  • This video shows the excellent flying properties of the Elan 7. Comfortable for a B, good and precise agility, fast enough for the category. A really interesting design for 2019!

    Thanks for the review! I've had license for more than 10 year but flew less lately due to same lvl of love I have for motorcycles. Looking into getting back into flying and downgrading from low D to high B. Also Mac is manufactured in my country so it looks to be a great choice.

    I'm really happy with the elan2 you reviewed, I just paid for an eden 7. I'm excited. Btw that elan2 is shockingly fast, d wings have to use a little speed bar to keep up with my trim speed

    3/5/20. I just flew 2 hours on my new eden 7 in 13/16 mph very smooth winds here at the beach, (my regular spot) in the central coast of California. My weight is in the bottom 1/4 of the 33 square meter wing. My first impressions are quick easy opening, kites and stays overhead too easy, no aggressive shooting forward at the cliff face, perfect predictable launch and initial control authority, responds well to "C" riser steering and weight shift steering, quite lofty and good glide ratio, remarkably smooth while being "Waked" by close passing wings and general turbulence, pretty rock solid feeling all in all. That's the good stuff. My critique is the breaks are pretty firm, turning right or left with breaks alone is pretty firm, breaks are longer than I like, in order to get tight S turns or gentle wingovers it requires me to pretty much horse the break handles harder than all other wings I own. Big ears are unusually firm to apply but stay put until I flick the breaks 2 times. Upon landing (within 4 feet of the ground), I took a wrap and buried the breaks as far as I could, there was no sign of a stall at all. A Super stable wing that gave me very little adrenaline fix, and required unusual authority to make it "wind up". "Fly in peace" is true, they mean it. I normally fly the elan 2, there is a very noticeable difference between macpara's B wing and C wing. Elan2 is nimble and fast, requiring average input power. Eden 7 is less so, as expected for a B wing. It's the noticeable, extra muscle power necessary to make it do stuff that I find unusual. All in all I'm kinda happy. It ain't no C wing for sure. I'll probably use this B wing when I want to fly and occasionally nap on autopilot.

    hello Ziad
    still very interested in your wing tryouts
    with a few other magazine articles, I can make up my mind and choose my wing.
    a suggestion:
    I watch your videos, I see the induced movements of your harness, it would lack a camera that films in parallel the movement of the wing.
    regards

    Hi Ziad
    My weight in flight is 78kg .... but I also like to do bivouac flight and I have to add 3 -4 kg and I'm going to 81- 82kg maximum flight
    What size do you recommend?
    As I use small sizes, there is no demo and I can not try and I have doubts between several models
    If you had to choose, which one would you stay with?
    Mcpara Eden 7
    Air Design rise 4
    6 light mentor
    Advanced XI
    Thank you very much for your time and help and sorry for my English, I don't speak it well

      Hi Javier,
      The Ozone Swift 5 S size 75-85 will suit your flying weight better.
      It's an amazing glider. You can also fly it at 85 and still be super efficient. Cheers

      @@ziadbassil thanks !! but I plan to change seats too and I would stay at 76 kilos for normal flights (which will be 85% of the times I fly) and 80-81 kg in bivouac flight
      If so.

      I have tried the Swift and it does not convince me. Thank you !!!

    Ziad, it looks like in some of the shots you are flying a Delight 3, and I see what looks like an attempt to hold the flight deck higher with some orange cord. I also have a Delight 3 and am trying various fixes for the same problem. Can you please provide details of your system?

    • @ziadbassil
      @ziadbassil  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, No the cockpit is ok. The orange line is from the carabiners to the lowest attachment point of the feet plate. I adjusted the D3 by adding those on both sides. Cheers,

      @@ziadbassil Thanks, but that makes me think of something else. I also fly a D2 harness. On it, my legs are supported with no effort, but on the D3, if I dont press on the foot plate, my legs will not stay up. On long flights that is very annoying. Why did you run the orange cord?

    For your opinion and wisdom, what wing will be easiest for the first High-B, Eden7 or Vision (or may be something else)?
    PS
    It is practically impossible to get a wing for demo flight for new, interesting wing. For example, the queue to order is already up to 10 weeks for Eden7. So dealers sell wings, but don't hold them for demo flights :)

      Uturn Blacklight 2 is a very good "high B" wing also. It refuses to collapse or get out of shape in pretty hairy turbulence. It grabs and surges up and forward when I hit lift. Rock solid imho

    Hi Ziad. Your mind...I am currently Looking for a new glider Since 2016 the ion4 is on my side, I love ths glide, ist agility . I am loaded at the xs at 83/84 Kilo, the i4 climbs oerfecz iin weak and strong thermals. I wanna have now a bit more. Was testing the Arak from SW, very exciting glider, the XS ( 65-85/90 kg ) at greece in strong conditions and France for around 15 Hours. Climbls perfect in weak and strong conditions, real good glide, nol pitching or rolling, easy to start, a very high passiv safety, even at turbulent conditons I never had a collapse. The only thing, the trimm Speed , evem to loaded is , from my sight not more then 35 km, max around 49. I think a bit to slowly, wish at top load a trimm of clear 38/39, top Speed 50/51. What would you recommend me to try else. You will test the Arak ? Thanx from black forest..Freddy

      @ziadbassil  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Freddy, Skywalk makes nice gliders. I didn't try the Arak yet, and its a bit difficult to get one now... But usually the Mid and low B gliders are slow and that's a safety factor. Some high B's are slightly faster but also are more dynamic in turbulent air. The Mentor 6 is faster for example. Cheers,
