Hey everyone! I recognize that the link to get the IR pack was broken. I've been in contact with the owner, and I have updated the link in the video description to get the IR pack. It is a Google drive link so please click that to get your free IR pack to sound like Zakk Wylde!
The rack chorus with the spread is absolutely mind blowing on the Petrucci plug-in. One of the Best chorus I have ever heard. I double track in Reaper and have not figured out a way to get that type of result yet. I can't use the Petrucci in reaper because I'm on stand alone trial version. I'm trying to replicate it though.
@@psychwardfpv4353 agreed! It's been my go to amp plugin since it came out. You can put the trial version in the DAW, you just have to install the VST/VST3 into your plugin folder then scan for it
I love that his rigs have been so consistent for the past…goddamn…40 years?! JCM800, Lee Jackson Modded GP-1000 and then Lee Jackson Metaltronix, but an 800 is perfectly fine, or as he says “any Marshall will work”. Then an SD1, Chorus, Phaser and Wah, all into the front of the amp. lol. Then speakers were T75s and V30s and then now his BL speakers. So cool. Also, apologies for not relaying the website is down (had zero idea you were even making this video!), but I’m glad you were able to update the link. 🤘🏼
Anything with an emg 85 in the neck will do. Its such a thick and unique sound it doesnt really matter the body material. I easily got zakk wylde sound with a ltd m10 thats just a basswood body. And zakks biggest tip to sound like him is to pick EVERYTHING.
EMG 81 in the bridge as well! But as I found with demoing other guitars through this setup, the plugin and IRs are doing the bulk of the work. Same as the amp and moreso the cabinet in a traditional context.
On NRFTW, a few songs are Metaltronix, but most are a JCM800 combo. You can dive deep online. The Metaltronix stuff was not really great. They actually scrapped some of those tracks and re-recorded them with Marshalls. Zack’s best tones in my opinion are JCM800, SD-1, and the OLDER G12T75s. Oh, the Marshall was modified by a company that no longer exists. Again, you can deep dive on the web.
That tone is on point great job! You should find a free plug-in as an alternative to the Petrucci for people on a tight budget that might not be able to afford that plug-in as it is one of Neurals more expensive ones. If you can recreate that exact tone you got with a free plug-in I'm sure that video would do very well. I have seen videos of people do this before but non have come close to the tone you just got. It's one of the best I have ever heard. The question now is do I pay my phone bill or get this plug-in? Lol
@@EricMorettin first result on Google for "authentic reaper" I'm in no way affiliated, I found it by chance. Quite a few people in the bodom gear thread recommend it too
@EricMorettin First result when you Google "authentic reaper." As with everyone, most of the tone is in the technique, but even a mediocre guitarist like me can sound very close to Alexi 😂

Zack’s tone was amazing, truly the sound of metal
Still sounds great so many years later
The portion where you played Pantera was sweet. Such a thick brutal tone.

@Durkhead sorry I should of specified for leads. But ya I could still hit them with the bridge pickup.
Good thing the wood doesn't affect tone

Too much distortion.. corny 80s chorus.. what did I miss?
Zakk wylde literally used an 80s chorus ffs and tons of gain...I think you missed a lot somewhere along the line
might as well be one of the worst guitar shapes i ve ever seen
