I agree with other comments here. The owner of that poor dog shouldn't even have a dog. New born puppies shouldn't just be left outside. Mom never received proper care herself, so why would you think she'd know better. But the cat that still needed to fulfill her motherly bond with babies took care of everything. This will most likely happen again unless the owner of the dog starts being a good responsible owner.
I agree Katz. The dog is neglected. More than likely dehydrated and underfed. She most likely is low in producing milk because of it. The owner must be reported to ASPCA!
Exactly. I was wondering why the puppies were easily stolen. These idiots leave their pets and puppies outside. MORONS! This video is NOT cute. It is sad.
Ann M just because a dog is outside doesn't mean it is neglected my dog lives outside and she loves it honestly she prefers being outside and we most definetly do NOT neglect her we check on her a lot and she gave birth to her pups outside, but we did end up bringing them into the garage, also they are animals they can live outside... Most kittens are born outside and are fine why is it any different from puppies??? Also you don't know if these people neglect there dog!!!So stop accusing people of things you don't even know about! Sure its better for them to be inside when they are that young but if there mom is an outdoor dog then they will most likely become outdoor dogs if that is the case then yeah they probably should be outside as soon as possible so just shut up about it!!😡😡😡
Yeah, I am glad not many mothers who loose their children go steal other children. What this act did was instinct as far as I understand, if a cat gives birth her mother instincts make her see everything as her kids, there is a video of a cat adopting baby chicks, despite the original mothers protests :-P
The love of a mother exists in all species. I am so touched by this story. But sadly there are bad mothers who neglect their children too. What a sweet kitty!
Edwin That is so very true of mother neglecting their children, I've seen this at first-hand at least four women that I know of, one had six children they end up going into foster care, split up and adopt out to different families because she could care less about them! The second one had two children that she neglected and her parents took them in to raise them! The third one had four children that went in to foster care, and they are still there! The fourth one, had 5 children that were split up to different family members, because she was like the others three that cared more about their drugs, the night life and screwing every tom, dick and harry that would do them!!! So *please* do not call someone a liar if you don't know shit about the subject!!!!....
Virginia Bradley my dog grew up around cats her whole life, the cats we have love her although they annoy her so she growls but there still close to each other
The dog was improperly cared for from the beginning if she was outdoors with her newborn puppies. Else there is no way the Cat could have stolen them. Glad that the cat was there and raised the pups. Good for all concerned.
1. Dogs are not wild animals. They have neither the instincts nor the skills to raise and protect young alone outdoors. 2. The dog was described as a spaniel type. Due to human intervention in their breeding they have long soft coats. They require grooming and care. 3. She could and should have been spayed if the family didn't want to care for her in the house. 4. If they didn't want her in the house, they certainly didn't mean to have puppies indoors, so she should not have been permitted to breed. She should have been spayed.
Dindin Private. Wrong. Some canines are just very bad mothers. As a kid I remember having a beautiful apricot french poodle who failed miserably as as a mother. She wouldn't stay with the pups long enough to nurse them. She was far to interested in what was going on outside the nursing pen to care. We tried everything, she simply wasn't interested.
Lulu Amos, that is true, some are not good mothers. However I don't see how that contradicts anything I wrote. Both are true. Most often a dog that makes a poor mother either had one herself, or was taken from her own mother too young.
I like to think I'm this big tough Guy, But Miss Kitty here brought a tear to My eyes. Animals are amazing. Why can't People be more like Them? Feed em, water em, love em and You get unconditional Love.
I remember this story years ago. The people kept the dog on a chain outside next to a tiny dog house. No wonder she didn’t nurse her pups. The stress was too much 😞
Miss Kitty is the real mom for the pups..coz just giving birth does not make anyone a mom...fulfilling motherly obligations is the true essence of being mom.
100% true. Blood means very little, really it means nothing without love but it can strengthen a bond but it does not create one on its own. Being a parent is what makes someone your mother or father. People really need to learn this lesson as it will save some people a lot of heartache. Your true parents are the ones who care for you, who are there for you without any thought to themselves.
@P C - Wait... so if your mother gives birth to you and abandons you, due to not caring, you should still see her as your true parent just because she gave birth to you becasue "giving birth to a child is a big deal" (granted there are some situations in which you could forgive someone for abandoning you... but that does not negate the fact that the women who actually raised you is your real mother)? The women who took you in and actually raised you was not your true mother/parent? Not sure I follow your logic... or maybe you misunderstood what I was saying? I am not saying that giving birth means nothing (in fact I had not even mentioned giving birth, only blood relation)... I am simply saying the person who selflessly cares for you is your actual parent and you are not beholden to someone just becasue of blood (actions are what matter, if one simply gave birth but the other raised the child for 18+ years of their life the one who did the raising is the mother hands down, granted the one who gave birth is still the birth mother but not the true mother). My whole point is if you are say adopted and those people love you like their own and raise you... THEY ARE YOUR TRUE PARENTS. Granted it is still normal to want to know your birth parents and to have some love for them... but those people are not who you are and you do not owe them anything just becasue of blood relation. Is this really that controversial and "simplistic"? I think not. In fact it is logical, the only reason some have issue with it is society has put this odd importance on blood relations (again blood can help strengthen a bond... but it alone does not command blind loyalty, love, or trust). Also not sure why you even brought up child birth since I did not even mention that in my first reply. Also this has nothing to do with rape victims loving their children or not... in fact that is way out of left field compared to what I was saying and I cannot even being to understand why you would even bring something like that up (I know it is true and I agree with you.. but it has NOTHING to do with what I said... nothing AT ALL).
@@GameLoot I can agree with this. My biological other half has been in prison since I was a year old, and I know pretty nothing about him. I hardly consider him family (which is why I didn't say my biological "father"). I consider my (step)dad as my real father because he was always there. Even when I found my birth certificate and talked to Mom about the name that I didn't know (I didn't even know the other half existed till I found the certificate), that didn't change anything. I still consider my (step)dad as my real father whether he's blood related or not.
@@dannyfoxboi - I am the same about my step mother. She is my mother for all intents and purposes since she raised me since I was 7 and still to this day is always there for me. My biological mother moved away and while I still have love for her it is not the same.
In the summer of 2005 my neighbors cat was very sick 😷 she gave birth to 6 kitty’s I was a mom to a 1 year old I kid you not the momma kitty 🐱 left her babies brought them one by one and gave me a look like please take care of them it broke my heart ❤️ and she walked away even animals know when you are a good person they know
