    Fantastic video bro one of the best I've seen. I'm fishing in California at the San Luis reservoir and California aqueduct I live about 15 minutes from both at one time I believe we held a world record for freshwater striper Right now I'm really trying to build my skills I'm catching fish and I'm not having luck I need to build my cadence

    Do you think rubber eels would work on lakes?

    • @fishden365
      @fishden365  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, they may not always be the best choice but I do think they would work, especially where eels are present like Nockamixon for example.

    Do you use side scan to find bait? I’m near blue marsh. I’m going to look for bait this week. I haven’t used it too much yet but hoping I’ll see them on side scan.

    • @fishden365
      @fishden365  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes and others I just use my 2D sonar. Many times in the fall I find the stripers away but not far from the bait.

    Great video! You are the best fishing you tuber in my opinion.still waiting to experience that feeding frenzy at Blue Marsh.The fishing hasn’t been consistent for me except for that spring night bite.Learning more though,thanks

    You ever fish lake Arthur?? And got any tips for that area? Your videos have got me into strippers in a big way!!! I find myself buying more and more striper tackle to go chase the big ones, have had a little success but always something else to learn love your videos!!

    • @fishden365
      @fishden365  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have never fished lake Arthur. My understanding is that it has a good population of large hybrid stripers and I believe it has alewife. That will make the spring night bite a fun deal to fish.

    • @matthewclaypoole4164
      @matthewclaypoole4164 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it has alewife and that’s primarily when I myself fish for them is at night from May to like July with cordell redfins, bomber long As, and spooks sometimes with live bait if we are able to snag any alewifes we can keep kicking long enough to get a bite on! Lol

    • @matthewclaypoole4164
      @matthewclaypoole4164 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately I can’t find any Norman top Dollars or blue stripers anywhere to try them out but the redfins and rippling redfins I have started using thanks to your videos and I’ve vastly started to out fish my buddies with them over their bomber long As. Just seems so hit and miss sometimes with them though it’s hard to get consistent bites sometimes you can’t keep a bait in the water other nights you don’t get a bite

    • @fishden365
      @fishden365  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have found this to be true in the waters I fish as well. The best way to get a top dollar or blue striper is to periodically search on ebay. They do come up on there fairly often. Unfortunately, the price can be high but they do work very well.

    • @matthewclaypoole4164
      @matthewclaypoole4164 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok I will continue to hunt for them both!! Love your videos though thank you so much for all the information you have and are sharing with others it’s awesome!!

      Any luck at Redman or Pinchot? They put some in Marburg a while back but I'm not sure how big they are now. I have caught small ones while trolling for white perch.

    • @djpherensik4694
      @djpherensik4694 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @michael - now is the time to hit redman since the water is down 15ft . I’ve caught a 32 inch striper 3 weeks ago and another 31 inch last week. 1/4 oz under spin with 4.8 kitech . A few guys are targeting them on the top but i haven’t had any luck yet off the top

    Thanks from West Virginia. Trying to understand the stripers. Even though I'm bank fishing below the dam on the Ohio river, I think the activities relate.

    As a regular at Beltsville I've seen that happen twice.. You hear this slapping or clapping sound that echoes across the lake and they are blowing up. I only had an electric motor at the time so there was no chance of getting over there from where I was. But definitely cool to see.

    Great info Den. I wanted to ask you about Nockamixon if you don't mind. Are the stripers located more in certain sections of the lake? And do you just rely on surface activity and commotion, or also on finding bait schools on your depth finder? Thanks. Just starting to fish the lake, a little intimidating with all that water. I have a kayak but it does have a motor.

    • @fishden365
      @fishden365  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Chuck, Nockamixon is intimidating when it comes to stripers. At this time of year and right into the cold water period of winter, I focus on areas from the dam to about the Marina area. The stripers are very large here but they are smart too. Nockamixon has so much bait that a striper can feed just by yawning. Because there is so much bait the stripers can still be tough to find because there is so much more bait than stripers that you can have entire schools of bait but no stripers present. On top of this, often times the stripers are not among the bait but nearby somewhat adjacent to the bait. That being said, it is still the bait that drives the stripers behavior. With no surface activity, the best thing to do is actually look for stripers on your electronics after finding bait nearby. They return the largest signal on your electronics and will show up as large hooks or partial hooks on your finder. Hope this helps.

      @@fishden365 Very helpful, I've launched out of the Marina twice now and limited success with small bass so far. I want to try further north and work my way down as you suggested. I usually fish Marsh Creek which is very very easy by comparison, but they've sprayed the weeds there and it's been pea soup ever since. Thanks for the tips, you always provide great info with your sharing :)

    I have yet to see a freshwater blitz. I know in the surf it is magical. The fish are all lit up and would eat almost anything remotely close to the appearance of a baitfish. Your videos have a lot of imformation in them. It took me years to start to learn these species and you have much of it in one video. I'm not sure if I should go with TMI or great video.

    • @fishden365
      @fishden365  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think I would have done this video if there were not multiple fisheries for stripers in PA and Jersey.

    The saltwater striper fishing population is on such a decline i might just start fishing the nock for stripers.
