Hey from wintery Nova Scotia Canada! I am an ol' retired gent who has travelled with my family in tow over much of the USA. Oddly enough, I have been through Mt. Vernon twice as we crossed the country on 90 heading to the West coast. We visited the Corn Palace and of course when we got there, Wall Drug! Having found your V-log I have been binge-watching over the past few days with great interest. I just finished your first "live" video and enjoyed both the banter and the greater context of what makes you a great family farm! Blessings (Ol' pastor) and keep up the good work. Wish I had known you back in the times of our travels... "88" and then again in "90" I would have tooted on the way by! Love those black Angus cattle!
I showed my 93 year old grandpa “who is still farming by the way” the conveyor and he didn’t say anything for a little bit, which means he is impressed, and then he saw the Deere pulling the big auger and he said that looks “more better”! Keep it up guys, I like showing my grandpa the new ways and the traditional things you two do on the farm.
Something we've done often when unloading bins is to fill the grain cart behind a tractor while the truck(s) are gone so when they get back the cart can fill them quick and send them out.
I worked at the Grover Hill, Ohio grain elevator for the 1979 season. We had to empty a few grain bins that had not been emptied for a few years. One was a bean bin. We had to SHOVEL the last 6 semi loads that came out of that bin. It had the single hole in the center of the bin and no sweep. Since it was a bean bin it was very very dusty work. I am glad there were 3 of us to do that over several days.
Thanks to Brandt and you Cole for showing the operating that auger. Working well for your operation. Cole - instead of a beach ball you should try an exercise ball. I do not know if they work in - 30 degree Celcius temps.🍁👍😎
Like that blue auger. Slick. A must have. It looks really cold out but Brian and Cole keep smiling. Maybe the smiles are frozen in place. Always love seeing and hearing Jeff. Stay warm gentlemen and Mom I hope you enjoy your new table. God bless.
Cole, you don’t give your videos enough credit! They are all interesting. And Brian’s innuendo skills are the best. Got this old lady laughing all the time.
Awesome new machine! 8 days to calving! Glad your knee I feeling better. I look forward to the next 8 days with excitement. Keep on keeping on and God Bless ❤️!
Great Video, Cole! I'm not sure why but out of all of the TH-cam Farming Bloggers, Y'all are the best! Not the first I've seen but definitely The Best! From Wrenching and Welding to Working and Weening, Y'all have got it all! Oh... And I'm Pretty Sure Those Feedlot Cows Would Have A Ball!!!.........pun intended! Lol
It's getting pretty exciting there. Wish you had better weather for calving but you handle what you are dealt. That's just how it goes. Awesome with the corn project.......pretty awesome they let you guys try out the equipment as it gives you some help and a heck of an advertisement for the new items on the market. Spring will be here soon and I can't wait. Need some sunshine and warmth in our neck of the woods........been a long year and then some. God bless keep up the great videos and the hard work.......that's what it's all about. Gotta love what you do! Awesome channel!
I could not find any beach balls that looked safe for the cows, but i did find out that cows love to play with cardboard boxes. " If you would like to provide some toys for a cow in your care, cardboard boxes have been shown to be a cheap option for some entertainment. They will investigate the box, paw at it, and eventually crush it." Thought that might be an idea. Keep up the great video's. Keep safe and warm. We had snow today in UK.
Saw this on Facebook today and thought of you guys. BREAKING NEWS : There will be NO farms closed due to extreme cold. Farmers will be out in the cold and blowing wind tending their livestock. They will be praying for machinery to start, fences to stay put and the axe doesn’t break when opening up water tanks. If you know a FARMER tell them thanks. Thank you Sonne Farm!
You a carnie by chance? I always thought that looked like a fun job. Give the ole merry-go-round the onion, and scare some fair-goers real nice. Anyway, here's to a good circuit! Keep an eye out for any stray nuts and bolts under the Gravitron, and don't take any wooden nickels. 👍
That is one nice auger. I'd buy that in a heartbeat. That is so much easier than having to man handle it around with 3 people. That beach ball idea would be funny.
You said 8 more days til calving and I cringed. I HOPE the current weather we ranchers are dealing with in Montana doesnt head your way. Its BRUTAL. We have a couple inches an hour of snow plus winds and drifting. We had the tranny go out on the plow truck so had to borrow a neighbors so we could plow through 25" plus of snow so cattle could get through to the water and the sheds. And now? nearly 40 below zero wind chills are hammering us. I guess that just ranch life right? But dang, calving in this? Im really glad most of our cattle arent due until April up here. You guys stay safe and warm. Wishing you all the very best for your upcoming calving season!!
awsome video cole i forgot to say in the last video what a handy auger to have kida neat that it has alittle motor on it and you can kida drive it around makes things so much easier dont really need to use the tracter unless you are takeing it on the road fuel injected thats even better and it has a stater but your like thats awsome no pulling needed lol thumbs up and shared
That was quite a ninja kick from that ole girl. Lol. She pegged her buddy in the foreheed, with her left hind, standing head to head. I believe after 37 some odd years of looking at cattle, that's the first time I've seen that. Lol. TH-cam gold! Athletes. You guys are raising some athletic girls!
In addition to this great idea. if there is a grain chute on the tail board on the Soil hauling truck, fit some big greedy boards all round and fill it up as well so that it can be tipped into the Brandt conveyor carefully to speed up loading time.
That frost is called “hoar frost”. I remember back in the late 80s when we had a particularly bad stretch of really cold bad weather there was a rancher north of Belle Fourche who lost a lot of cattle to hoar frost. When I was working the missile field in between Newell and Faith we would have a real hard time finding some of the sites because the hoar frost would get so thick on the chain link fences that the site would blend into the snowy fields around it.
Love watching your videos! Wish we would have had this auger growing up versus the chain elevator. Of course our grain bin only held 1,000 bushel so fill with new auger would have been pretty fast.
Lice and flies can be a problem. Farmer said I should hang Hessian sack cloth soaked in diesel for my cows. You pay good money for that, with a fancy insecticide dispenser. Surprised the lice aren't killed by the cold. Good video👍.
Frost on the fence looks like hairy fence, how exciting new babies. Cole you cut off their head scratcher, or eyes poker. Brian doesn't act like he's feeling well. Take care of yourself dad Sonne.
I think you need to keep that auger. It’s great!! You should get a good deal on it since it’s “used”. Lol. Love Brian teaching the youngen about what good wood is!!😂😂
That's really a sweet looking auger that Brandt set you guys up with. Sure beats the old days when you had to have at least two guys muscling a big auger like that around to get it set up!
Awesome video that woud make one hell of a parade float ..man that thing is Nice's drives itself to the truck .. I watched a couple of your old videos from 2019 I would have to say you and your dad are a lot more chipper know and funnier and the videos in last 6 months way more awesome .. In joyed this one hooking up old equipment to old was a good comparison .. Keep doing what you guys do and good luck calving in a few days .
Awesome video Cole that is nice special when you don’t have to have a tractor to move it or run it that saves a lot of time tell all your family I said hi and asked about them looking forward to the next video the weather people say it’s going to really cold here at the end of the week coming up and that weekend tell your family I said hi and asked about them looking forward to the next video Cole stay cool 😎 Cole 🤙😎
I think it would be a good idea if Brandt manufactured a bracket to hold the tongue on the auger. This auger would be a good purchase in my opinion.Calving season is exciting and I am looking forward to seeing the videos!
Excellent video as always. Looking forward to watching calving. Our rancher here in Utah had 900 cows getting ready for calves in the next couple of weeks.
Makes me remember something that happened with our bassett... son decided to wave the vac at her. Literally scared the poop put of her. Poor girl. I made him clean up the mess ... she looked so ashamed and pathetic. So did he. 😏

