I didn't realize that this was Vanguard and my impression was "Damn this looks like a cheap ripoff of Call of Duty." The graphics have gotten more detailed but everything else still feels 20 years old.

I don't know about these tactics. Drive a couple of trucks into a minefield, then sprint across the minefield, then charge machine guns across a fairly long & open field. Surely there's a better way. The Call of Duty AI hasn't gotten any smarter in 20 years either

A lot of it has to do with making the game move along while still including as much material as possible. When we did research years ago the conclusion is that people got use to not waiting, for anything and they pro created a generation that didn't know what it means to wait. Stay with me, The conclusion to the analysis is: the more realistic the game is the more you wait around gathering players, introductions, talking smack, assigning rank and position, strategy etc. Next thing ya know six hours passed and not one shot has been fired. The people seeking that experience is greatly outweighed by people wanting to kiss their ass good bye while putting the gas pedal to the mat through a mine field. Everyone has fun on a different level. My suggestion for those who except nothing less from a game that deos not represent "IRL" is the following directions" STEP 1: Turn off the gaming counsel. A real life conversation: The Bank: " So your idea is to drive full speed through a mine field, get out and run straight into the barrel of a purring machine gun?" Developer: "Fuck n A right." The Bank: "You are approved." Account limit: "endless funds." Results 20 years later: Was it worth it it? Fuck N A right it was.

If you want an ultra realistic WW2 shooter, play Hell Let Loose. It really doesn't get more gruesome and beautiful than that game. Insurgency Sandstorm is another damn gruesome game.

I actually like this game lol- being a WW2 buff( yes I know the historical inaccuracies) I love WW2 games. WAW is still my favorite- wish a remastered version were to come out. Although I’ve always had fun on the multiplayer side of Call of Duty I’m more interested in the Campaigns.
This mission looks like the battle of Pont Du Hoc during the Normandy invasion. I went to those cliffs where the US rangers climbed up to take out the German artillery guns firing down the beaches. Awesome location to play through in a game.
pretty much every machine gun *did* have tracer rounds in WWII. it's more common and exaggerated in media than in real life i suppose, but in movies and especially video games you need them as visual cues to help show the audience/player what's being shot at.

Make a head on attack into fixed positions defended by MG42s, as well as two half tracks armed with MG34s, take 70% casualties and necessitate a very valuable troop of paras being stood down from further action, all while failing to call off naval bombardment that would have taken out the coastal guns without your intervention. You could have stayed in bed and got a better result. But that’s ‘leadership’ eh? If that were real you would have been put against a wall - and deserved it. Nice graphics though.

Absolutely, I hate it when games come up with this genius battle plan that’s actually completely retarded… I know how we’ll get through the minefield without taking casualties… Let’s roll some trucks into them, detonating maybe 1 or 2 mines, alert all the enemy and then charge through the still very much mined mine field, while under fire from multiple MGs. As you correctly point out, all to take out something that is due to be bombed all to hell in a second anyway.

The graphics do appear "realistic", however the visual experience per se is not realistic. This becomes quite apparent during the first conversation and exposition scenes. The concept of real is quite subjective and the baseline needs to be established first.

My favorite WW2 games were from the Brothers in Arms series, I loved how you could give orders to either the suppressing squad or the flanking squad, this game play reminded me of that. Will be picking this game up for sure. 💯
Same. Hell's Highway is a masterpiece. It truly feels like it captures those smaller battles and how tactical they were. I had a couple of friends who were probably 99th percentile level savages at COD. But I had them play Hell's Highway once and they both quit within ten minutes because they were running out into the open trying to gun down everyone in sight as quickly as possible.
You do realise Kingsley was based on a REAL LIFE BRITISH PARATROOPER Sidney Cornell something that's not tought in schools. Lady Nightingale was actually a FEMALE RUSSIAN SNIPER. THE 93RD INFANTRY were a real Corp of the US army who only had 12 KIA during their campaign. Someone sounds bitter. BROWN PEOPLE DID PLAY A ROLE IN BOTH WW1&WW2 and practically every conflict.
This is by far one of the best campaigns call of duty has had they must’ve known that Cold War was gonna suck and been working on this game is that why we had no anti-cheat in warzone but I’ll tell you I love playing the campaign so far

This is by far one of the best campaigns call of duty has had they must’ve known that Cold War was gonna suck and been working on this game is that why we had no anti-cheat in warzone but I’ll tell you I love playing the campaign so far

Why do these games always have completely a-historical web gear when having historical gear would be so simple?
Ultra realistic graphics but unrealistic campaign, I never understand why they make up history and uniforms when it’s possible to have a enjoyable realistic game instead.
Agreed we want to play it as if we could get the experience of back then ect and relive their stories.
@@AyeMcCloud exactly, the uniforms for me are farcical, on the objectives inaccurate, they could have done it historically accurate an it would have been just as fun.

CoD WW2 suffered from very synthetized, plastic and 'tiny' sound design. Luckily, this time they absolutely nailed audio layer

Don't think this qualifies as a game. Short linear constricted interaction within a mini series of clips.
This gameplay made me shed tears, reminded me how many people die during the war but we have yet to learn.

Graphics & animations are much more developed nowadays but the new challenge is to make the AI look alive and not just waiting for players to shoot.
yes good lord I wish someone would make a beleivable AI, Thats one area I am going to work on later when I get around to it. For now audio and animation have me tied up, but I imagine its easier than AI

All the artifects are pretty standard COD (eg: weapons snapping, tracers through walls, hands clipping on objects).
