Great idea and a much more interesting way to practice. I have stacks of jazz books full of eighth note lines but they never strike me as being very melodic. Where I live I doubt I will get to jam outside my practice room but melodic ideas are what interest me rather than just running the changes
Could you do a video about getting creative with scales. People usually know their scales, but don’t know how to used them in a creative manner. Thanks!!! The videos are great!
Eduardo Díez Yup! Was thinking to do that soon. It kind of starts to touch on the whole “how to construct lines” subject. Like you said - “Ok, I know what scale to use over this chord. BUT NOW WHAT?”... Very good subject, thank you for suggesting it!
Thankyou Ruslan for that clarity. Was just trying to find something to help me teach a student to get some rhythmic variety and syncopation into her playing and you’ve really helped!
Kevin Perros hey Kevin, I make these little silly tracks on my laptop, just so that I can demonstrate the principles I’m teaching. Look up Jamey Abersold play-alongs. Every jazz song you need to know and more is in one of the very many Abesrold play along products.
You make those tracks with a keyboard I think, because the bass/drum have a quite fine accentuation... Actually they are better than Aebersold play alongs...
JulianFernandez thank you my friend. Yea the very last video I did on this channel - I filmed myself playing the examples on video. In this video and others it’s sill me playing the examples, you just can’t see me 😅. If there are any topics you would like me to address in future videos - please tell me which ones! This is a new channel and I’m curious how I can be of service to the community! Thanks for subscribing man!

Harder than it looks but sounds very cool
Hello Ruslan, thank you so much for your lessons. I have a technical question: can I find somewhere the backing tracks you are soloing on ?

Oh thank u. yes I do make them with a keyboard. But damn, Abersolds are Real (famous) people playing.. 😳
I think you can use Band in a Box to do this type of backing track.
Subscribed! Maybe next time record yourself while playing those examples? Cheers!
