    Thanks for the vedio..
    I need your support my friend
    I have e38 bmw 740i 2001.. getting code IKE: voltage supple, terminal 15, fault
    It is running ok and i am driving it daily..
    after warming or driving it will shake little, means not engine stable and a v. black smoke comes after driving but sometimes it stops smook.

    • @funcarsgoodpeople
      @funcarsgoodpeople  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello Abdul, the IKE means "Integrated Electronic Control Unit" and it is actually the instrument cluster right in front of the driver. There are three power supplies to the IKE; terminal R, terminal 30 and terminal 15.
      Terminal 30 supplies IKE constantly. When you turn the car on, terminal R tells the IKE to light up. And terminal 15 tells the IKE the key is in ignition position or the engine is running. So if terminal 15 is faulty for IKE, it doesn't affect the driving. And you can drive the car as usual.
      If you want to fix this code, please check the wiring harness behind the IKE. And I think the engine shaking and smoke are other problems. Do you see other fault codes? You are welcome to send it to me!

      @@funcarsgoodpeople highly appreciated.. your comment is so informative and specific..
      The shaking and smoke resolved, it was vacuum hose blocked, and oxygen sensors bank 1 and 2 not working..
      I replaced all of that and it is working v smooth.. engine light gone..
      Now The power supply terminal 15 is pending, i will work on it this weekend and Keep you informed about what i might find over there..
      Thank you again my friend

      That's good news! I'm happy for you!
      My bad to forget to mention in last reply; the three fuses for the IKE are:
      Terminla R - Fuse 43 (5A),
      Terminal 30 - Fuse 26 (5A) and
      Terminal 15 - Fuse 18 (5A)
      You can send me your VIN to funcarsgoodpeople@gmail.com and I can send you related information about the IKE, e.g. the wiring diagram and connector pin assignment table, to you.
      I believe you are a professional faultbuster and that code will be cleared soon :) Cheers!

    • @funcarsgoodpeople
      @funcarsgoodpeople  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi @edenadamstory, practically the controlling units (CAS, DME and starter motor) take power from 15/15N independently, via not only one fuse. e.g. Some CAS has two fuses on terminal 15.
      Which BMW model are you working on? Send me an email via funcarsgoodpeople@gmail.com I'll look it up for you :)

      Hello It B sorry for the late reply.
      There's no CEL so you can be less worried about the codes. However as a Faultbuster, let's don't ignore any of the fualt codes, shall we ;)
      I use bmwfault.codes/ and ISTA to look up the codes. The former can help quick understand the code contents. Here 2DC3 (for the DME version msd80) corresponds to "Valvetronic servomotor, activation: Line disconnection." The description says there should be CEL. So I guess this was a transient fault caused by voltage drop duing engine crank.
      And the code 2E8D corresponds to "DME: Intelligent battery sensor, signal transmission" which seems to relate to a bad intelligent battery sensor. The E-series easily have electrical fault codes due to voltage fluctuation. Does these codes come back after clearing the fualt memories?

    Hi I hope you can please help me out. I’m getting these error codes on my 2012 e70 X5;
    9CBD, 9CBC, 9CAB, 9CDB, 9CDA, 9CAA, 9CB5.
    I changed my FRM and had it programmed to the vehicle VIN. Which helped restore a lot of things but now I have a lot of lighting malfunctions that I don’t know how to fix.
    I didn’t see any short circuits with protool, I also checked the fuses for the lighting and those looked good too. I made sure the battery was properly registered as well so idk what’s next?!
    Please help!!!

      Hello Ardit, I looked these codes up and they can be related to the FRM, LM(light module, but E70 may not have this) or IHKA(air con module.) I am just curious that are these codes solely related the FRM or are they coming from other systems?
      e.g.
      9CBD FRM (frm_70): short circuit at rear door contacts
      9CBD FRM (frm_87): Communication with step motor controller on the left disrupted
      9CBD IHKA: Independent heating, switchover valve
      9CBD LM: Battery exhaustive-discharge protection: deactivation, side light
      Could you please let me know your ECU variant (frm_70 or frm_87?) to help me decide which code to study?

