To get Dime’s tone, you’ll want a solid state Randall Half stack, and a dean guitar with a Bill Lawrence L500XL bridge pickup, and a Seymour Duncan Neck pickup. “Scoop” or zero the mid range, then adjust bass and treble to match as best you can. He also used a multitude of pedals as filters/bolsters for his tone, so you can only get SO close without exactly replicating his setup.
I picked up his signature wah pedal, the Dunlop Crybaby From Hell, and it’s got almost infinite customization to the depth, sweep, etc. and I read an interview once where he said he sometimes used his wah as a “gate” of sorts to get a specific tone by leaving the foot pedal in just the right spot with the wah activated.
If you don’t yet know how to make your guitar “scream” like he does with just his tremolo and harmonics, such as in Cemetery Gates, and want to know, PM me and I can help!

There is an assload of people searching for Dimebags tone, and it is something quite hard to find. From all of the videos and things ive read and seen, there is a computer program, called "Amplitude" and there is a Dimebag package on there. It was developed with Dimebags guitar tech, Grady Champion. That is the best/closest thing to Dimes tone Ive seen.

I agree and do not buy the "Dimebag" pedals. On their own they do not come close. It takes more than a pedal to capture his tone. Dime used a lot of vintage pedals, tricks, and all around know how; Dime's cry baby from hell is an excellent wha pedal though!

    • @ErinMercurial
      @ErinMercurial 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@SUBtRONiX213 Exactly, the distortion pedal isnt what does it. Its the many EQs, noise gates, pickup, strings, AMP and combinations that make it all sound like DIME. And even so it will never sound like the album in your own home. It will always be just a let down and constant tinkering of parameters. I shared this link so he at least has the exact list of gear DIME used. www.groundguitar.com/dimebag-darrell-gear/

Before Phil joined they were a glam band believe it or not! They kept the sound with Phil but their dress changed and shortly after CFH came out which was the outro to the glam stage. From there on they became a full metal band. CFH was a great mix of styles I think, which to me makes that particular record so good.

Bullshit , the music is Speed heavy british even in the first 3 albums there re kind of Def leppard melodic elements but thats 3 songs on the records
The rest is really Nwobhm , speed stuff . The thrash influence growing since Project album
Glam label is A fucking urban myth that need to stop
Well , they wore Big hair and tight pants , but back then 80% of metal bands looked like that .
But you can't Lump Pantera Out of blood, Project in jungle , Killers , Iam the night , Vallalah ,Right on the edge ....on Glam bands records that people reffer to.
People repeat or have no suffisant Culture of 70's / early 80's metal roots to talk about this.
Sorry but this need to fucking stop
A perm don't define your music as glam
Slayer had spandex and eye liner in 1982 , Overkill was like a wasted Cross between Alice cooper and Ny dolls in 1982 , morbid angel and Quorthon had fucking Hairdos in mid 80's .
So what ? Do you talk about glam era of that band ?
      No .
People have some fail memory .
And Power metal album isnt glam at all either .

Jammin' some long improv stuff, up on stage with his eyes closed, and watching his fingers move on the fretboard and just thinking, WOW, that's God speaking through that man's body. On Dimebag's sound. He used a Randall solid-state amp with very few effects and a Dean guitar on this track. The pick-ups are Seymour Duncans, a SH-1 59' in the neck and his signature monster SH13 Dimebucker in the bridge. Assuming your amp settings are 1-10; you can get close to his 'scooped' sound with a setup of: Gain 9, Bass 8.5, Middle 2, Treble 10. Dean guitars sell a 'Razorback' model which is a commemorative Dimebag piece with all of his typical specifications. Hope that helps :)

get an EQ for the loop and scoop the mids and boost the front with a tube screamer or whatever you can get. he used solid state Randall amps with a few EQs and boosts both in the front and the back end of his amps. there's a lot online about the gear he used

There is a Dime distortion but it doesn't really sound that good especially for getting a dimebag tone. Theres two easy solutions for getting the tone. 1st Theres a plugin by amplitude that gets you really close. 2nd the horizon device apex preamp. Plus you need a dimebucker or Bill Lawrence l500xl pickup

Dime used old Randall solid state heads with Eqs i believe 2 of them one like an overall boost and then one to shape the tone. He used Bill Lawrence pickup Xl500 .

Ther MXR Dime Distortion Pedal. But he always said the key to his sound was the blue MXR six band EQ pedal.
Phil had his Rob Halford thing going but he also was influenced by a New Orleans singer named, Kyle Thomas who played in a band called Exhorder. Check ‘em out if you wanna hear early New Orleans’ thrash and a band that was pretty influential.

Speaking of underrated, Rex is probably the most underrated bassist of all time. When you sit and just listen to his bass parts they are unreal.

6:10 Dime played thru a Randall solid-state amplifier for his signature tone.
99.9% of guitarists use tube amplifiers, not solid state.

There are archives upon archives of information and footage of Dime on Guitar World magazine but the crazy thing is the people that thought Dime’s tone was shit back in the day. I love it!

They have a digital plug in for what Dimes tone was for the CFH album. It was made by Dimes guitar tech Grady Champion

Got to go to Ola Englund's channel,no guitar player I've seen has researched & shared Dimebag's tone as much as him. And no one gets the tone with solid state amps that Dime did! Peace brother, keep chuggin'!
