Awesome Review! The Idiot was my first Dosteyevski novel and also one of the first classics I read. When Dosteyvsky talked about that execution scene it felt so vivid and real, I had too google if Dosteyvsky experienced something like this himself and thats how I found out. I really enjoyed this book and prins Myshkin! forsure also want to reread it and delve deeper into Dosteyvsky works and I still have demons to lookforward to for a first time read!
I like the cast of characters overall in this novel than some of his others. You could argue it’s his greatest novel although it’s probably #2 or #3 for me
Great review! I also loved this book. One thing that I did not hear you say, is that this book is funny as it is tragic. FD had a great sense of humor.
Love your review! I just finished the idiot and it is totally one of the best books I’ve ever read, but I don’t know anybody who’s also read Dostoevsky yet. Your video really feels like talking to a friend. You’ve got so much passion! It’s so inspiring to me to read even more :)
Glad I could be a companion and share in your excitement about the book! I'd recommend checking out White Nights and other short stories from Dostoevsky along with his popular novels
@@TheActiveMind1 thank you, I’ve already read white nights - I really loved it. Next one will be steppenwolf from Hesse and then crime and punishment. :) I just found your channel, so if you don’t know Viktor Frankl yet I can highly recommend you his books „man’s search for meaning“ and „yes to life“. You might like them!

I read The Idiot sometime in the last year. I had put it off for a long time for some reason. I loved it.
Your take on this book is spot on.

Very true! Lots of humorous moments and comically tragic scenes

I just read Demons a few weeks ago. The Idiot is the last of Dostoyevsky's major works that I have to read. Glad to hear your thoughts on it. :)
Starting with Demons is a feat. Lol.
The Idiot is a great work.
Haha yeah...it was tough. I plan to re-read Demons next year!
@@TheActiveMind1 I had to put it down at 300 pages and try again. The second time I was dialed in. It very slowly unfolds.
HOW ON EARTH DOES THIS VIDEO HAVE SO FEW VIEWS.
The Idiot is my favourite book by Dostoievsky
Currently reading the brothers karamazov, my first Dostoyevsky read. Interesting about the painting I never knew about that
The Brothers Karamazov is likely my favorite of his popular 4 novels!
I have yet to start reading Dostoevsky, I have started reading Gorky and thus far liking very much
Now's your time to dig into Dostoevsky!