I had a HUGE MALE CAT, he was 18 lbs. & not an ounce of fat...his mother was a Persian & his father was Siamese, he was short haired, but big feet & bones of a Persian ( but larger ), coloring of a Siamese ...he had 6 toes, and looked like he had boxing gloves...we named him Boxer. We had him for a yr., my new husband moved in and he had a cat ( who had kittens ) also a German shepherd dog...BOXER ran away !!! A couple times over the yrs. I thought I saw him a couple blocks away in a tree. I divorced my cruel husband & yr. later Boxer came back !!! After 8 yrs !!! I had a brand new boyfriend & Boxer was so large he was scared of him !!! Boxer had become Feral after so many yrs. on his own... wouldn't come in house, but I feed him outside. In the meantime the neighbor moved out & left 2 sister cats ! They would hang around sometimes & I didn't feed them. One day Boxer refused to eat unless I fed the other cats, so I did !!!?? A few months later I learned why....we had Raccoons living in our Evergreen trees. One day a Raccoon went under our front porch & we heard cats screaming & I looked out & baby kittens were running in every direction & climbing our fruit trees to get away from Raccoon !!! I went out to gather the kittens & looked at their paws ( ALL six toed !!! )...they were Boxer's babies !!! I then understood why he refuse to eat unless I fed the mother & her sister !!! I found good homes for all the kittens when they were old enough...but kept 1, she was the runt, had long hair & bob tailed like Mother...but Boxers perfect Seal Point coloring fur & that Siamese voice & temperament of being very affectionate, curious & frankly demanding of attention ( loving of human contact )....So I had a seal point Himalayan, with 6 toes & bobcat tail !!! We would have loved to breed her, but she was only 6 lbs & we got her fixed to protect her health !!! She lived until she was 18 yrs old ....she talked & had a different sound for what she wanted, ...she would go to the door to go outside & if it was raining...she'd look at us & say " can't you make this go away ? " we totally understood what she was saying LOL...I miss her so much !!!
This is an older story and a sad one. The dog lived its life chained to a tree and barely groomed. It’s no surprised the dog had no interest in her pups. The cat was left to roam around and get pregnant. No very responsible owners.
Allmyrage jones, now why am I not surprised, have you heard the saying "every dog deserves a home but not every home deserves a dog" goes for any animal I suppose.
Allmyrage jones so true. Cocker spaniels are high maintenance dogs. They should never be outside permanently. Their hair gets tangled and matted. They get bad ear and eye infections.
Allmyrage jones I don't understand how anyone can have a dog chained up. I think laws are far too lax about animal cruelty. Having empathy for other animals is important for learning how to treat people in our lives too.
Yes it was a trailer park in South Carolina. The Cocker Spaniel was chained to a tree. Miss Kitty deserves the best of love for what she did. And for all of us should take notes from her, about being compassionate and loving 😍.
I had a dog that nursed kittens. The dog never had a litter but, every time my cat had a litter the dog produced milk and helped the momma cat feed the babies.
BEEYOUNGKAH _VIP, My neighbor is having the same problem with his dog producing milk, but she is spayed, never had puppies and there aren't any new baby animals around here.
antonio -Are you seriously trying to compare a cat's instinct with moral values? the cat's instinct here did not require a conscious decision making process to determine the right or wrong course of action to solve a moral or ethical dilemma. That is what separates humans from cats. The same instinct that often makes cat's kill things for no reason.
@@titaniumquarrion9838 wow someone doesnt know any history if you seriously dont see the error of man or the fact that most committ murder without reason
Doesn't sound like Miss Kitty or Smoochie had owners worth a damn...puppies and a lactating dog left outside on a chain? No wonder she didn't care...and Miss Kitty living in the under-carriage of a mobile home? Wonder how her litter all died? Where are the flippin' owners of these poor animals??! This is a clear case of animals possessing more humanity than humans! Nuff said...peace out!
@@ninakore Right. Because it couldn't be due to financial strife or anything. Because, you know. That couldn't cause anyone to no live in a 3 story house with a 5 car garage or anything.
You can see pale gums on Smoochie. It's probably caused by flea bite anemia. Not good for any cat or dog, and deadly for kittens and puppies. That's probably how Miss Kitty lost her babies 😿
Jamie Wilcox. I was thinking the same way. I love both cats and dogs. I've had both at the same time and they slept together all the time. They were hardly ever apart. When my dog gave birth, the cat cleaned them and my dog was great about it. It was a sweet moment. I'll have to find one of the videos I took and some of the pictures.
OK, the dog own chances dog up to dog house she has the puppy she wants nothing to do with the puppies and she ends up just hitting them with the chains every time she passes them dragging the puppies around and the dog owner does nothing. That's the part of the story that sucks the cat doing her due diligence is great. It's the owner of the dog.
For instance if I had a dog and I noticed that she was neglecting her puppies I would be trying to figure out why bring her someplace safe with the puppies where they can't be hit by in Chains and start feeding the puppies myself
Because it's a click bait. The narrator says a lot of times we won't believe the reasons the cat took the puppies. The obvious reason is the cat thinks they are her kittens. What else should be? The cat wants to sell the puppies? Does she want to keep the puppies hostage?
They're just unhappy people who don't believe that "differences" can be overcome. Either that or they were just broken-hearted that Miss Kitty lost all of her kittens (I doubt this theory, though).
The Uber Successful They apparently left the puppies outside while they were away, and kept their mother on a chain. Not exactly the type to be bottle-feeding puppies every 3-4 hours. (They lived in a trailer park, not on a farm.)
Our 2 cats gave birth at the same time. No matter how hard we tried, they kept putting both litters in one box. They would take turns feeding them, so one of them could go relax somewhere else. 🤣
I had a Maltese Terrier who nursed 4 abandoned kittens. She gave birth a week later to 4 puppies, sadly the photos are gone, but it was an awesome sight 4 white pups and 4 black kitties. She was an amazing mum. Her pregnancy was planned and her family went to loving homes.
It's a good thing that a mere cat had more sense to take care of these puppies than the human owners who kept these puppies outside with an un-spayed mother who didn't want them. I wonder if they've spayed the female dog yet?
It's really terrible that these people kept the mother and puppies outside, easy prey for anything, but thankfully his cat saved them. They should have their dog spayed.
I think there's some truth to that. There's a joke in Israel that "the US has squirrels but Israel has cats." Some communities have instituted capture/spay/neuter/release programs but for the most part, ferals are fed, given water and the natural cycle takes care of itself. We took a kitten from a female feral and we did have him neutered but he lives in the house so our choice to make him domesticated. You do not want an intact male in the house. Right after that, the town got his parents and they have now become almost fully domesticated. Sorry, I'm rambling here but it is possible to care for ferals and make sure they're healthy if you don't think every animal needs to live forever and realize that death is part of life.
nunchaku101 Oh FFS there's nothing new about it. We've been fixing livestock since before we developed written language. Today it's encouraged for pets because if we didn't push spaying and neutering that we'd end up with huge feral cat and dog populations. Large feral populations bring wonderful things like much more rabies cases, feral dog attacks, and cats in particular will decimate the hell out of the local small animal population.
Game Playz A lot of animals in captivity(zoos and such) will reject their offspring, im sure it’s bc they don’t want the same fate for their babies. So maybe this dog didn’t want those pups to suffer...it’s obvious from the overall video that those animals were not cared for properly.
Imagine if dogs could talk to each other and one puppy is like my mom's once saved me from falling out a tree ( I dunno ) and the other talk about how great there mum's are and then one puppy stands up and says MY MOM IS A CAT
That could be like a little cartoon movie where they go to school and talk and stuff and share things about there lives. And 5 of the puppies have a cat mom 😭😭 so cute

