I spent 2500 eur per month. By myself in a 1 bedroom and doing promotional groceries. Near Amsterdam. So dunno how these ppl spend so less

And she probably spends more then 1200... She doesn't have a clue. She says in dutch " yeah what do I spend?" She doesn't know.

The average 1 bedroom apartment is 2300 euro in Amsterdam so I don't know how people spend less than that unless they have a big flatshare

I also don’t understand how they manage

But that's only the case for new contracts. The rents used to be waaay lower. So if people have an old contract they can pay anything from 400-1000 euros.

I pay €650 for my 1 bedroom apartment and I know many people who pay around the same

@@gentavs8842 only possible if you rent a social house (intended for the poorest of the poorest) for which the waiting list is between 10 to 20 years right now. They do have lotteries too sometimes for these things, but for the majority of people 2300 euro is the golden standard now in Amsterdam.

@@donbrabo i don’t have social housing, I was just really really lucky (also i live in noord and not in the center so it’s a bit cheaper here)

Those from abroad (expats) spent 2000-3000k and locals without kids spent 1000-1800 (as also shown in the video) This means expats drive rental prices up simply because their budget is 50-100% higher. But they also add to the vibe in the Netherlands :) Expats also contribute to the economy and rarely cause any problems hence I am still in favor of having expats.

It is not because expats budget is bigger. Locals get subsidised housing as they sign on early with their council. Expats come in from outside rent those same properties for five times the amount. They basically get fleeced.

Yeah, I remember during the pandemic the news mentioned that due to the lack of international students and expats the rent prices had lowered something like 30/40%. Insane amount🤯

Expats don’t drive the prices up. They would love to pay as low rent as possible just like the locals. It is the greedy landlords and big housing companies who are to blame here. Get the facts right.

Amsterdam and the south western part of the Netherlands is hellish expensive. Not to mention the nerve wrecking over Population and the mindboggling arab/moroccan presence in those parts of the Netherlands, make me wanne stay out of there at any cost. In general the Dutch population is overtaxed, by there lazy ass government that made life worse the past 15 years thanks to the wonderful parties as the VVD, D66 and all the other "liberal" parties. There is no future for young people there. There are literally better options to live on this planet

Where in Europe would you recommend that don't suffer from these problems? (I was in Paris recently and I know the city well, and it has gone so far downhill its insane but still looking to move back to Europe).
