    What a beautiful and elegant boat, a classic design that would have been stunning 30 years ago and will still be stunning in 50 years. This boat will never go out of style.

    Captain Steve, Well done! 30 years in the commercial fishing industry... now retired, I'm considering getting back on the water, but for different reasons! I enjoy your walk throughs and straight up descriptions of the equipment onboard! Elaborations on what stands out, but usually, to the point and keeping what you have to show us moving in a manner easy to follow! Thanks!

    Captain Steve, I appreciate your thorough reviews and having the 2 separate videos on each boat.
    .. I'm stuck in East Texas (inland) with family duties to my now adult autistic sons (who I'm sure would LOVE the ocean breezes when we finally have the chance). .. The oldest has a favorite boat, a PT boat, lol. But the youngest has already given his approval to a nice, long Fleming. 😊
    .. I love the Portuguese bridge and the nice, classic limousine-like profile of a Fleming. And a flying bridge on any boat gives more outdoor space for when a person needs a little "elbow-room" away from other family members.

      This boat can barely cross a river and would never cross an ocean. It has NO LEGS. 1700 gallons, maybe 1700 knots. There are no fuel docks in the middle of the Atlantic or the Pacific. It's just an over hyped plastic boat.

    Flemmings are very popular down here in Australia. Up and down the coast and off to NZ, Fiji and beyond without any worries. Too bad I can't afford a RR of the sea, maybe a used 55 one day... Nice video Capt Steve.

    Captain Steve I would like to congratulate you on the best boat descriptive video I've ever seen. From the information given I could go and buy the yacht with out a visit, but of course I would visit first.
    Your comment about drainage of the chain wash position was great and to the point, though I would have the scurvy crew aim the wash hose to catch the chain as it breaks water. But I do realize that good scurvy crew might be hard to find in some parts of the world.
    I have seen a few of your other video but put this one right up there on top, thanks for that.
    Safe sailing.

    As a recently retired newbie in the UK that has just taken his 'Day Skipper' exams, i have been evaluating the type of boat i would settle on. From 'Gin Palaces', to 'Trawlers', if have done them all. From 35ft, to 70ft. We have now settled on the fact that we are slow cruiser kind of people and have settled on the Fleming. This video was a significant factor when deciding the sort of boat we are looking for, so thanks Capt'n Steve, you probably don't know how influential your reviews are.

      Low center of gravity has consequences for what the ER headroom numbers but monitoring the Fleming way does not need you to proceed to the ER when not necessary ! To me at sea, when the weather is bad, the lower the center of gravity, the better it is !

    flemming makes a geat yacht very good looking and handles the ocean well... i have watchted the videos made by tony flemming and what he put venture through... the first 65.. i really like the helm seat for two.. which is where the wife and i would be sitting together.. most pilot house boats have either one or two seperate seats and for a couples boat i would want to be able to sit with the admiral closer i really like to have the circuit breakers up in the piolt house and not in the passage way and the wood work is just fabulous a very well made bridge the side decks are very spacious for walking around but i wonder if maybe an options for triming them down abit or going asymetraical to mabybe 24 and 18 would open up a little more space inside .. also the cleats are nice and big and strong looking but could they be receased in a bit to limit their profile? the spacious over hang is really nice and im sure that expands the flybridge quite a bit..the engine room is packed with stuff for sure not sure how excessable it all is .. the cross over pipe on the floor looks like an inventation to stubb a toe .. maybe a smalll ramp would be an idea...the wood tool box is very nice but do we really want someting flamable in the engine room.. one place i would want metal ..love the double seat on the fly brige and the rope work on the destroyer wheel is classic.. i would want a knot of some kind to help with identifying the home or centerline to help with stering when going from lock to lock..as usuall capt steve does a very well made presentiation.. lots of info

    Capt. Steve, when my uncle bought his 34' PDQ power cat, the manufacturer afforded new owners the opportunity to attend PDQ University for a week to learn all aspects of owning and operating such a yacht. For new owners who really want to understand their yachts, does Fleming offer such a program? Such a gorgeous and well thought out yacht here. And the attention and thought of the details........ Thanks.

  • @stefanknorsch

    Thanks for this video. And what a great yacht. Redundant systems and seaworthiness at its best! The only thing I doubt is the choice of engines. These MAN, as also similar engines from other brands require to run at rpm’s where the turbos are engaged. Low speed with low engine refs will lead to turbo damages. So nice engines for short distance cruising, but long-distance passage making will kill the turbos. For this smaller engines would be better.

    Amazing detail on Fleming yachts, the only modification needed is a sturdy stainless steel grab rails running the full length from the stern and along the side bulwarks to the step-up with fishing rod holders spaced out and maxed out at the stern. This will also improve passenger safety under inclement conditions.

    I love boats... all boats and I don't care what anybody says... the Fleming is the most beautiful boat made anywhere in the world. The billionaires can keep their ocean liners... I'd only have one of those so I could sell it, buy a Fleming and keep the change.
    Watch Tony Fleming's videos on TH-cam of passage making around the Aleutian Islands, Canada, Alaska, the Panama canal, east coast loop of US, talk about the perfect life... just a bit cold :)
    My dream? Circumnavigate Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific islands in a Fleming 65.