humans have already learned this lesson centuries ago. it's called adoption. taking an orphan or an abandoned baby and raising them as your own. look it up. adoption.
This story is too touching... No matter what those pups will still love Miss Kitty... I feel bad that Miss Kitty's kittens are dead..If they are alive they sure have a lucky Mom.. But sadly can't..at least she did her motherly duties to help the Pups :) Who ever dislikes the video doesn't have a heart..
Animals are a lot smarter than most people. Miss Kitty knew something wasn't right, for her AND the dog, and helped out. Anyone who believes that cats, and dogs, do not have feelings or can't love has no eyes, heart, or soul. Both those neglected animals need to be spayed. Their "owners" do not appreciate them. Every cat and dog should have a home - but not every home should have a cat or dog.
Very well said MomKat Pat! :) I do happen to live in a mobile home park and my hubby and I have 2 kitties, Leo who is a Ragamuffin and is 10 years old and then we have a sweet little calico named Cheyenne and she is 10 as well. When we bought our mobile home there was a little outdoor calico kitty named Callie Mae that kind of adopted us. The manager of the mobile home park had her spayed and given all her shots. When they do that here in the state of Wisconsin, they clip one of their ears so that they know they are spayed, have all their shots and whatnot. That way nobody can remove her from her home here in the park. There is also an un-altered male cat that we have named Tom that, when we first moved here, would not come up to anyone. He is now one of the sweetest kitties because we make sure that he gets a can of cat food (he can't eat dry because he is an older tomcat and can't chew that well because of his teeth) and when we give him dry, we have to wet it a little so he can eat it. We make sure that they both get fed a can of food each day and that they have shelter. My husband made them a little house with shingles on top and everything! LOL They are truly loved by us and if there are any other kitties that we see that don't have a home we will take care of them the best we can too. We are both cat lovers :) What I have seen on this video makes me sad because that poor little mama dog shouldn't be tied up on a chain outside "with" her babies!! I totally agree with you when you say that not every home should have a cat or dog. These furbabies deserve unconditional love just like any human being deserves unconditional love
StarSeed63 - You and your spouse are the BEST!!! I'm impressed your manager had CallieMae spayed. And THANK YOU for caring for her and Tom. I truly wish more people were like you. Right now I help out with T-N-R'ing stray and feral kitties in our community. We just trapped the Granddaddy of way too many litters, so that was a feat. We try to get other people involved, and though so many complain, they don't want to help solve the situation. YOU two do! Once a feral gets some caring, and a bit of food, many turn that corner and become affectionate. Like Tom. What an achievement. Always be YOU! From my name, you can guess I'm a total Cat Person 💖 All that Unconditional Love 💖
every single cat I've had that had kittens only loves the cat until there done nursing. then they are mean to them to get them to stop. after that they are strangers. they do this because of instinct. they can also kill those babies cause of instinct. I'm not saying your wrong and they aren't loving. but I can see why people don't believe that.
I deffinately dony agree that all cats and dogs should have homes though. I think people should of left those cats and dogs alone to begin with. never domesticated them. so many animals end up hurting and a lot are bread, paid for, abandoned then live there lives in shelters or are killed. what is the point of that. they have a right to be free and live there natural life. but people like you take that from them. the only cats I've ever had chose to live with me. I did not buy them. I did not force shit into there bodies (shots) and I did not traumatize them with hair cuts and things unatural to them. I simply opened my door and gave them food, water and love and they decided they wanted to stay even though they were free to go. I'm sorry but people need to let animals alone. its just so awful the things they go threw because people think they are to be owned
momkat pat I'm a cat lover too. they are my absolute favorite animal. I love there personalities. I love every thing about them. I just love them differently than you. I think they deserve to live the life they choose. not the one humans choose. that's the only difference. it just upsets me to no end that they are bread and bought just to be abandoned or killed. that is why I do not participate in that. I do however help alot of cats. i just don't force any of them to accept my help and there is nothing wrong with that.
@@josemarivictorsilayan9167 Yes i do! But not a single animal ever tried to rip me off or talk behind my back or treat me like i don't exist or cheat on me or steal from me or lie to me or backstab me etc, i could go on all day. Nope, Humans are mostly evil skinsacks.
Why was the dog on a chain and living outside with her puppies? Clearly the dog was neglected and that is probably the reason she had little interest in her puppies. Miss Kitty is amazing.
I don't think it was such a great story. I think they put a good spin on the fact that the animals weren't spayed and it sounds like the owner didn't take very good care of their dog.
Minita Bathija we Travel 3 times a year for minimum because of my dad's work and vacations and i we cant trust anyone cause our parrot jackob died from starvation because we trusted someone for caring him
Why was the dog and the new born pups outside? They should have been in the house where it was clean and they could be taken care of. Shame on the owners, maybe they should be put outside with a chain around there neck tied to a tree. I don't understand why someone even gets a pet if there just going to treat them like that. Shame on the owner... I'm just glad the kitty was around to take care of those little puppies, good kitty. 🐈😻
CVTMR maybe they just got her to have puppies for them so they could sell them for the money but didn't realise there's much more to having a dog and it successfully having healthy puppies than just getting the dog and chaining it up so it wouldn't be a nuisance :(
CVTMR It's not bad to have an outside dog unless you are feeding them and playing with them. Every day I go and give my dog food and water since he is an outsidr dog. While I'm doing that I'm constantly giving him attention and playing with him. I give him baths when he gets dirty and he really loves it when we play and he likes it outside. It's not always that bad to keep them in an area like that as long as they have enough space to move around and has a littler shelter area. Like my dog also has a big enough dog house for him to sleep and habe extra space.
Abby Boots Unfortunately, the human race seems to be on a downhill slide! It is sad that so many people do not care for their children or any child for that matter. Animals will normally do anything and everything for their young unless somehow something is deathly wrong with the babies. And yet supposedly humans are of higher intelligence.
That cat is special, she is what we call in the animal world a "queen". A cat who lactates to allow other cats or animals to get milk and be cared for. Usually though you see "queen" dogs. It is just more easy if the dog is the one over a cat since they are larger and can handle just about anything of any size meanwhile cats have their limits.
Mrs.Kitty could not suckle herself to release the building milk pressure; also a factor in her nursing & hopeful mental recovery from her kittens not surviving.
I've seen this story before and I'm going to say it again, the reason the dog wants nothing to do with the puppies is because she had them outside on a chain, she's stressed because if her puppies get too far away from her she won't be able to take care of them anyway, dogs are not stupid, that dog and those puppies should have been inside the home, those puppies should have been born inside, off the dirt, under cover safe and warm, and then there would be no stolen puppies, the dog and puppies and miss kitty should be taken and giving to other people who will treat them better, god only know what germs those puppies picked up being born on the dirt and how much sand dust is in thier lungs, yes its a sweet story about the cat and puppies but its abuse the way that dog is chained up, having her puppies outdoors, a wild animal could have tried to take one of her pups and there's nothing she could do but watch cause she's friggin chained up, this owner is stupid and its abuse, dog, puppies and cat should all be taken from these dumb fucks and found better homes!!
I came to the comments as soon as I heard that in the video. "She was dragging the puppies around with a chain." Cruel to the mom and total neglect for the puppies to be left in that environment!
Okay first off chill 2 it's actually not that uncommon for dogs to be kept purely outside did you look at the yard it has no fence that's probably why the dogs on a chain but I do agree the puppy's should have been born inside