      @arditadili6936 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@funcarsgoodpeople Hi there! Thank you for getting back to my comment!
      I have FRM_70 and I wanted to clarify all the codes some other ones that might be connected to the FRM. I know I listed the 9CB5, 9CDB, 9CDA, 9CAA, 9CBD, 9CBC & 9CAB. Just wanted to add my comfort access doesn't work on the driver side front and rear door handles on the left but the right side of the vehicle works as well as the push start option working too. The power windows don't go up for both the front driver and passenger but the rear do as well as the control of the mirror and closing of them.
      I also got these code from the DME/DDE.... 3847: LIN/BSD, message; alternator: missing & 387F: Power management: Standby current violation.
      For the DSC (DXC_70) it got code 6EC9 saying: Interface FRM (status, door sensors): signal invalid.
      For the EGS the code 5125: Signal (door contact, 0x2FC) invalid, transmitter CAS.
      There's also two codes for the KLIMA2 (FKA_70) A1F1: Footwell-temperature sensor, right & A1ED: Seat heating, rear right (but I'm pretty sure I don't have rear seating).Also the JBBF (JBBF70) has codes A72E & A6D2 (both are in regards to the water valves for the driver and passenger sides, respectively)
      Yet I don't believe these codes have anything to do with the battery and FRM_70 issues, but I could be wrong.
      My plan of action are to change the belt tensioner because I've seen that moving a bit too much, along with the belt. That way that can solve the alternator message, because I'm pretty sure the alternator is in working order. On top of that I was thinking maybe the negative battery cable with the IBS sensor needs to be swapped out cause maybe that's giving those weird issues with the different terminals & battery discharge. I already changed the relay for terminal 15 but that didn't seem to do anything. Hopefully I've provided you enough information to help me get her running properly.

    Hi there
    Very informative video.
    I’m getting the following error after trying to jump start my e90 2011 when battery was very low about 7V, the car almost started but then suddenly the cranking voice changed and car don’t fire up.
    4C18
    - Message (terminal 15, 0×130)
    _ Permanent
    It cranks but no start.
    Can you Please share any ideas as to where should I start for errors. Is it a bad relay or a wire I’m looking for?
    Thanks.

    • @funcarsgoodpeople
      @funcarsgoodpeople  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello N Ta thank you for the comment! I think the main problem is that the battery voltage is too low. When the starter motor drains most of the electrical power, the car communication system malfunctions and aborts the start procedure.
      I checked the 4C18 code in ISTA and found:
      ==
      The CAS control unit controls the terminal status. The CAS control unit transmits the terminal status as a CAN message on the CAN data wire. The CAS control unit uses a separate pin to transmit a wake-up signal (terminal 15 wake-up) to the DME control unit.
      ==
      Fault description: The fault code is logged when the TERMINAL STATUS message is not received.
      Condition for fault identification:
      The following preconditions must be fulfilled:
      - The message must be active.
      - Terminal 15 must be active.
      The signals are sent cyclically every 100 ms.
      The fault is checked at 20 ms intervals.
      Control unit voltage: 9.5 V to 16 V.
      Condition for fault memory entry: The fault is entered if it is present for longer than the following period (debounce time): 550 ms
      Action in service: - Carry out CAN/FlexRay bus system analysis.
      ==
      In short, the CAS car access system activates the starter motor and send wakeup signal to the DME engine control unit to fire up the engine. So when DME gets no signal from CAS, due to power loss, the DME logs 4C18.
      But don't worry I don't think this is a hard problem. I suggest replacing a new, fully charged battery for the next start 🤗

      Hi
      Thanks for replying. Really appreciate.
      I’ve found the battery drain source, it was a tin oil drain container left right under the starter housing which somehow connected the earth body and hence drainage.
      I’ve already got the battery out of car and let it charge for 3 days. It charged fully, but same result.
      First I thought that cas and ews need sync like my other e90 use to be so I connected INPA 5.02 and got the following error;
      A10A EWS4 Timing_Chall Resp Error
      And under F6 active options I’m getting the following error message;
      Initiate start value sync. with motor ECU
      Operation due to EWS version not available!
      EWS version
      EWS 4 Secret Key
      4
      Locked
      Also when I connected the battery, at first the car stated thoughing random faults. But after clearing, they don’t reappear. It happened three times.
      Could it be my JB got messed up?
      Any suggestions sir?
      Thanks a lot

      Hi N Ta I have another guess, that the CAN link to your ECU (DME for gasoline or DDE for diesel) may be broken so it cannot receive start message from the CAS. If you need the pin assignment of the ECU connectors to check CAN linkage, I can look up in ISTA for you. Please kindly send me your VIN to funcarsgoodpeople@gmail.com !

    • @funcarsgoodpeople
      @funcarsgoodpeople  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Gatiyo yes the relay I01139 is responsible for the power supply on terminal 30g_f. If there are faults in electrical system, terminal 30g_f will shut down so many stuff including the radio won't have power. So please scan for the fault codes about electrical system. Perhaps after clearing other faults, terminal 30g_f can be recovered!

