    Incredible model. The builder did a fabulous job. The flying wasn't bad either :) I have 1/4 scale glow, gas and electric and in the summer prefer the glow as it is generally quieter than gas and if the ignition fails you only have to change the glow plug which doesn't happen all that often. The ignition failed on my DLE 30 and it took 8 months to get a replacement. I have the 1/4 scale Balsa USA Sopwith Pup that does not need the flying wires. It was a pretty straightforward and rugged build and flies beautifully with a bullet proof OS 160FX 2 stroke glow engine.

    Well that is just about as good as it gets! A fantastic model flown to perfection, not sure about the weather conditions though, the engine sounds really good, none of that high pitch scream which does not fit in with a beautiful model like this. I look forward to watching more of your videos, many thanks for posting! Chris B.

    What a fantastic scale pup. I love the sound of that engine. You are so right about rigging biplanes, the easier the better. I have almost finished a 1/4 scale EAA Bipe from Balsa USA which isn’t too bad, but anything to make it easier.

    Really enjoyed this Stuart! The timing is quite a coincidence...the next episode on our channel releases Monday morning...and it is a Balsa USA 1/4 Sopwith Pup with a Saito radial. Hi Adam, good to hear from you again and thank you. I’ll check out your video, I’m really interested to see how they compare for rigging time etc. I think both are good scale models. Not super scale like Mick Reeves kits but good enough for the majority (myself included) but can be made super scale if desired. And with that Saito, that’s going to be one sweet sounding bird. That’s the one thing that’s missing on mind, a better sound, Laser are great but their song is not as sweet as say Saito or OS.

      @stuartwarnerc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. I I think it works wonderfully well, it takes me less than ten mins to fully rig and is rock solid when it’s done. My only concern would be how long the racket systems last for. Replacing those would be a pain. What issues have others reported?

      forums.modelflying.co.uk/index.php?/topic/30965-db-14-scale-sopwith-pup/&tab=comments#comment-519221
      Note, the David posting in these comments is not me, just a coincidence. I am about to order one from DB Sport anyway but am interested in any feedback from anyone like yourself that has actually owned one for a time and may have some comments to make on the wing retention and rigging of this model. I see you have a Laser 180 in yours which I will also use, and in fact is recommended for this type of model by Jon at Laser engines in this thread:
      forums.modelflying.co.uk/index.php?/topic/50182-static-thrust-to-weight/&tab=comments#comment-918087
      DB suggest 90 - 120 4 stroke which does seem a little on the small side given the size and weight of the model, about 15lb; appreciate its not intended to perform like a Pitts but from my own experience I have a 6' span 9lb Mew Gull with an ASP 120 in it which performs well enough (th-cam.com/video/YrzJ-XgJpWs/w-d-xo.html) but the Pup is another 6lb heavier, so a 180 it will be.

      It had a Laser 180 4 stroke, sadly the model crashed this winter and due to the damage it will be re-built as electric powered.

      @@stuartwarnerc right on! If you run two 6S packs in parallel. You could swing a 24x8 scale prop. I tried with 5S but it was only 700 watts. Looks so nice with a big prop.

    Great looking and flying model! Unfortunately, I will be unsubscribing from your channel. This is due your consistent use of incorrect terminology. A Wing Over is a turn where the top wing goes past vertical center. You did not do a wing over. You continue to say "Stall Turn" when it is a hammer-head turn. Your "term" is not valid or correct for the aviation community. I will soon be a 71 year old pilot of real airplanes. Again, love your models but ...... I'll be watching other R/C channels. Sorry......

      Hello, thanks for the feedback. I will say that I have never claimed to be an expert in terminology, in fact in this very video you’ll see that I correct myself in camera about that very same example you give, the hammer head. Take a look later on in the video I discuss with my cameraman that what I had been doing was indeed a hammerhead, so then correct it by flying actual stall turns. I’ve been flying for almost 25years, and it’s a constant learning process and I’m comfortable to share that and maybe others learn from that too.

    Thanks for that Stuart, a really enjoyable video. You certainly had a bargain there!
    It looks great on the ground but amazing in the air, due to your impressive flying skills. You always make it look so easy.
