    as far as I know,
    Sanskrit has more or less :
    27.000 nouns.
    2000 verb-roots / dhatu
    among them 1200 most frequently-used dhatu
    in literatures
    50 basic dhatus for basic daily conversations (Samskrta Bharati standard).
    4000 adjectives
    250 pure adverbs;
    most adverbs are derived from nouns or adjectives.
    compared to
    Japanese : 3000 words (noun-verbs-adj-adv) / JLPT N3 level for daily conversation and simple opinions, 7000 words / JLPT N1 in order to be close to native speakers
    Chinese : 2500 words / Hsk-5, version 2010 for daily conversation and simple opinions, 5000 words / Hsk-6, to understand most media : news, drama, talkshows, etc.
    as for European languages, it takes 4000 - 6000 to reach B2 - C1 level which is satisfactory .
    Sanskrit is very difficult indeed ....

      @@ayi3455 Again, no. There are 22 (or 23) "national languages" of India, including Sanskrit. However, the Indian Union recognizes two "official" administrative languages, these being Hindi and English. So when you say India doesn't have NATIONAL language, it does not have one national language (correct!), rather it has 22. There are NOT 22 official languages, only 2 (these 2 for the political, administrative UNION, ie the union/federal state).