While I agree with all the comments about how to take care of a pet, c'mon, the gist of the tale is about motherly love. If you all feel that you could do better, please go to a shelter and adopt a pet ( if you haven't already)
Mary Carlson when I was growing up, we had a beautiful shepherd who my parents kept chained at times, as there were no invisible fences in the '70's. Looking back, that seemed so cruel, but, it was to keep him safe from " herding cars" as shepherds have that instinct. As he aged, he never really learned property boundries..he was a 🐕. Anyway, better to keep him safe. I still miss him, his name was King.
Although the story is beautiful it just shows me how many people do not spay or neuter their animals. If you really cherish your animals please do them and all those who have to rescue The Unwanted puppies and kittens a favor spay or neuter.
Kim it is ridiculous to think everybody will neuter their pets, then pet population would either away, what needs to be stopped I'd doing business with pets, stop commercial breeding completely, no buying or selling cars, just giving for adoption
Timber :3 you people always promote commercial breeding of animals, and prevent natural mating. Raping animals is ridiculous and insane. stop commercial breeding of animals and buying and selling of pets, with all your so called civility, and laws you were unable to stop the bombing of world centre, or mass killing in Paris. Shame on you and your pet business, we outsiders know you people are very efficient regarding animal handling.
My first 3 dogs were not spayed or neutered, didn't wind up getting anything pregnant or having puppies. I paid attention to them. Last 2 were because they were adopted. If my dog is trained to stay in my yard, and only outside when he wants to play or go to the bathroom and i'm out there with him, I don't have to worry about him getting into trouble. And he gets to avoid unnecessary surgery. Everybody wins! Edit: except the vet i guess, who gets to charge me for nut snipping.
My cat has not only nursed her own litters but a couple bunnies and a litter of field mice I tried to feed her. Thru the years she has stolen more of her grandchildren to her great great grandchildren. She was my born momma. She sadly passed away at 11 years old still pregnant. She gave us 3 litters a year with 6 kittens a litter. Being a farm cat she taught them all to be mousers. To this day she is the only cat I've every seen that could snatch a hummingbird out of the air, or bring me presents like a live baby badger. A cat I will never forget. Best cat I've ever seen
Moral of the story is the irresponsible owner. A Cocker Spaniel outside on a chain dragging newborn puppies around with it. An unfixed female cat having who knows how many litters. It's a heartwarming story, but still.....
Very true. The owners of the dog should have brought her inside to care for her puppies instead of leaving her outside with her puppies. What if one puppy got to far from the chain and the dog couldn’t get to the puppy to nurse? 😔 Thank goodness Miss Kitty save the day 😁
I saw a black cat walk across me the other day... When I was walking into a gas station. It kinda jogged away from me. But it couldn't resist saying hi to me anyway, as the furball went away 🤷
Mother's are mother's ,our dog Molly raised three separate kittens and each time she brought milk on to feed them. Molly wasn't pregnant any of those times
I read this happened in 1993 when spaying animals wasn't quite as widespread as now. When the TV station ran the story the cat got more kittens to nurse. The vet recommended the owners make the mama dog lay down and nurse her own puppies which was done. According to the news article this is where the story ends.
Please people. Spay and neuter your pets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really. It's not that difficult. I hope that cat got enough food during this nursing ordeal.