    Nice boat. Problem is: I have a 30 foot cruiser with twin diesels. I'm really crazy about maintenance detais. Can't see any signal of rust or nothing out of order. And it's really hard to take care of my small boat and keep all systems working well! And it demands probably less than 1% of the maintenaince work of a boat like this Fleming. So big and complex. Even not considering costs, it's hard to imagine how dificult is to keep all perfect and clean!

    This is a superb yacht, truly one of the best in the world.
    I think the music mix behind you can get a little loud, it should be barely detectable. I had to fully abandon an earlier video of yours on a Hamilton yacht because the folk guitar music was twice as loud as you, and that was a shame because I was enjoying the look of the yacht and I love your tours. Background music, yes. Nightclub level blaring, no - please.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply, happy boating.

    Someone once commented on all of the automation / computer power on these Fleming boats and their centralized nature, and suggested that a lightning strike was more of a "when" as opposed to an "if" situation, especially considering the fact that boats spend so much of their time on the water, with an associated increased risk of storms. The person also expressed that in case of a lightning strike it would basically be a matter of "poof", and all that computing power would be gone!! How much backup is provided by Fleming by way of conventional / mechanical systems in a worst case scenario?

    • @billbresnahan9949
      @billbresnahan9949 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Flemming 65's are incredible but I just have one worry and maybe I'm missing something obvious.. Is the only way to get into the engine and power rooms is by going through that small hatch on the rear cockpit into the lazarette ? I'm thinking of being out in heavy seas with waves crashing into that cockpit and trying to get through that opening into the lazarette then engine room without a lot of water coming in with me... Maybe I'm over thinking it. I've watched all the Flemming videos and see Venture in rough seas but I've never seen how well the cockpit drains. It's still a magnificent yacht ..

    • @aldodean9406
      @aldodean9406 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@billbresnahan9949 I agree. I have been stuck on Fleming as the ONE yacht for passagemaking, single-handed docking, two-handed (couple) cruising, capabilities and redundancies, and Tony Fleming's attention to detail. A stand-up, walk-around engine room, which is a feature of the Fleming 58, is, sadly, not a feature of the 65. I have been looking at Hampton Yachts Endurance boats, and one can access the engine room from inside the boat or from the lazarette, which is such a bonus and way better for the good old lower back as we advance in our own timeline. Added bonus: it's walk-around and stand-up. I do not know, however, whether the Endurance is a passagemaking, ocean-going vessel, and I am waiting to hear their response to my inquiry. I think Captain Steve's boat reviews are the best ones online.

      @@billbresnahan9949 I Just have say that if you had to get into the engine room with all those redundant systems in rough seas it would be because you were dead in the water...well just kiss your butt good bye 'cause your going to die anyway regardless of whether you get in to the engine room or not. Over thought? Seems so to me.

    What extent of mechanical/engineering knowledge do you think is required to passage make on a yacht such as this. I have none so would it be wise to employ an engineer on say a trans Atlantic crossing? Great review and beautiful yacht.

      From what I can see, reading comprehension is all that's required. That system on center display at the helm covers everything!

      Fleming efit* should have all the data to help less knowledgeable operators resolve any problems.

      An engineer is neither necessary nor required. We just did a technical video showing the redundant systems so when one fails, there’s backups. That said, the more hands on you are the better equipped you’ll be. - Capt. Steve.

    Correct me if I'm wrong: But this review hasn't shown ONE INCH of the inside ... galley salon, cabins, heads ... I guess there's none of all that on this "ocean going vessel" ...?

    • @BoatTEST
      @BoatTEST  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry we don't mention prices because most dealers have their own price. If you go on our website and go to the model you can get a price quote from a dealer boattest.com/boat/fleming-yachts/65-2020

      Also, we forgot to ask Fleming is essentially custom built boats. They only manufacturer so many a year.

    How would I get this yacht into the Great Lakes? Mississippi River?

    • @BoatTEST
      @BoatTEST  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ways-1) Up the Mississippi to rivers that go to Chicago; 2) Up the Hudson through the Erie Canal to Lake Ontario; 3) Through the mouth of the St. Lawrence River.

      @@BoatTEST Yes!!! I wish they had boat lifts/portages for up to these size boats to followed along the "Voyageur's Route" from Lake Superior to Lake of the Woods or even to Lake Winnepg and Lake Winnipegosis and out the Hudson Bay. That would be a nice ride/experience through the woodland lakes and rivers of the central Canadian interior.

    You should include the price

    • @BoatTEST
      @BoatTEST  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this is a question we get asked Fleming is practically custom made...so we can't put a price. There are only certain brands and model boats that have an MSRP. People are surprised but its not like cars where they build thousands of the same model and product. Hope that helps a little. If you visit boattest.com and sign up you can have access to getting price quotes.

    Curious, has there been a BoatTEST review that gave a boat a bad score? It almost feels like every video is trying to sell that particular boat.

    Is that an Australian flag on the stern?

  • @MrCobb-rq8iv
    @MrCobb-rq8iv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    All good, 65 is plenty big. My two comments are: the top ladder is backwards and should face the stern; I personally don't like the 1955 cab. The windscreen must be a nightmare in frost and freezing snow in contrast to a true pilot house. Just me.
