The "barbie-cue" joke brought back memories. When I was a kid I left a barbie sitting on my lamp. I left the room with the light on for a couple hours and then my dad noticed a burning smell. We found the barbie with her butt completely charred off. I got in trouble for almost setting my house on fire, but ever since then I affectionately refer to the incident as the barbie-cue.

My Mom didn't think her hair would hold a curl either because it's pin straight. After I showed her how to curl her hair using this "trick", it holds so much better. It's the reason hot rollers work so well.

I suspect it was put up before her Grandmother passed and now it has been left up as a memorial to the great memories associated with Grandma and Christmas.... And that would mean her Grandmother passed around Christmas, a very sentimental time now made very sad. My aunt passed away suddenly two days after Christmas. She was my favorite relative. She just understood me better than anyone. Christmas is always going to remind me of our wonderful memories together and of the horrible memories of losing her. Looking at it another way. It could mean that he’s disappointed that he’s at a stage in his life and our society that he DOES understand what she’s doing 😂
What I got from it was that he was disapointed in the culture of women trying to look like barbie. But I think if he ever watched Micarahs videos hed see how much of an odd individual she is and her love of christmas barbie dresses and barbie in general just doesnt have the negative impact he thinks it does on all girls (and women). She is definitely unique, and grows more confident in her uniqueness. It balances out with that sort of diversity, you can indulge in the mainstream ideals of beauty with a lot less negative impact on your identity and self confidence.

A friend and I were going to be clowns for customer appreciation day where she worked. We were trying on our outfits and practicing our makeup when we realized we needed something. So we ran to Kmart. Literally. Dressed as clowns. Children screamed and cried. That was sort of my last “venture out as you are” day. Seriously, a mother brought her crying son to the makeup section to show him we weren’t scary. He cried harder. That was about 15 years ago. Looking at it another way. It could mean that he’s disappointed that he’s at a stage in his life and our society that he DOES understand what she’s doing 😂
What I got from it was that he was disapointed in the culture of women trying to look like barbie. But I think if he ever watched Micarahs videos hed see how much of an odd individual she is and her love of christmas barbie dresses and barbie in general just doesnt have the negative impact he thinks it does on all girls (and women). She is definitely unique, and grows more confident in her uniqueness. It balances out with that sort of diversity, you can indulge in the mainstream ideals of beauty with a lot less negative impact on your identity and self confidence.

A friend and I were going to be clowns for customer appreciation day where she worked. We were trying on our outfits and practicing our makeup when we realized we needed something. So we ran to Kmart. Literally. Dressed as clowns. Children screamed and cried. That was sort of my last “venture out as you are” day. Seriously, a mother brought her crying son to the makeup section to show him we weren’t scary. He cried harder. That was about 15 years ago. I am assuming he’s now a college student who takes advantage of the free therapy program on campus due to recurring nightmares.