Why would the owner of the cocker spaniel keep a small dog with infant babies outside an especially where they can get seriously hurt with that dog chain. I'm thinking the owner's of the dog may be the guilty one's here. They should of provided a safe place for her to have those puppies an then care for them if she didn't. Certianly shows the cat has more commen sense an heart then the human's in this story!!
Deana Boswell, That's what I was thinking, too. It was already a bit alarming seeing this bedraggled-looking cat while it said ALL her kittens died. That doesn't point to good circumstances. Then when they had the puppies just lying out in the hot sun with no shelter or supervision even though the owners apparently knew the mom wasn't taking any care of them, all the alarm bells went off. Sadly seems like one of those areas where people think it's fine to let their un-spayed pets run around outside and then just "let nature take its course" with the unplanned pregnancies. Thank god the cat saved those poor puppies lives! I question if a cat can give proper nourishment to a whole litter of dogs, though, so HOPEFULLY someone has enough sense to step in.

Having a child doesn't automatically make you a good person worthy of praise. Are you still saying we should solute mothers who abuse, neglect, and starve their children? How about those mothers who tell you they wish you had never been born?
Very sweet story that shows you don’t have to be blood related to be family. Sad though that the owner had a dog and a cat both pregnant because they aren’t spayed. Not only does spaying/neutering keep the population of unwanted animals down but it also has many benefits that extend an animals lifespan.
These poor animals were betrayed and failed by humans so they did the best they could. If you don't know what pets need and don't want to devote some resources to caring for them, don't have pets. They aren't inanimate objects you can tie up, or put outside, and forget. They have emotional needs as well as physical ones. Not a heartwarming story, it's a sad commentary on unintentional cruelty.
@James Passmore Because we have a major stray/feral cat overpopulation problem. Strays and especially ferals live shortened lives with disease, injiry and even starvation. The mortality rate of their kittens is very high. Shelters have a hard time finding homes for these kittens and more so for adults, especially if they are sick or disabled. Unspayed/unneutered pets/housecats help contribute to the stray/feral population. Spaying and neutering is just part of responsible pet ownership, and having multiple litters is really hard on female kitties, especially their kidneys.
Phyllis Steging absolutely, the animal shelters here in Ireland are inundated with kittens and it's a huge problem. Cats have so many litters it really is kinder to neuter them.
Yes, I took in a pregnant stray back in March & found the babies homes after they were weaned. I got her spayed shortly after. It's a tough and expensive job to help take care of babies. I ended up keeping the stray. She grew on me.
The cat took the puppies to nurse because she lost her kittens and the puppies weren't being taken care of because their mom was on a chain... saved you 4:59. Oh yeah! Spay/Neuter your damn animals or give them to someone who can!
Sure. And if everyone did that, we'd have no more cats or dogs. LOL. I kind of think that's the owner's choice. If he, she, they want to take care of offspring, it's no one else's concern. Furthermore, I don't really understand people running around preaching that to begin with-what? There are too many cats and dogs? Guess what? There are far too many PEOPLE on earth, too, but for some reason, we're not going about sterilizing people-even ones who obviously should be. And people are both more destructive, and less able to care for themselves than any of these animals are.
Yes, there are MORE cats and dogs than there are homes for. Volunteer at your animal shelter and you'll see the suffering that overpopulation causes up-close-and-personal.
Yeah-the point is that cats and dogs do not need homes. Keeping them as pets is fine, but they were meant to be wild, like all animals, and the unwanted-especially cats-can fend for themselves well enough. Let's worry about ourselves-again-the creatures that are also multiplying way too quickly, but do more damage to their environment, take up more space, displace other species, need shelter, though we already do not have enough homes, and are fairly weak and codependent. Once we solve the problems of our own species, perhaps then we can actually claim to be smarter than the other animals, and tell them how to run their affairs.
I came to the comments as soon as I heard that in the video. "She was dragging the puppies around with a chain." Cruel to the mom and total neglect for the puppies to be left in that environment!
We too often become ignorant of our own spirit and soul and it gets bound somewhat to the other creatures in our domain, part of the "human condition". So, the animals will act it out somewhat also. There's no pat answers for how this transpires but any human doing some soul searching and having a change of heart to care for other beings can bring about life affirming awakenings to benefit life.
Ive seing this kind of behavior in cats, when i was a child we had a farn and many cats one time two cats had babys one lost all her kittens the other was dying from giving birth, i saw how they just exchange places the dying mother got up and walk outside to die away and the other just seated in and took over the kittens, they knew how i can only expeculate but they usually know wben one is sick and kick it out of the group so im guessing they can tell each others health.
Cats don't like to die at home...they try to go off to die. I don't know why...but they do. I suspect they don't want to hurt their owners feelings...but that is just a guess from experience. I'm 70 yrs old & had many cats in my life....one at a time ( my special baby not having to compete for affection )...with 2 or more loving family members to love them :) is best for them...they really don't like sharing their Humans. But we had one special cat who lived until she was 18 !!! She had became blind in her old age, and losing her hearing. Already had an over-active Thyroid for many yrs.& we had to feed her every 2 hrs. & she didn't want to eat...so we had to feed her Human food, which she'd never been allowed ( only 1 tiny can of wet food in morning & Science Diet dry food anytime she wanted )...then we were feeding her cheddar cheese ( her favorite ) and Pork loin roast ( 2nd fav. )...and she'd eat baked chicken. She didn't like beef...anyway, she refused to take meds. for it & they gave me a liquid med. but you had to put on rubber gloves ( because it would effect you ) & rub into her inner ear....she'd see me put on gloves & there was no way I could get near her LOL....so we fed her her favorites, constantly & it kept her alive for many years.
She did give them life as well. Bless her. Heart.
bring good luck I guess

