“After transforming into a Dodge Ram SRT-10, I have ascended to a higher plane of existence. However, I now must become a Nissan GT-R and give up godhood.” -Convoy
Goodness yeah I remember Vangelus reviewing the Starscream mold. I honestly quite enjoyed the Alternity figures as a car enthusiast myself, with more movie-line esque transformations.
Because you mentioned it: Transformers GT takes place in a universe where the Autobots and Decepticons peacefully laid down their arms during the war, and now new "conflicts" are done via the titular yearly Transformers GT tournament, where participants compete in explicitly non-lethal races and the prize is a trophy full of energon that's been accumulating over the season.
Another thing about Alternity is that each colorway of each mold that wasn't a specifically named other character was a different version of the base character the mold was used for. For example, Megatron Diamond Black is specifically the Megatron that appeared in the Famicom game Mystery of Convoy. There's even a short story that re-contextualizes the events of the game into being a competition between Alternity Convoy and Megatron, using the mortal inhabitants of that continuity as pawns.
As a casual Gran Turismo player, I can say with certainty that all of these crazy color names are actually the real names as used by the car brands. Also, I own the blue version of the Megatron mold. The transformation is a mess and the legs are super wonky and barely stay together in robot-mode and that's not even mentioning the abundance of load-bearing clear plastic all over this guy. Not Plastic Addict-bad, but you're still not missing much if you don't have one.
I hope you consider doing a follow up reading the bios and tech spec of each character. They're the crazy ramblings of an out of control D&D player. I remember Star Scream's Null Ray can travel through time. So as long as his target occupied or will occupy a specific area in space throughout time, he can just fire and it will hit during that time specific time. Or one of the other seekers had a weapon that fires infinite density compression bullets. He can fire basically any kind of ammo from the tiniest to the largest to the lightest to the heaviest. When I read that, I imagined him getting frustrated at his enemy dodging his attacks to he fires a planet sized bullet it his enemy. CRAZY STUFF.
I look forward to when you cover the fiction of GT, where the Autobots need to find the black star Cyber Planet keys to restore Orion Pax back to Optimus Prime and the main villain's a mutant Quintesson called Baby.
I'm thinking the Optimus and Megatron sharing a mold video is going to surprise me cause I can't actually think of enough times where that's happened to make an entire video out of it... But one time it happened in fiction where Beast Machines Megatron recreated the Optimal Optimus body for himself I'm still annoyed there's no official toy of that.
Still hard to beat the insanity that is Binaltech Ravage (Binaltech body, excavated spark of Beast Wars Ravage, G1 Ravage modelocked and shoved in via tapedeck to 'make it all work')
As a car guy, I would be poking nissan about these color choices over binaltech. I'm sure nissan made sure that takara made the gtr as accurate as possible considering its their crown jewel of their vehicle lineup. This is coming from a guy who owns a dodge challenger that is "frostbite" which is considered a color of blue.
I had the Skywarp as well. I loved it, but transforming it was a nightmare. As far as I know, it’s the only licensed toy of the Orochi to exist (could be wrong on that). I remember people being kind of offended at Starscream’s weird four eyes head and Takara quickly making sure the other two Questors (the Alternity term for Seekers) had normal heads.
7:15 that's a common problems in fiction, especially japanese fiction. I think The Zone cartoon was canned after a few episodes because the protagonist killed all The strongest Decepticons who came before in The first episode and it went downhill after that.
The only one I have is Bumble(bee) because my dad saw it on my Amazon list at Christmastime and that's what he chose. I actually like it despite some of the flaws. There are things I like about it, especially in vehicle mode. Plus Alternity Bumble has guns that freeze you in time and basically turns reality into a 3D editor by controlling the X/Y/Z axis of his enemies and himself. He can stretch or squash Decepticons while standing sideways on reality.
In regards to Binaltech and Alternity, isn't KP (which connects G1 to CR/ Rid01 and parts of the UT) and Teletran 15 Go Go part of that complex series ?
Didn’t hear from SEGA’s lawyers regarding “Sonic Blue” no, but considering how many times the Nissan mold was used I’m surprised Ken Penders did sue Hasbro for blatant copying
I like it when they make Optimus Prime something else other than a trailer truck. It's actually kinda interesting when he is something like a fire truck or a red car.
When you look at the toy line at face value and task yourself with coming up with a storyline, you begin imagining a really low radar discreet universe where the conflict between the autobots and deceptions is just a small conflict that takes place in like one city in Japan and it gets resolved within a month, which wouldn’t even be bad as a short story either and something they easily could have done.
I honestly enjoyed this line, my mom had a 350Z at the time so having a 370 was sweet, and the GTR was my dream car at the time and having one as a pretty nice transformer was fantastic. The silver GTR was one I lumped in with the movie deluxes at the time.