Hey Cole and Brian. Love your channel. Best farming youtuber out there imho...
Wow, thanks!
I’m sore at night when I go to bed after watching you guys working in that cold weather. Dam
Thank you for showing that there is more to farming than just plowing, planting, and harvesting. Your father deserves a shout out. GREAT JOB!
So nice of you
That frost looks so cool! Like ice growing hair.
I love that kind of frost. KODAK Moments. Love taking pictures of it. Definatly better than sitting in the office. Wouldn't trade it for the world.
I don’t mis any of your videos they are the best Sonne Farm thank you
That’s a sweet sounding engine on the conveyor. Another great video by the Sonne’s
Nice slice-of-life on the farm vid. Thank you. I enjoy your videos very much 😊

I love the “as you go” problem solving. And the fun watching all the chores.
Man, I miss farm life. You are very blessed.

Great show today ! It's a lot easier to watch people in the cold than the be out in it.
I had to pause the video so I could see your wood. Your dad sure was proud of it. You know what they say though... "It's the little things."
Great Video, Cole! I'm not sure why but out of all of the TH-cam Farming Bloggers, Y'all are the best! Not the first I've seen but definitely The Best! From Wrenching and Welding to Working and Weening, Y'all have got it all!

Corn prices looking pretty good !! Good video Cole and Brian and Jeff
Daniel from central Mississippi
That grain belt is sweet!! Worked like a charm! 👍🏼
We have the same issue at our rice dryer on one leg. Oldest and slowest one on the farm. Stay warm
When there is a shortage of trucks we fill up the grain cart while the truck is gone then fill the truck with both to speed up the process.
In addition to this great idea. if there is a grain chute on the tail board on the Soil hauling truck, fit some big greedy boards all round and fill it up as well so that it can be tipped into the Brandt conveyor carefully to speed up loading time.
That’s smart!
I remember the auger of 50 years ago , this auger wonderful and user friendly !!!

@Turner ReMine My neighbor grows candy corn. So there. ;)

That belt conveyor is awesome wish I would of had one when I was farming!
That's one hell of a piece kit that auger!! Surely that's a "must have" implement ? the 2 farms could go halfers on it !?
As soon as I seen the notification I was like heck ya better then tv lol
