Jeremy was being considered for Zac Efron’s role and sang his songs also. He spent a lot of his own money to be there at the auditions and read throughs etc, but then Zac Efron was cast and he wasn’t even told until it became public knowledge I believe Amy Lovatt did a video about it (and other broadway scandals) as he told the story on his tour

Seeing this all for the first time. Honestly I have to say… if Hugh didn’t step in… maybe the show isn’t made. Maybe all those people lose that work. My family and I love this movie. I am happy it was produced. I am not going to linchpin it on Jermey. It’s the industry that did it. Not a fan boy of Hugh, but it was a moment in that room. Knowing what I know about this, and what happened with Jeremy, I find it incredibly gracious of him to recognize that Hugh wanted to sing and to step off and join the ensemble despite the fact that he’d really been hoping this song would be his chance to redeem himself after losing his voice on Rewrite the Stars. He even seems to be demonstrating a generally positive and professional attitude during the rest of the song. I won’t hold anything against Hugh necessarily, because it is his movie, but the fact that Jeremy’s contributions to the film went uncredited does bother me. At the very least they should’ve had his name in the credits under “special thanks to” or whatever. He recorded the demo songs and paid for his own plane ticket to fly in and help them out by singing both Barnum and Philip’s roles that day even while he was sick and he didn’t even get his name in the credits. That upsets me more than the casting thing because I feel like it’s just basic courtesy to say thank you to someone who helps out
I know, right? The thing that makes me mad the most was he was not even acknowledged in the credits. Hugh steps in despite his recent surgery and suddenly becomes the hero of this whole thing. Jeremy pats him on the back at the end and receives nothing back, unlike Keala who got hugged. Man, these people are playing it like PT Barnum, using people for their own gain. Then soon they'll probably turn off comments in this video like in the others. So now people won't even get to know the truth. I'm so mad.
Even though Barnum was Hughs role in the first place, and Jeremy was aiming for Phillip? They did him dirty on the casting, but you dont need to act like Hugh did anything wrong singing a part for his own character, especially considering it was the last song and the last chance to join in singing on this particular day, he probably didn't even realise what you get to see in hindsight, because he was in amongst all the emotion and hype. I can’t watch this without a bitter taste being left in my mouth. Jeremy was literally the only reason the movie was green lit. He bought his own ticket, sang all of Hugh’s songs (except this one) with very short notice, was very sick and his redemption moment was essentially taken away from him. He did everything he could for this movie and wasn’t even credited. He’s an amazing guy and he deserved so much better.

He was never an option for the role. It was obvious that if the movie was made the role was going to be casted by a more popular actor. And all the actors came to the reading as a favor to Paul and Pasek. At that juncture movie was not greenlit so there was no budget. They certainly didn't have the money to have some one like Caroline Bowman basically come read for Jenny (not really that big of a role).

Huge shoutout to Jeremy for being this supportive especially during the chorus while he was actually kind of disappointed that he didn’t get his moment. I’m very happy for Hugh that he got to sing his song and he did extremely well, but I just gotta appreciate Jeremy’s energy here. A total gem.
This was my favorite movie. It WAS. Until I found out that Jeremy could have gotten the part and DIDN’T while he SOULD HAVE!!! I feel so incredibly sorry for him. Like, Zac was good, but Jeremy would have been incredible.

But he was never able to sing it and redeem himself because Jackman went against medical advice and started singing instead.

Did anyone pick up the double meaning at about 2:40 when he points at the cast and sings the line “but when I stop and see you here, I remember who all this was for”? It seemed to me like Jackman may have been talking/thinking about his sacrifice in singing with 80 nasal stitches against medical advice because his star power was essential to getting the movie greenlighted. The way he points at the cast at that particular line just made me think “I’m singing now because this project is so important to the whole team”. Also, if he wasn’t planning to sing and sounded like that coming in cold, I’m even more jealous of his instrument then I ever was!!! And I agree that Jeremy showed some real class in being supportive of Jackman taking over unexpectedly. It almost feels like Jackman got caught up in the power and energy of the moment which shows not only the the dedication of these talented performers, but the passion they have for their craft as well. An amazing cast, soundtrack, story, team of choreographers, and crew. So incredibly well done!!! Just phenomenal!!!
Jeremy Jordan everyone. Appreciate the guy please! He sang Zac Efron‘s part and Hugh Jackman‘s part (Hugh’s last minute) while being incredibly sick himself, he bought his own plane ticket to NYC and back to LA because they didn‘t have the fundings for that. He sings "Rewrite the stars" and his voice gives out on the high notes because of his cold and so he said he wants for "From now on" to be this incredible redemption moment because he was crushed for not being 100 percent on the other song. And yet he stepped back when Hugh started singing and gave Hugh the moment he had hoped to be for himself. He was considered for the role of Philipp (Zac wasn‘t cast yet) and just before he leaves, he hears that Zac Efron got the part.
Yeahh... this entire moment seemed sooo uplifting, victorious and sentimental UNTIL I heard the other side of the story from Jeremy Jordan... You know... the guy who flew there on his own expense because he was notified last minute... The guy who sang all the songs Hugh was supposed to sing AND all of Philip's songs... The guy who auditioned for the role of Philip and was made to believe he got the part only to ovehear someone discussing how they casted Zac Efron for it... The guy who delivered this level of professionalism both in his singing and attitude... The guy who was sick for days before this and strained himself so hard to be able to deliver this performance that he basically destroyed his voice... Yeah... this moment does not seem so idillic anymore... :(