I believe the Black version of Convoy was actually Black Convoy (as in the Herald of Unicron) where he actually becomes a good guy and I think defender of the timelines with Alternity? I still have the figure, the only one from the line I got and I'll be keeping it. I feel they aged a bit better than Binaltech.
The color names are legit because no car company (especially Nissan) would agree to having their cars used and be named whatever random color. For instance, if Takara wouldve called the red GTR white pearl, Nissan would be the one who would take the hit for it, and no car company wants that.
12:51, considering Galvatron was a samurai designed by Prince, yeah. Fits him well. Too bad they didn't put horns on his crown to differentiate him from Megs. I'm also surprised they never made a Cyber Formula type anime with this thing. You think with racing animes being a thing, they would have hit that market and considering the cars they advertise in the live action movies when MB movies were in effect, they would jump on that train to make the TF market in Japan bigger? But alas...we at least got mangas where in TF GT, everybody got a girl avatars for themselves and yes, even Star Saber and Fort Max.
I happen to own the 'Premium LeMans Blue' Megatron, and I quite like it (although the tolerances are a bit weird in places). I'd have actually liked the seekers (as well as Banzaitron), they all look really cool, and the vehicle mode absolutely gives me Starscream vibes (can't have a vehicle mode like that and not be narcissistic). Would also make for a really cool Knock-Out, if we could get it re-painted in his typical colour scheme, but I imagine repainting it would be quite difficult!
I'd really love to see them attempt the Alternators concept of the vehicle mode actually having interiors, but with more classic vehicle modes, such as Optimus as a semi, doesn't have to be licensed vehicles, just think it'd be cool.
The alternity seekers were unique because they were the only transformers that had the top half of the car as wings, and they were also the only triple changers in the line
Automotive paint colors are mouothfuls. My car, for instance, is Midnight Metallic Imperial Blue or Metallic Midnight Imperial Blue. Very nice color, but what a mouthful.
I got the red Optimus one as a gift back in 2013. You practically need a degree in engineering to transform the dang thing. Once I managed to get it into bot mode that's where it has remained to this day.
I think the Bumblebee mold would’ve worked if the chest were the actual front of the car, instead of the front of the top view, which looks horrible. I have no clue how they thought that was a good idea.
The GTR versions are badass. I'm definitely going to be getting those Super GT models. I'm a huge fan these things are exquisitely detailed with their liveries.
At the time I remember seeing ads for it in my GI Joe VS Transformers comics or was it the idw beast wars? I thought the Dodge Ram Optimus looked pretty cool honestly.
I have the starsceam. It's a terrible toy. However the concept of transformers as unusual vehicles is really cool and I wish they'd revisit it. I'd love a car starscream that isn't engineered so terribly.
The best part of the alternity Optimus I got was the booklet showing all the sci-fi bullshit hyper tech built into his body. I can’t remember all the convoluted names and descriptions they had but his wrist cannons were time distortion guns or something that kill you in the past, present and future at the same time
Continuity note: the Alternity succeeded in defeating the Hytherion, but in doing so allowed unstable universes to continue existing which thus contributed to the destabilizing of the multiverse which was ultimately resolved by Nexus Prime creating the Shroud
@PurpleOwlAnimation Yeah I was really into that stuff to! I can live with Transformers going on without it, I’m not one of those types to accuse the franchise of having no ongoing storyline because the multiverse stuff isn’t actively happening, but I still enjoy all that! Your pitch for a post-shroud story sounds really interesting and could be really cool. I would love to see them bring back Ask Vector Prime one day, maybe on Twitter or some other more contemporary social media platform
I know the toy has a lot of issues, but I still love the Alternity Seeker (sorry, "Quester") design. It's a really cool looking robot mode. Also, I LOVE the Mitsuoka Orochi. It's such a cool looking car and no, I don't care that it has the V6 from a Toyota Camry.
I would love to get the Ultra Magnus and Galvatron figures for this series. Those GT figures look cool. I don’t think I like the robot mode designs for the seekers and bumblebee in this series.
I will say it until the day I die, the seekers should've been Nissan R390s, not the horrendous Mitsuoka Orochi, those cars are dogs in real life, plus they look hideous
“After transforming into a Dodge Ram SRT-10, I have ascended to a higher plane of existence. However, I now must become a Nissan GT-R and give up godhood.” -Convoy
I remember Vangelus trying to explain Alternity lore way back when, and it sounded like the ravings of a madman. The lore was weird, too.
I like his description: weaponized math.
Goodness yeah I remember Vangelus reviewing the Starscream mold. I honestly quite enjoyed the Alternity figures as a car enthusiast myself, with more movie-line esque transformations.
Because you mentioned it:

