Can we agree it's by design? The easiest way to balance out a faction that gets flipping dragons for endgame is to make the rest of its lineup sliightly weaker.
Wrong. Stormguard are good. Probably the best swarmer unit of all factions. Protectors kinda suck in the early game, but late game they're the tankiest stack in the game. Burrowers also suck early, but they have possibly the strongest active ability in the game, once you can field a stack of them enemy ranged units can't do much more than cry. And you're INSANE if you think Chelun and Riders are bad. Those are genuinely OP. Riders are crazy cost effective and because they're Rana + Beast they get buffed by the entire tech tree keeping them strong throughout the whole game, they also have really good essence generation and hit hard due to charge. Chelun are quite possibly the best essence generators in the game, being both Tanky and having the damage to properly defend themselves. There's a reason why Rana and Barya are considered the best factions in competitive multiplayer.
@@karelzabijak321I wouldn’t say that. Eth’Dra aren’t particularly flashy, but they’re very solid. One of my favorite starters is Sla-kin + other Eth’Dra Weilder (or visa versa) to have 3 right off the bat. And usually the Eth’Dra stay useful through the entire game, even if I make the jump to dragons, the initial 10 stack usually sticks to the very end. One thing to note about Eth’Dra is that although they aren’t quite cost efficient as archers or as strong as Fey Nobles, they are MUCH more durable than archers and they don’t cost any special resources to train like other large building units. Plus they have much higher initiative to act before other range units. I’d personally consider them like a tier 1.5 unit like tremors are. Not super strong, but not super weak either and can be useful throughout the whole game. Plus, with their upgrade, they are one of the better Arcana generators Rana have, which I think is pretty important because dimensional door is fantastic with Dragons, RoTS, Crawlers and Tremors. Teleporting one of those bad boys on top of enemy city walls next to their ranged units is my favorite play!
I love the transformation of Eth'dra to dragons, just instantly terrifying and intimidating as a dragon should be.
The funny thing is, sometimes, you want to keep Eth'dras because they're ranged attackers.