You don't have to be related by blood, or even be part of the same species, to consider someone family.
Julio Cantu yup true
Julio Cantu today I literally said "we are all family, even our enemies, all we have to do is show them, why we are who we are"
absolutely we are all god's creation so therefore we're all family god is really is mysterious
Julio Cantu true my late poodle and cat were best friends even shared the same bed together and cuddled.
True. Sometimes blood relations also don't mean anything. Like my parents who abused me.
Katz n
Sure its better for them to be inside when they are that young but if there mom is an outdoor dog then they will most likely become outdoor dogs if that is the case then yeah they probably should be outside as soon as possible so just shut up about it!!😡😡😡
Dear lord you don’t get it do you? The owners aren’t neglecting the pups and dog it’s called an OUTSIDE DOG moron
Sometimes animals act more humanly than most of us
Yeah, I am glad not many mothers who loose their children go steal other children.
What this act did was instinct as far as I understand, if a cat gives birth her mother instincts make her see everything as her kids, there is a video of a cat adopting baby chicks, despite the original mothers protests :-P
Andrew_koala was my oi
In my opinion animals are more human and mankind is more beast
Sometimes?! More like usually especially nowadays
Almost always
The love of a mother exists in all species. I am so touched by this story. But sadly there are bad mothers who neglect their children too. What a sweet kitty!
Edwin
That is so very true of mother neglecting their children, I've seen this at first-hand at least four women that I know of, one had six children they end up going into foster care, split up and adopt out to different families because she could care less about them!