      Hello TY, I looked this code up and it implies the disconnection between the CAS and DME module. This code is due to "Terminal 15 Sense Circuit Low" and its description says check the wiring harness between CAS and DME. However I think that probability is low.
      I would check the battery first. The power management system will disable the starter motor when the battery energy is below certain threshold (to avoid over-draining the battery.) Many BMWs have such low voltage syndromes so I always suggest to have a fully charged, healthy battery as the first step :)

      Hi Keley, an issue similar to yours had been discussed in a previous comment with David (please browse above.) The fault code 8040B9 indicates the car battery is low so the power management system disabled the starter to prevent over-draining the battery.
      Your battery may be low due to some reasons, or the IBS intelligent battery sensor may be faulty that it couldn't measure the battery health correctly. The former case is very common.
      If you take out the car battery and fully charge it, remember to register the IBS again(with diagnostic tools), telling the car you have a new/healthy battery. Otherwise the power management system still thinks the battery is low and disables starter.
      Another code 8040A9 just reminds the user to press the button carefully :D

    8041F0: headlight driver module(tms) right: coding error
    D90D2F: headlight driver module (tms) left: missing LIN slave

      @funcarsgoodpeople  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi VK, I checked the wiring diagram/fuse map of the FEM(A173 Front Electronic Module) of 2015 BMW F82 and found that the fault code 804094 should be:
      804094 Voltage supply, terminal 30F Fuse F11 defective
      (Same code may have different meaning on different version of control modules)
      The FEM is located at the bottom of the right A pillar. There are 14 fuse slots on it. Fuse 11 connects to the driver side headlight and Rear Electronic Module (are the rear lights working properly?) So please check if the fuse has blown.
      By the way, KL30F is a built-in relay inside the FEM. I hope it's not broken otherwise the whole FEM has to be replaced and that's gonna be a sad story.
      For the other two codes, coding error may due to aftermarket lights. You can turn off the cold/hot monitoring of the headlight by coding the FEM (please be careful with coding works!) and that code should stop coming.
      Missing LIN slave is becasue of the headlight has no power (Fuse 11 blown.)
      I could be wrong. You are very welcome to let me know the results. Best luck!

      Hi Chris sorry for the late reply. I guess the battery is low recently. Please make sure the car is put to sleep (locked, no keys in the car or nearby) while parking. So it won’t slowly drain the battery overnight. And if you have time, drive the car on highway for at least 30 minutes to charge the battery.
      The car has a lot of electric modules and is sensitive to voltage fluctuation. A lot of fault codes are triggered by the temporary battery drain (e.g. misfire.) So keeping a full battery is also a key for troubleshooting. Good luck!

      My guess is that the terminal 15 wake-up line from CAS to the DDE has some connection problem, probably short-circuit to ground, as indicated by the fault codes.
      The DDE receives this wake-up power from CAS when the start/stop button is pressed (ignition on.) If this connection is faulty, the car wouldn't start. I am guessing you have a six-cylinder diesel bimmer according to the codes above. What is your car model and exact symptoms?

      Hello Mateya, terminal 30B is the naming of 30G for BMW F generation and so on. I have checked the documents of E90 and E60 and I don't think this is for the 2008 E60 M5.
      9CAA is a code for the LM light module. The LM is supplied by two 12V power sources on Terminal 30. I suppose the two sources are named 30A and 30B and now the 30B is faulty. 2.89V is not normal for any terminals (except term. 31.) where they should have 12V.
      So please check pin 9 and pin 47 of the connector X12 on LM, if they have 12V. The corresponding fuses are F5 and F6. Please also check their voltage.

      In addition, the two 12V power come out from fuse panel A41a via connectors X11001 and X11002, respectively. They are on pin 1 of each connector.
      Do you find the wiring harness broken?

      Hi David, I've got your mail. Don't worry about paying because I'm not running a shop. DIY should be free! Will get back to you soon!

      The codes 93076A and 93076B means the car detects a very low battery so it cuts power supply on terminal 15N and terminal 30B. Terminal 15N is for the engine electronics and 30B is for some other electrical consumers on the car. The car is doing this to protect the battery.
      I read some of the function descriptions FUB about #IBS #intelligentbatterysensor and I understand that your IBS is likely thinking the battery is very low (below the #startabilitylimit ) so it tells the CAS to disable terminal 15N that is supplying power for starting the car.
      I have no experience about this but my suggestion would be "registering the fully charged battery" to tell the IBS you have a new, healthy battery. After this, the IBS will allow the car to use terminal 15. So this should be the reason why engine start is not possible after the battery was completely drained.
