Alexia basically said she needs to be smart about the ways of the world instead of just swinging her sword blindly which kinda ticked Iris off a bit since that's all Iris has; her swordsmanship. Alexia is properly going the right way in becoming strong in both physically and mentally that even Cid acknowledge her effort in previous episode.

I've mentioned this on another video, but one thing I connected recently is that eye color is often symbolic of personality in Anime, as the eyes are seen as "windows into the soul". Red is the color of warriors; the color of blood and aggression. Iris's hair, which can be taken to represent appearances and vanity, is Red, but her eyes are Green which can symbolize an unskilled person (you're too green, come back in 100 years and maybe you'll stand a chance) as well as a color representing Envy (Green with Envy). By contrast, Alexia's eyes are Red; she's a true warrior in spirit on the inside, but hidden by the appearance of being "blank" or "plain", symbolized by her white hair.

Alpha mastered it to a degree that she could face off with Cid and our man here instantly recognised the pro and cons (pros- flight,invulnerability,cons- lack of mass,predictable attacks patterns since it requires the user to solidify in order to attack)
Alpha is a G.... also bare in mind Cid wasn't being serious with her, but yes, she is second to none besides Cid and Delta (if she used her intellect) in terms of combat capabilities

Alpha turns blue as she turns herself into mist, the novel actually mentioned Cid almost killed Alpha there, as she was in mistform and Cid created a strong wind that would blow the mist away. If Alpha didn't change back to normal form fast enough, she would've disappeared like mist and died. But it's not mentioned in the anime
Dont forget that, when cid goes into roleplay, hes full commited and wont break caracter easily. That's why he's so rough with Alpha but not with Delta as she "broke the roleplay"
If you think about it, you will find out that this story is filled with messed up tragedies. What happened to Sherry, for example, and what happened to Rose. Also, do not forget about the untold tragedies of the possesed and the cult's victims like Millia the monster from ep4,5 s1. If John Smith was a seperate person and couldnt use any of Shadows' techniques other than the threads (so no driving out his hand to create wind strong enough to fling Alpha off the train) then yeah
I mean... it's a bit of an unfair matchup. Mist-form is an incredible counter to a niche fighting style which relies entirely on restricting the movement of objects/attacks through area denial in the form of many fast moving and strong threads. If your opponent can turn mist form and be impossible to hit physically its almost hard countered. You'd also be assuming that a "real" John Smith who can fight at that level would have no other magic or any physical ability, which is highly improbable. Don't get me wrong, I agree she would win, and because of the match up would win without having much risk. But it wouldn't be a GG and done moment.
I love how Stylish Bandit slayer just comes in screaming at Gettan lol. And this episode made me feel for Alpha. It's funny though when she came at him, he says "well, that makes sense" that Alpha is a lot stronger than Delta and can see through his attacks. Respect given. But Cid's vague responses are just so he can complete his and Yukime's plan without them getting involved. I really hope that Alpha comes back around quickly because the group thinking Delta is dead should be something they know he wouldn't do but the raw emotion most likely overrides complete logic. Also there was a VERY end after-credits scene of the tower that Delta was told to go to hunt Juggernaut and everything was on fire lol. So he basically got off screened.

I think the reason that Alpha didn't want to have anyone else come with her to face John Smith is that from her POV, he was strong enough to beat 3 of hsubordinatesates, so she sent Delta, only to find out that she "lost her life" with that bit of her hair found at the wreck, which meant anyone else below Delta in terms of Power would be helpless against him and might become more casualties. and Delta is practically the 3rd Strongest in terms of combat power in Shadow Garden behind only Shadow and Alpha.
This is personally the only fight where i liked the manga more it truely felt like alpha was powerful and that shadow acknowledge her. In this scene it looked like she was weaker than even beatrix which is kinda sad tbh

@@NightWalker989 WN is raw. LN is the real source material. That is true for almost all series. Not just TEIS. Stop meatriding WN. Author had to change many scenes from WN because it got negative feedback such as this arc in WN.
That is why LN exists.
WN has prison arc. But you won't see that arc in anime because anime adpat from source material LN. Not WN. But anime add minor scenes from WN. Not important ones. But thats only because anime director also read WN and likes some scenes from WN. But even anime is different from source LN in some scenes.