Not just neglect but abuse of all kinds too.

[WUT] Dra actually they get along very great.
Virginia Bradley my dog grew up around cats her whole life, the cats we have love her although they annoy her so she growls but there still close to each other
My cat was a baby when she was in my house and my dog didn’t do anything but play with it
The dog was improperly cared for from the beginning if she was outdoors with her newborn puppies.
Dindin Private. I will conceed that you are correct.
Thank you. We both are.
I like to think I'm this big tough Guy, But Miss Kitty here brought a tear to My eyes. Animals are amazing. Why can't People be more like Them? Feed em, water em, love em and You get unconditional Love.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TRUE
I remember this story years ago. The people kept the dog on a chain outside next to a tiny dog house. No wonder she didn’t nurse her pups. The stress was too much 😞

Roy Aww, love your comment! Cute! 😊
Miss Kitty is the real mom for the pups..coz just giving birth does not make anyone a mom...fulfilling motherly obligations is the true essence of being mom.
Jyuhii D my biological mother should read this post

Did you keep them?
Aww that's so cute, but please use punctuation next time? I could barely read it 😖
This is an older story and a sad one. The dog lived its life chained to a tree and barely groomed. It’s no surprised the dog had no interest in her pups. The cat was left to roam around and get pregnant. No very responsible owners.
Allmyrage jones, now why am I not surprised, have you heard the saying "every dog deserves a home but not
every home deserves a dog" goes for any animal I suppose.
Yes this story is very old.
Allmyrage jones so true. Cocker spaniels are high maintenance dogs. They should never be outside permanently. Their hair gets tangled and matted. They get bad ear and eye infections.
Allmyrage jones
I don't understand how anyone can have a dog chained up.
Lovely story and what a lovely mum the cat was.

I had a dog that nursed kittens. The dog never had a litter but, every time my cat had a litter the dog produced milk and helped the momma cat feed the babies.

When you realize animals have moral values higher than most humans
*woke*
antonio -Are you seriously trying to compare a cat's instinct with moral values? the cat's instinct here did not require a conscious decision making process to determine the right or wrong course of action to solve a moral or ethical dilemma. That is what separates humans from cats. The same instinct that often makes cat's kill things for no reason.

Why didn't the owners take care of the puppies since mommy didn't want to?
The Uber Successful unfortunately not everyone is a decent human being.

They shouldn't even have a dog.
Dubious owners saved from an animal neglect charge by a cat. Go figure.
When rats and other vermin take over, the CSNR people may rethink their position.
nunchaku101 Oh FFS there's nothing new about it.
I feel for these poor mistreated animals. Poor ownership, and I get tired of people not being responsible pet owners.
pet ownership is weird to begin with.
The dog left her puppys and its the Owners fault?
I always wanted a pet but i do not have the responsible but still i take care my family dog parrots and cats
Game Playz A lot of animals in captivity(zoos and such) will reject their offspring, im sure it’s bc they don’t want the same fate for their babies. So maybe this dog didn’t want those pups to suffer...it’s obvious from the overall video that those animals were not cared for properly.

We are both cat lovers :)
What I have seen on this video makes me sad because that poor little mama dog shouldn't be tied up on a chain outside "with" her babies!!

It is sad that animals have more compassion then humans
It's why i trust animals and not a single human.

Like take puppies away from their owners to take care of them assuming that they aren't already being cared for? To hell with that, man
_Minty_ Wolf_ xxo you are so right!👍🏽
I wouldn't exactly put it that way...like people could take that message the wrong way...
I just realised that this sounds a lot like one of the lines in Dr Strange
Why was the dog on a chain and living outside with her puppies? Clearly the dog was neglected and that is probably the reason she had little interest in her puppies. Miss Kitty is amazing.
Summary: all her kittens died so she started taking the puppies and taking care of them because the dog was not taking care of them.
Thank you
You're a saint, thanks for saving 4 minutes of my life. xD
Sounds like that would happen in real life tbh lol
I don't think it was such a great story. I think they put a good spin on the fact that the animals weren't spayed and it sounds like the owner didn't take very good care of their dog.
That's so sad! :( And ty so I don't have to see the whole vid ;)))

