    Having grown up in LA, public transportation is for people who can't afford cars. There is very little money invested in public transportation. I haven't ever taken public transportation in the decades I've lived in LA.

      I know public transit in LA has a bad reputation. But I found it quite useful. I took it everywhere, including LAX. I just wish the LAX metro station was actually at the airport!

    The word "hangar" is pronounced "HANG-er" or "HANG-ur" Your pronunciation is great as always. I usually fly Southwest Airlines if possible, so I checked. The ROUND TRIP price from Burbank to Las Vegas and back is $139.96 including 2 carry on and 2 checked bags. I'm enjoying your travel channel, I've been watching your A/V channel for a while.

      Uber is nice! But it shouldn't be necessary in a city with good public transit, like LA.

      That’s the mistake, LA does not have good public transit! Most people who can afford it use rideshares

      @@margaretr.4427 I can think of very few US cities that have better public transportation than LA. For me it's usually worked really well.

      @@MarkusTravels it must depend on which part of LA you are using it in! I’m out in the valley and it’s the bus or 1 Metrolink route. I’m not sure who wants to sit in the 110 degree valley heat in the summer waiting for the bus. I find the public transit in Portland, Seattle, Chicago, SF and NY much better.

      Right? Take an Uber. Easy peasy

  • @SentientApe
    @SentientApe 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Alternatively, you could have taken the subway downtown to Union Station, and then the Metrolink to the KBUR station, but you'd still have the half-mile walk to the JSX terminal. LA has actually invested a ton in public transportation but there's a percieved safety issue. The city tolerates loitering on the MTA trains which turns people off. BTW - The JSX hanger and the other glass hanger next to it used to flank the main terminal, and are two of the three original 1930 airport structures, the other being the main airport terminal which is still in use today. The hangars were at some point relocated to their present location.

    • @MarkusTravels
      @MarkusTravels  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's pretty cool that they can relocate whole hangars like that!
      I found the public transit much better now than when I first visited some 20 years ago. The investments have paid off.

    Great video Markus. You say you don't like cars. From this video I'm assuming that includes Taxi and ride share services. Since I don't mind ride share JSX would have been pretty convenient for me. Something to consider is the limited routes and airports available. I live in San Diego and they don't provide service to Reno or Lake Tahoe from SD.

    • @MarkusTravels
      @MarkusTravels  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When I originally planned this trip, I wanted to fly out of San Diego. But last year, I think they switched to another airport in the area, which was harder to reach.
      You are right, ride share would have been a better solution. I just really prefer public transportation when it's available.

    Private jet from Burbank to Las Vegas $20K, semi private and avoiding the airport for $219 is a steal. Best airline going, whenever I'm not flying true private, I take JSX. Can't beat it.

    Cool video. Too expensive for LA to Vegas though for what you get. I could see 250 if more legroom, better snacks. And charging for seat selections? I have flown 9n that kind of plane at least 4x in the past as a rural connection via a main airline.
    They have small planes like this in Mexico, cheaper as well.

    • @MarkusTravels

      If you check your bag, the legroom is ok. My mistake was bringing the small backpack onboard.

    Is this considered a private or a charter flight?

    • @MarkusTravels
      @MarkusTravels  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      These flights are scheduled and open to the public, so it's not charter. I prefer to call it semi-private, because it has some aspects of a private jet, and other aspects of a normal airline.

  • @andredarin8966
    @andredarin8966 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So, the net loss due to the torturous (and possibly dangerous) commuting was 40 minutes or so. Thank you for affirming something I have concluded: JSX is not private. To suggest it is somewhat private because of an end-run around TSA and an abbreviated pre-flight arrival time is simply marketing hype. It would seem to me that the post-arrival walk to transportation
    completely cancels any suggestion of a quasi-private experience.

    • @MarkusTravels
      @MarkusTravels  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Interesting point about the safety on public transportation. I didn't even consider it, as I'm used to transit here in Switzerland. Where I work, we have senior executives taking the train every morning. That's not the clientele you get on an LA bus.

      @@MarkusTravels Many people have checked in about their JSX experience. I found yours to be the best of the lot. It was exceptionally well-balanced. While there are numerous aspects of JSX travel that suggest it is essentially a regional that skirts TSA, one other feature you mentioned suggests it is not the luxurious adventure it promises: the cabin noise level of the Embraer 135. I would have expected sitting is seat 6A, considerably forward of the center-line engines, that you have had a much quieter ride. although it is mid-ship.
      By way of comparison, check out this video on a trip report for a Netjets Embraer Phenom 300. I'm trying to figure out why the noise level is so exaggerated during start-up and taxing . it seems right after rotation, during climbout and cruise.
      It's an interesting video and underscors my major point: JSX has as much in common with travel aboard a private jet as an elephant does with a snake.

    Okay, let's see. No FF status. No real airport lounge. Charging for seat selection. No overhead bins. Having to go to a secondary airport. Economy class seats, I don't see any redeeming qualities compared to being a high status flyer on a major airline that gets access to real first class seats, lounges and customer service. Also, unless it's truly private I wouldn't feel comfortable with the lack of TSA.

    My friend. This is America not Switzerland. You better prepare to get assaulted taking the subway or bus. The common method is to use Uber in LA. That city sucks. I used to work for JSX. BUR is rented through the Earhart family so they can’t modify the lobby too much. DAL and LAS look much nicer and PHX looks the nicest. You seem like a very nice guy but trust Americans less. We are awful.

    We all know that the public transportation in Europe is a lot better and a lot different than it is in the United States of America
    Nowadays people can just take an Uber
    Which is fine
    The nice thing about this airline is that it’s easy to board a plane. It’s easy to get parking at a smaller airport. It’s everything is easier with a smaller airport. It’s like flying into Colorado Springs instead of Denver airport.