Jeremy was robbed, his voice is beautiful and obviously Hugh's moment was emotional and incredible but Jeremy paid for his own ticket from LA to NYC to be there and cover for him whilst he was sick and had no voice and fought through the entire presentation and finally got to his big moment, a song he could sing without reaching that point of extreme pain and Hugh starts singing. Jeremy Jordan deserved to be apart of this final project with all he did to help contribute to it getting the green light. After hearing Jeremy’s side of things I can’t watch this video with the same excitement I did before. It disgusts me how he was used and just thrown aside. He could have played the part of Phillip and killed it.
3:10 omg u can soo see the pain in Jeremy Jordan's eyes. He told this story in one of his performances. Right before this he had sung "Rewrite the Stars" because he was originally supposed to play Phillip. He'd had a sinus infection right before this session, and during "Rewrite the Stars" Jeremy's voice gave out on him. So when they got to "From Now On" Jeremy was ready to redeem himself but then Hugh started singing and totally and unintentionally ruined Jeremy's moment. Jeremy Jordan has earned my respect from the first time they posted the featurette series. Same goes for Natalie Weiss and all the other unnamed singers who ensured that this movie musical was green lit. The actors were great too but I'm sorry Zac Efron always seemed like more of a "famous personality" that was thrown into the pile of amazingly talented artists for the extra cash his fame would bring. A very sad reality in the industry but I do hope that they evolve and start giving credit where credit is due.

Seeing this all for the first time. Honestly I have to say… if Hugh didn’t step in… maybe the show isn’t made. Maybe all those people lose that work. My family and I love this movie. I am happy it was produced. I am not going to linchpin it on Jermey. It’s the industry that did it. Not a fan boy of Hugh, but it was a moment in that room. It’s the sale that was, because the VIP in that room, showed way he was the showman.

Knowing what I know about this, and what happened with Jeremy, I find it incredibly gracious of him to recognize that Hugh wanted to sing and to step off and join the ensemble despite the fact that he’d really been hoping this song would be his chance to redeem himself after losing his voice on Rewrite the Stars. He even seems to be demonstrating a generally positive and professional attitude during the rest of the song. I won’t hold anything against Hugh necessarily, because it is his movie, but the fact that Jeremy’s contributions to the film went uncredited does bother me. At the very least they should’ve had his name in the credits under “special thanks to” or whatever. He recorded the demo songs and paid for his own plane ticket to fly in and help them out by singing both Barnum and Philip’s roles that day even while he was sick and he didn’t even get his name in the credits. That upsets me more than the casting thing because I feel like it’s just basic courtesy to say thank you to someone who helps out
I know, right? The thing that makes me mad the most was he was not even acknowledged in the credits. Hugh steps in despite his recent surgery and suddenly becomes the hero of this whole thing. Jeremy pats him on the back at the end and receives nothing back, unlike Keala who got hugged. Man, these people are playing it like PT Barnum, using people for their own gain. Then soon they'll probably turn off comments in this video like in the others. So now people won't even get to know the truth. I'm so mad.

Even though Barnum was Hughs role in the first place, and Jeremy was aiming for Phillip? They did him dirty on the casting, but you dont need to act like Hugh did anything wrong singing a part for his own character, especially considering it was the last song and the last chance to join in singing on this particular day, he probably didn't even realise what you get to see in hindsight, because he was in amongst all the emotion and hype. Honestly, the casting directors should have noticed Jeremy's hard work and commitment and given him a better chance to try out, instead of slipping Phillip to a singer with a bigger following. @tannybananny2833
I can’t watch this without a bitter taste being left in my mouth. Jeremy was literally the only reason the movie was green lit. He bought his own ticket, sang all of Hugh’s songs (except this one) with very short notice, was very sick and his redemption moment was essentially taken away from him. He did everything he could for this movie and wasn’t even credited. He’s an amazing guy and he deserved so much better.

honestly Jeremy Jordan should have been in the movie. The fact that he was not makes me so sad I mean he recorded the demos and like omg. He was never an option for the role. It was obvious that if the movie was made the role was going to be casted by a more popular actor. And all the actors came to the reading as a favor to Paul and Pasek. At that juncture movie was not greenlit so there was no budget. They certainly didn't have the money to have some one like Caroline Bowman basically come read for Jenny (not really that big of a role).

