Why is it so fun to watch someone mow? I had no idea (until 72 hours ago) that anyone would make a mowing video or how much I would really enjoy them. So calming and awesome to watch the straight lines appear amongst all that chaos. These are my new pre-bed 'go to videos' to slow my mind and make it ready for sleep. Thanks LCJ

You know, one thing I have noticed is the large numbers of subscribers and views of these video's and similar, like " Al Blades " and so on get compared to clips on the politics of the day with all of the shenanigans going on. Similarly with other subjects like global warming / climate change etc. Odd to me, and interesting.

@@LawnCareJuggernaut Guys just give me a rough figure of what u charge on jobs like this. Unbelievable that the grass is allowed to grow that tall. I have never seen anything like that in my neighborhood. My hedge would grow an inch or 2 higher than normal and because I work long hrs.' sometimes I forget to cut it. Having done this type of work in the mid 50s with much more manual equipment and moving up to construction when I was in college and graduate school, I was quite interested in your ongoing commentary! Thank for offering a lot of the knowledge based upon personal experience. I spent four years with USMC and then quickly bought a practice. I knew “zero” about points of business and all the regulations
about employees........it was a costly education
My personal take away is the honesty of your message about the very demanding hours required when you are the man who signs the front of the check. A dunce can sign the back but all responsibility falls on the shoulders of the owner. Your attention to detail is mandatory jc you want to be successful. I wish you a superb future.

Your a man after my own hart I mowed to supplement my income and like yourself I couldn’t leave a yard I didn’t think looked presentable. Had one elderly lady who would hire me just for holidays because I made the yard look so much better than she could. I think it worked out to 10.00$ an hour that was in the mid 80s enjoyed the video

I’m the same way about cleaning up crazy, overgrown/neglected messes. But my specialty and what I love to do, is cleaning up overgrown and neglected areas outside the yard. Like trees and bushes, removing small volunteer trees such as Mulberry and the like, in the wooded areas on properties.
I also like maintaining controlled chaos in those types of areas. However, there’s something about going onto a property that is an ugly mess, cleaning and restoring it back to an original state and the customer’s reaction. It’s a really good feeling.

Good point about the oil and belts. Too many people get wrapped up in names thinking that the oil that is sold by kaw, kohler, stihl is made by the aforementioned. These products are branded with the sellers name . Belts the same way go to a bearing supplier and buy an industrial belt at a portion of the dealers cost. Many oil filters are made by Wix and rebranded. Good info!

Hey man, I'm a retired landscaper from NY . One of the first walk behinds I used when I first started was an old belt driven Bobcat with suicide thumb switches. Horrible machines. Not only will they run your ass over which becomes more and more possible the more the thumb latches wear out , but if the belts get even a bit wet your not going anywhere. I was really surprised to hear you talk about them . Made me chuckle. One of my favorite walk behinds was a Ferris 48 inch. I don't know the specifics, it was used when I got it. Nice machine though. Just subscribed. Stay safe.

I enjoyed your commentary on this video. Taking on this job and completing it as if it was your best client shows integrity. And I think that is what you wanted to convey to us in the video - integrity is doing your best even when no one is watching. James showed that in the extra edging. Might be overkill to some but you helped improve a neighborhood and you made surrounding families feel good about their street.

If you're going to cut tall overgrown stuff on a regular basis, you need a brush mower (bush hog). Will easily take that stuff down up to 2" thick. It also knocks the grass down in front differently to where it keeps the stalks more vertical for blade contact. Then go back over it with a finish mower.

I had a Murray that I have sent through absolute hell in a yard that started literally worse than this, and I wish I was exaggerating. Just over 17 acres of it no less. That Murray lasted some 20 years compared to every other mower we've had, and I had to hammer the deck back into shape after every fifth mowing. One time I had to replace a shattered blade quill, often I had to replace pulleys, bent mower blades were frequent and often reshaped into other tools via make-shift forge. We have had many changes during the some 20 years we have lived there, but the one constant was that mower and the hell we put it through. We even had a few other mowers including a Husqvarna. It only lasted two years and was put in the shop multiple times until it was just gone.
The Murray itself? It was sold with the property. To my understanding, the new owner still uses it 10 years later.
