Point of Entry. I did fall away from Euphoria quite a bit over the years, though. I did drop off with Suicidal after L,C,R, so I'm that guy, I suppose. As for Megadeth, I love Countdown but can only speak for the original mix, as those post-2009 butcherings of the catalog are largely unlistenable to me. Haven't heard COC past Blind, so maybe I'll check into that.

Yes Dave needs to get that shit straightened out! We need proper reissues of all the Capital Years & yes none of those bullshit remixes, those are absolutely tragic lol. Try COC Deliverance, it’s awesome! Have a good weekend 🤘

I know this has nothing to do with your video but do you like prog metal at all maybe something like dream theater?

    • @darcysixstringsninelives3493
      @darcysixstringsninelives3493  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Never been big on Dream Theater, but to be fair I don’t think I’ve given them a proper chance. Some bands I listen to that fall under the progressive metal realm : bands like Queensrÿche, Savatage, Rush & even some Tool once in a while. How about you? Are you excited Mike is back in the band?