Mary Williams I have a pure bred Siamese he's very verbal too. I'm told they usually are.
Debbie Sullivan A yeah thats good but i cant get even a hamster because we Travel too much
GUD FLOOF BOI where do you travel, for what
Minita Bathija we Travel 3 times a year for minimum because of my dad's work and vacations and i we cant trust anyone cause our parrot jackob died from starvation because we trusted someone for caring him
Why was the dog and the new born pups outside? They should have been in the house where it was clean and they could be taken care of. Shame on the owners, maybe they should be put outside with a chain around there neck tied to a tree. I don't understand why someone even gets a pet if there just going to treat them like that. Shame on the owner... I'm just glad the kitty was around to take care of those little puppies, good kitty. 🐈😻
CVTMR maybe they just got her to have puppies for them so they could sell them for the money but didn't realise there's much more to having a dog and it successfully having healthy puppies than just getting the dog and chaining it up so it wouldn't be a nuisance :(
No kidding. I don't get it either. Spay and neuter, people!!!!
CVTMR they were probably on a potty break or a little walk in the backyard?
not only that but how did all the kittens die? did no one contact a vet? was no one watching them? sounds like both neighbors were neglectful
Pretty good stuff... Animals are awesome!!
The older I get the more I like cats and dogs.
My lord animals are more caring than people. If people aren’t more caring than animals then our society has a serious problem.
Yea animals more caring then people and I am happy to say that cause I ❤ ANIMALS
@Nicō:i2 That's true
Depends on the person and the animal, ultimately any animal has the capacity to do good and the capacity to do bad and humans are no exception.
@@mre1995 It's just that most humans choose to be bad.
So sweet of this kitty to take them in. The timing was purrfect
The story was pawsome
Mammal milk is an organism, not just a food. This kitty did far more than that, even, she gave them warmth, comfort, care, and protection. Amazing💖
What a beautiful caring cat...
Zamas,
What are you doing here Ningen?
Punctuation, baby!
Laura Smith Yes! Agree!! Horrible owners! Should have been reported immediately when this story came out!!
Okay first off chill 2 it's actually not that uncommon for dogs to be kept purely outside
did you look at the yard it has no fence that's probably why the dogs on a chain but I do agree the puppy's should have been born inside
Chill. It's actually kinda natural for puppies to be born out side...and its not abuse. Many dogs get chained up.
Miss kitty behaved like Madam Kitty lol animals are Beautiful People!

Brava, Miss Kitty! I suspect, as others here do, that the poor mama dog could not have been receiving proper nutrition or care. Also goes for Miss Kitty, having lost her entire litter. Don’t have pets if you’re not going to care for them properly, please!

Starlight M most who are commenting here are animal lovers. With that being said, I’ve “rescued” 6 dogs and 2 cats.
Although the story is beautiful it just shows me how many people do not spay or neuter their animals. If you really cherish your animals please do them and all those who have to rescue The Unwanted puppies and kittens a favor spay or neuter.
Timber :3
There is no such thing as “rape” in the dog world. Don’t put human behaviors on dogs.
What if you want to breed them
Kim it is ridiculous to think everybody will neuter their pets, then pet population would either away, what needs to be stopped I'd doing business with pets, stop commercial breeding completely, no buying or selling cars, just giving for adoption
Renee Brown I want a cat like that..
RIP whatever her name is... And her kittens....
Moral of the story is the irresponsible owner. A Cocker Spaniel outside on a chain dragging newborn puppies around with it. An unfixed female cat having who knows how many litters. It's a heartwarming story, but still.....
Finally some common sense in the comments. Definitely a good story, but the underlying issues are tragic, to say the least.
Very true. The owners of the dog should have brought her inside to care for her puppies instead of leaving her outside with her puppies. What if one puppy got to far from the chain and the dog couldn’t get to the puppy to nurse? 😔
Thank goodness Miss Kitty save the day 😁
Typical trailer trash

Good thing the animals cared for one another. It all worked out anyway. I think that was the overall moral of the story.

Catsavage 0x3 cats are the second most bought pet in the world.
I read this happened in 1993 when spaying animals wasn't quite as widespread as now. When the TV station ran the story the cat got more kittens to nurse. The vet recommended the owners make the mama dog lay down and nurse her own puppies which was done. According to the news article this is where the story ends.
ZinaD Neutering was widespread in the 90's. There was no excuse for not getting it done back then, just the same as today.
Agreed. @@GFSTaylor

I used to add an "x" to "especially," too! :D ... glad to know I'm not the only one

Lol actually I didn't even catch that. funny..
Deana Boswell exactly

June Pearl I agree with you. Thanks. These people should be charged with animal cruelty
The cat was outside by choice.
The cat was the only smart one of the bunch including the humans.
Oh, my little mommy kitteh. What a good girl.
Hooray for Miss Kitty. Now wise owners---go and get your pets spayed so you don't have more babies.
In some countries they destroy the wildlife though.
Phyllis Steging and adopt instead of buying

The cat took the puppies to nurse because she lost her kittens and the puppies weren't being taken care of because their mom was on a chain... saved you 4:59.
Oh yeah! Spay/Neuter your damn animals or give them to someone who can!
Word!
Ppl breed dogs on purpose, the owners choice is to breed them, then it's the mom
Health as well that is important.
Maybe chaining the dog had something to do with I too?
