    Where is this on a 99 A4 B5? I lost my key and need to put it in Neutral to move it.

    This was really helpful but how do you get the white part to stay up without going back down

    Good Day Patrick, thank you for the informative Video. Quick Question, the Foot Pedal red Light on the left of the gear selector Mechanism, why would it iluminate some times and sometimes not?

    Great tutorial video! Thanks for sharing... I have a 2001 VW Passat V6 automatic and ended breaking the plastic piece trying to replace the shift knob. You know where I can find a whole assembly to resolve the issue and is it called or label as the automatic transmission/ gearbox?
    Thanks again..

      Thanks for watching. I think its called "automatic transmission sifter assembly" Take a look at the one pictured in this link on ebay
      www.ebay.com/p/24030616134?iid=163603328124&chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=163603328124&targetid=882987571626&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9010759&poi=&campaignid=9248481261&mkgroupid=93494027426&rlsatarget=aud-298628318826:pla-882987571626&abcId=1141156&merchantid=8523484&gclid=CjwKCAjw3-bzBRBhEiwAgnnLCkr8lpkVTEP0ygqNkHhs7tTf-e9JX9ypzqnS727DbS10hoery7xPnxoCLYIQAvD_BwE
      I think both B5 (VW) and C5 (Audi A6/Allroad) platform use the same unit. If it look like yours then it probably work.

    3:40 is that what is responsible for making the button spring back? My shift button keeps getting stuck in and I've had the knob off multiple times but no help. Hope someone can help!

    • @pnswg01
      @pnswg01  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. There is no spring tension in that part. It's been a long time since I take one off, but I think there is a torsion spring and some plastic parts behind the button that keep it out. (Google "torsion spring" to see the type of spring I am talking about) If you remove the knob you can look at it and figure it out.
      Make sure when you pull up on the plastic piece, it retract by it self when you let go. Actually I think this is where the spring tension is. Let me know how your findings go.

    Nice Video. I have a C5 S6, and the shifter lock solenoid seems to have failed - it was locked in Park. Do you know if the solenoild connector is unplugged from the gear selector, will the transmission be able to shift? Thanks.

    Too push it out the bottom of car what do you need to remove from under car

    • @pnswg01
      @pnswg01  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know if the bucket will slide out the bottom of the transmission is still installed.
      This info is intended for people who are snapping from auto to manual transmission.
      In that case the transmission is coming out.

    For what is that cable ?

    • @pnswg01
      @pnswg01  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cable is used to control the transmission/gearbox. When you move the gear selector/lever it pulls and push the cable which is connected to the transmission below.

    Bro disconnect the battery

    • @pnswg01
      @pnswg01  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Tiptronic selector circuit only has power when the key is inserted into the ignition.
      If you want to go through the trouble of resetting the clock and radio codes (some cars) then you can disconnect the battery.
      If removing the transmission...then yes disconnect the battery, otherwise there is no need to.

    • @pnswg01

      After removing the last 4 bolts, push the whole box down below on top of the transmission.
      It will be the cable and a plastic box. What you did above is simply disconnect the cable from the shifter assembly. Good luck.

      Sorry about that. I didn't plan on making this video. After I start working, the idea come to mind, so I reinstall most of the parts removed and then make the video. I didn't bother to put back the trim because it is so easy to take off. That is the first instruction in the video. "USE A FLAT BLADE SCREWDRIVER TO REMOVE THE TRIM"