So it's kind of like the later "racing team" episodes of MASK.
Another thing about Alternity is that each colorway of each mold that wasn't a specifically named other character was a different version of the base character the mold was used for. For example, Megatron Diamond Black is specifically the Megatron that appeared in the Famicom game Mystery of Convoy. Carscream, Road Saber, and Cartrip Maximus

Galvanized purple and Throttle Gold are real?
@@Cdr2002 Fairly certain they are. Could be a cross-promotion thing, because I agree it is a bit too fitting.
@@primeoetgrunn interesting
@GH0STST4RSCR34M already confirmed for me but thanks I guess
Can't believe you didn't mention Alternity Starscream's gun that can shoot you in the past and the future
Did Starscream somehow get the power of Vector Prime? How is that possible.
I hope you consider doing a follow up reading the bios and tech spec of each character. They're the crazy ramblings of an out of control D&D player.

I believe the Alternity story occurs in the splinter timeline from the latter half of the Binaltech storyline of the G1 Cartoon.
I look forward to when you cover the fiction of GT, where the Autobots need to find the black star Cyber Planet keys to restore Orion Pax back to Optimus Prime and the main villain's a mutant Quintesson called Baby.
so basically the Alternity plot is pulling a Doctor Who but more convoluted.
I'm thinking the Optimus and Megatron sharing a mold video is going to surprise me cause I can't actually think of enough times where that's happened to make an entire video out of it... Never realized alternity Megatron did bayverse drift before he even existed, both colour schemes even!
The first auto generated English subtitle is:
“Foreign”
Loved this line. For me the bumblebee and cliffjumper were displayed with my Alternator/Binaltechs in a vain attempt to complete the Ark crew
For anyone curious, they still have some of these over at tfsource.
Next to Hyperion Unicron and the G2 Swarm looks like a teddy bear.
Yes. Aside from Throttle Gold, Sonic Blue, and Galvanised Purple, these are all real colors that the manufacturers supplied for the cars.
I had the Skywarp as well.
I loved it, but transforming it was a nightmare.
As far as I know, it’s the only licensed toy of the Orochi to exist (could be wrong on that).

Good time for this video. I should be picking up a Binaltech toy from a local comic shop sometime this month.
Didn’t hear from SEGA’s lawyers regarding “Sonic Blue” no, but considering how many times the Nissan mold was used I’m surprised Ken Penders did sue Hasbro for blatant copying
I mean, the stock of Saber GT's gun looks similar to the hilt of his Saber Blade...
No hate on bumblebee, this is very clearly a continuity in which he just haven't hit the gym since his G 1 toy
I like it when they make Optimus Prime something else other than a trailer truck. It's actually kinda interesting when he is something like a fire truck or a red car.

the Convoy mold, with a police paint scheme and new head would make a cool Prowl toy.
IIRC, the Black Convoy in Alternity actually was specifically a redeemed version of Universe Nemesis Prime.
TF Alternity was weird. Love your videos!

