So many cultures view menstruation as something unclean, unholy. But without it there would be no humans. So it should be celebrated as a miracle from which all life is created.
Its literally cleaning out the body and making birth of new life possible. Ironic how its "unclean" blood is a symbol of death to many, But i think it is symbol of life. It keeps us alive.

@@iforget3209 That's completely wrong. Human females can't produce children without also having periods, that's literally how our reproductive organs function. native americans celebrate when a girl gets her period, it’s a miracle of life and the girl has to dress traditionally and can only eat berries/fruits during her first period and can not touch meat she gets blessed with a song and a ring of elders chanting for her while getting fed blueberries although now it’s less celebrated I remember my grandma came over on my first period and gave me a whole cake and she was happy that I was “becoming a woman” 😂
If I ever have a daughter I'm going to give her a small celebration just for her and myself. It may be an painful experience but I want it to be a celebrated experience not a terrifying one.
I'm sorry but that little girl looks completely depressed? Like her innocence and childhood is ripped away. Edit-2 years from my first comment- I have learned a lot about this culture now. Much of it through all your comments and I can't thank you guys enough! Knowledge is power!
Although it seems that way, a kumari must not talk, interact or even smile at people when she is in public. It is, for a lack of better words, a rule that the kumari has to strictly abide by. However, she lives a normal life when she's away from the public in the kumari house. As normal as life can get for a living goddess, that is.
Kumari can have a outside life. She just has to remain serious and not smile when she is sitting on her throne or in rituals because she needs to show she's being possessed by the goddess and it's a culture of Nepal. It's unique and very interesting. She can have friends and talk to other people when she's not on her throne or when she isnot a kumari. It's a overwhelming experience for the little girls but the girls can meet her parents and the parents can take care of her in the palace. Her feet can't touch the ground because it's believed that if Kumari's feet touch the ground the world will end. Kumari can't smile because it is believed that the person she smiled at will die.
Not to disrespect anyone but she's a child she should be able to run around and play smile laugh why should she be expected to do any less than any other child
@@marshy_marsh1 …child labour is not child abuse? If you can’t see depression in her eyes, then you’re part of the problem. No one has the right to subject children to this type of thing. No one has the right to steal this child’s childhood. Makes me sick!

I don't think he meant in a bad/creepy/pervert way, it's not a justification but it just meant that, since a goddess is all powerful and beautiful, so should be the person who's representing it, the age and the gender is not the key here. If it was a boy to represent a God, the old guy would have said the same, doesn't mean he is a pervert or something.

This is me mainly speculating but maybe its becuase we are flushing out the body and ridding ourselves of the excess eggs? The fact it causes the pain in the first place is a cruel thing possibly? They might not wish for their goddess to suffer through that pain as she would have no need for it Some cultures see that the age for them to menstruate as the time for them to wed, have children possibly die because of it in the end though,we have no reason to judge I guess? Yeah sucks that cause they aren't allowed to talk with others nor play like a normal kid.
They do play, but with their relatives.
It is kind-of sad tho to only play with family and not with others
Although it seems that way, a kumari must not talk, interact or even smile at people when she is in public. It is, for a lack of better words, a rule that the kumari has to strictly abide by. However, she lives a normal life when she's away from the public in the kumari house. As normal as life can get for a living goddess, that is.
@@levihackermann4324 If living a "normal" life requires having to act like this, even for an hour a day, then her life is far from normal
Ali Marie one of the scene shows the Kumasi rolling her eyes
So do u believe that ?
Since they're children what if she accidentally smiles at someone??

The fact it causes the pain in the first place is a cruel thing possibly? They might not wish for their goddess to suffer through that pain as she would have no need for it

Tantric techniques can be used to concentrate energy into anything.
Basically.. Water vapour is everywhere.. But we cannot drink it.. We still need to concentrate water in something like a cup to quench our thirst.
Similarly energy is concentrated for different reasons.
The phenomenon is called Consecration.
Humans too can be consecrated but generally solidified Mercury is chosen.
Humans are the easiest to consecrate but humans have their own will.. So they might move around a lot, do certain things which will un-consecrate them and so the time gets wasted. 😔
It is recommended to go near consecrated things in the morning so that the person has high energy for the rest of the day.
Not necessary to go. If you feel benefit, go again. If you don't fell any benefit, don't go again.
Its not necessary to Make sure her feet doesn't touch the ground, but maybe people are doing it our of respect as to not make her feet become "dirty" just out of their gratitude..
And many other things are done just out of gratitude because their life are benefitted. Eg. Not calling her by her name, bowing down, etc..
All these are not necessary, people do out of gratefulness.
But again this can have negative effects on the child. The child should not be sacrificed for someone else's (the normal people) benefit. If its her choice, then that's fine.. But 4 or 6 year olds don't know much about the world to make choices..
That's why this practise was stopped by Hindus in India after debates.
_______________
Also Kumari is not a Goddess.
Just a consecrated girl.
She is respected by people because of people's gratitude.
__________
Periods are not treated as impure in the Buddhism/Hinduism..
Its celebrated. Go to any "Devi temple" and there it is celebrated..
But when the first period is there, then, Kumaris are dismissed cuz now the woman is capable of reproduction.
So she should be allowed to.. For that she might have to look for ¿mate?.. And that can't be done sitting still and not speaking.
Its NOT be because she somehow becomes "impure'.
Because then why in every other temple, except Nepal 🇳🇵, periods are celebrated?
But if she chooses celibacy, she should theoretically/logically not be dismissed.
Clearly people around are ignorant. They are doing it because its a tradition.
They don't know why..
Maybe cuz of invasion after invasion of Islamic invaders, Christian Crusades.. The knowledge has got lost among the community in Nepal 🇳🇵.
And the superstitions like "whoever marries ex-Kumari dies withing 6 months" prevail due to same reason..

As a young Nepali girl, I don't know whether to be proud of this certain tradition of ours or ashamed. 😔😕
Well the Newars are proud. We other ethnicities really have no say as long as the law approves of it.
You are ignorant Hindu that's all..
And the people are following practices, but they don't know why they are following..
Kumari isn't supposed to move around.. Why?
If you know, you wouldn't be ashamed..
Listen to Sadhguru. You'll be benefitted.
Know why.. Everything is the video, i know why.. So I'm not ashamed Hindu.
I'm from India btw..

The girl is not supposed to be "worshipped".
🙏 🌸 ♥

I guess, at this point, it's become more cultural than divine? I would think the older kumari not getting her period would've been the "divine miracle", a deviance from mortal norm. Eternal Kumari.