This was my favorite movie. It WAS. Until I found out that Jeremy could have gotten the part and DIDN’T while he SOULD HAVE!!! I feel so incredibly sorry for him. Like, Zac was good, but Jeremy would have been incredible.

But he was never able to sing it and redeem himself because Jackman went against medical advice and started singing instead.

Did anyone pick up the double meaning at about 2:40 when he points at the cast and sings the line “but when I stop and see you here, I remember who all this was for”? It seemed to me like Jackman may have been talking/thinking about his sacrifice in singing with 80 nasal stitches against medical advice because his star power was essential to getting the movie greenlighted. The way he points at the cast at that particular line just made me think “I’m singing now because this project is so important to the whole team”. Also, if he wasn’t planning to sing and sounded like that coming in cold, I’m even more jealous of his instrument then I ever was!!! And I agree that Jeremy showed some real class in being supportive of Jackman taking over unexpectedly. It almost feels like Jackman got caught up in the power and energy of the moment which shows not only the the dedication of these talented performers, but the passion they have for their craft as well. An amazing cast, soundtrack, story, team of choreographers, and crew. So incredibly well done!!! Just phenomenal!!!

He sang Zac Efron‘s part and Hugh Jackman‘s part (Hugh’s last minute) while being incredibly sick himself, he bought his own plane ticket to NYC and back to LA because they didn‘t have the fundings for that. He sings "Rewrite the stars" and his voice gives out on the high notes because of his cold and so he said he wants for "From now on" to be this incredible redemption moment because he was crushed for not being 100 percent on the other song. And yet he stepped back when Hugh started singing and gave Hugh the moment he had hoped to be for himself. He was considered for the role of Philipp (Zac wasn‘t cast yet) and just before he leaves, he hears that Zac Efron got the part.
Yeahh... this entire moment seemed sooo uplifting, victorious and sentimental UNTIL I heard the other side of the story from Jeremy Jordan...
You know... the guy who flew there on his own expense because he was notified last minute...

Jeremy was robbed, his voice is beautiful and obviously Hugh's moment was emotional and incredible but Jeremy paid for his own ticket from LA to NYC to be there and cover for him whilst he was sick and had no voice and fought through the entire presentation and finally got to his big moment, a song he could sing without reaching that point of extreme pain and Hugh starts singing. But hats off to Hugh for singling through the stitches they must've also hurt and he did do a great job considering it was his role and all. Still think Jeremy should've been Philip ngl

Jeremy Jordan deserved to be apart of this final project with all he did to help contribute to it getting the green light. After hearing Jeremy’s side of things I can’t watch this video with the same excitement I did before. It disgusts me how he was used and just thrown aside. He could have played the part of Phillip and killed it.

3:10 omg u can soo see the pain in Jeremy Jordan's eyes. He told this story in one of his performances. Right before this he had sung "Rewrite the Stars" because he was originally supposed to play Phillip. He'd had a sinus infection right before this session, and during "Rewrite the Stars" Jeremy's voice gave out on him. So when they got to "From Now On" Jeremy was ready to redeem himself but then Hugh started singing and totally and unintentionally ruined Jeremy's moment. Then when they were leaving Jeremy heard that Zac Efron was in talks to play Phillip and that just crushed Jeremy even more. I mean I love the movie and everyone including Zac did an amazing job but I feel bad that Jeremy had to go through that experience

Jeremy Jordan is a damned hero and so so sooooo much the bigger person in this scenario for how graciously he handled the situation in that moment and ever since. TGS will always be duller for me because of how they disrespected Jeremy.

Jeremy Jordan has earned my respect from the first time they posted the featurette series. Same goes for Natalie Weiss and all the other unnamed singers who ensured that this movie musical was green lit. The actors were great too but I'm sorry Zac Efron always seemed like more of a "famous personality" that was thrown into the pile of amazingly talented artists for the extra cash his fame would bring. A very sad reality in the industry but I do hope that they evolve and start giving credit where credit is due.

When I first saw the movie i had no idea about what Jeremy went through, I loved the movie, it's good, but after knowing all this, it's really hard to watch it the same way again, they robbed Jeremy really bad, dude literally made the movie happen, not only did he almost killed his own voice to make an entire musical by himself, but bought his own stuff to make it happen and save the whole thing, just to not only be replaced in the casting, but to not be acknowledge at all for it... its really messed up, and the worst part is that he has an unbelievable amazing talent, for acting and singing bruh

My guy flew all the way out here (with his own ticket) after being sick and taking a steroid (which he didn’t want to do) just to do this show.