I can't lie, I've always wanted that GT Megatron.
I have the very rare and expensive Binaltech Autorooper from the Kiss Players line. Just managed to scoop it up new in sealed box on auction for $110.
You keeping it sealed?
@@Yesitsmyrealname Heck no! Toys were made to be played with 👍

All I know about alternity is that prime is now a Multiversal God
This actually looks pretty cool imo, I’d buy some if I wasn’t saving up for some more modern figures already
Alternity Bumblebee always gives me Super Go-Bots vibes. Except, you know, with an actual head instead of a windscreen, lol.
That Bumblebee mold is based on a car that was also licensed for Tobot
I happen to own the 'Premium LeMans Blue' Megatron, and I quite like it (although the tolerances are a bit weird in places). yo its brickbot sup
Every MP Hasui Era Car
I still crave for an Optimus, looks amazing and would be earth mode Orion in my head canon
I think the Bumblebee mold would’ve worked if the chest were the actual front of the car, instead of the front of the top view, which looks horrible. I have no clue how they thought that was a good idea.
So how would Blitzwing work in this universe? Would he just turn into two separate cars?
That Fortress Maximus looks like Buzz Lightyear
I need to pick up the Thundercracker one day for my character collection....
Wasn’t the Hyperion the thing vector prime feared the most in his Facebook page?
The GTR versions are badass. I'm definitely going to be getting those Super GT models. I'm a huge fan these things are exquisitely detailed with their liveries.
i saw optimus at a retail in a mall where i am i didnt get it i needed more money hope he is still there
Wow. I think I want to get some of these! That Banzaitron looks awesome!
Is it weird that this video has me shopping for Alternity figures?
At the time I remember seeing ads for it in my GI Joe VS Transformers comics or was it the idw beast wars? I thought the Dodge Ram Optimus looked pretty cool honestly.
Galvanized Purple is indeed a colour
Such a wasted opportunity to do the car bots. If they had done the Datsuns I don't think I'd ever replace them.
I have the starsceam. It's a terrible toy. However the concept of transformers as unusual vehicles is really cool and I wish they'd revisit it. I'd love a car starscream that isn't engineered so terribly.
I was away from Transformers from G2 to Prime Wars but worked retail and saw stuff come and go.. but I've never seen this Line.
That's because these were a Tomy-Takara line, exclusive to the Japan and Asia market. Although BBTS & TFSource did have them imported over here.
and now according to the dark amber leo prime manga…. Unicron is a good guy now
And don’t forget that all the alternity gtr figures included an anime girl figurine for some reason
everytime you correct the color, I keep thinking "coral blue #5"
The best part of the alternity Optimus I got was the booklet showing all the sci-fi bullshit hyper tech built into his body. I do like the look of the transformers gt cars a lot, It might actually get me into collecting transformers
The bumblebee mold gets a pass for me tbh its unique with extra trunk/back doors and the fun and simplistic transformation

no mention of the gtr race-queens......good
fin fact about the misuoka orochi.
the last ever version was coloured the evoke the evangelion robots
I will not have Alternity Bumble slander!!
The mitsuoka orochi is real.
Are we sure Hytherion (Sorry if I spelled it wrong) wasn't the actual thing that destroyed the universe of The Beast Within?
I would love to get the Ultra Magnus and Galvatron figures for this series. Those GT figures look cool. I don’t think I like the robot mode designs for the seekers and bumblebee in this series.
I would be curious about the mold sharing among the Cybertronian Leaders.
Puedes hacer Alternity Optimus Prime vs ficcion
15:15 Who the hell is banzaitron?
350z megatron's mld will probably look good on drift
Very interesting video
No talk of the girls that came with the GT cars?
The beginning of the video story time gets a9.9 out of10. Only a 9.9 because no beer😛👍
Is this the same thing as transformers alternators, or not?
Think of it as a japan only spin off Line with the same design philosophy.
smaller scale, lots of diecast, a horrible mess to transform
Can we get a video about TransTech?
i think he already done one
Is the convey mold Worth it tho
You left out GT Dai Atlas.

Why does Japan always get the best Transformers lines while America is stuck with Michael Bay's trash dumpster?!
I vaguely remember when you were selling off your collection, guess you relapsed.
