Unlike you, I believe this device does have a market. I can think of two use cases for it where it beats most of the competition. My mom doesn't drink much coffee anymore, and in her 90's doesn't want complexity. She wants a consistently good cup of coffee. She had changed to the kurig for the simplicity, but let's face it, that's not a wonderful cup. The other pourers are more time than she wants to invest, and holding a kettle up long enough to manage the hario isn't something she can do easy with her shakiness. This is perfect for her to get a consistent very good cup of coffee. The other case is the office worker, or even home office worker who doesn't have the time to dedicate to doing the formal pourover but again wants a decent cup of coffee. This is me. On the weekends, I go for the ceremony, and do a v60 or Chemex or Aeropress depending what I am in the mood for. It's a relaxing time. But during the week, I went with the MoccaMaster thermal to make a large pot I could hit throughout the day. With the Oxo, I can make a fresh cup as I want it, let it do it's thing and have a very drinkable cup of coffee with no mess and no waste.
If you’re over extracting; too much time, you are grinding too fine. You need the proper grind size. I have one of these, it brews amazing pour overs. You just need to fine tune your methodology. The best feature is, you pour and go. I just can’t agree with your assessment.
At least you asked if those 3 beans make a difference. For me it's a LOUD overwhelming no. However, 5° difference in water temp and I'll start arguing that it definitely does make a difference.
Thank you for this review. I am new to pour over (and coffee in general, though I have been making cold brew in my french press for years). I think with the bloom would it make sense to simply pour directly over the grounds, rather than through the water tank? The water tank seems to be designed to emulate your hand/timing in the slow pour. But with the bloom, you are pouring pretty quickly (like 6-8 seconds) to wet the grounds. I think you could remove the water tank, pour the water directly over the grounds to quickly wet them for the bloom, then reattach the water tank for the brewing process.
Hi Bob and Michelle...just to give you some perspective...my mom and dad had a Chemex back in the late 50's and early 60's. They have been around a LONG time! Cheers!
If you’re going to review a product, at least do it correctly. WORST most uninformed ignorant review I’ve ever seen. First of all, of course you can pour water into the tank-the most that will go through it by the time you reach the level you want is maybe 5 or 6 drops-nothing that will ruin your brew. Second of all, did you even read the directions? Why would you just put the water tank on the lid when you’re done-where would you put the rest of the dripper at that point-what good would that do? You’re supposed to put the entire dripper on the lid! There are many scenarios where this dripper is an excellent choice. You’re certainly entitled to your opinion, but if you’re going to review a product, at least do an educated review…

@@kbrooke469 But I don't see any videos on your channel... So I guess you don't bother your time to produce any. I have another channel with 6500 subs and it burns my butt when folks have crap to say about the content and they've never even bothered to make any videos themselves. It is very difficult to put YT content together. A 10 minute video can take a day or more, with all the work that goes into them. The couple here obviously very much enjoy doing them and I think they are very knowledgeable. You should move on before you sling shit here. Srsly, this is YT, not your place of work where you can bitch about your coworkers to the boss.

Melitta also sells a 10 cup pour over pot with dripper for about $30
