  • Taking a collagen supplement has become pretty popular. But you need to know about this potential warning. Especially if you take this type of collagen supplement.

Thanks! I even buy deuterium depleted water so I’d like to avoid this! I’ll have to do more research. I use marine collagen since I can not tolerate bovine products.

Thanks! What do you think about hyaluronic acid supplements?

I think there is some merit to them but other factors to consider. I will do a video in the future. My favorite joint supplement is still collagen and stem cell therapy (for regeneration).

I have a friend that swears on collagen. Believe me, her skin and her face look great. FYI, I don’t know if she’s doing other things on the side, such as lasers, etc. My question is: a lot of women take collagen to prevent wrinkles and keep their face looking good, but I feel like how can the extra collagen that you’re taking in transport itself to your face? In other words, you’re taking in more collagen, but how does your body know to send it to the skin on your face and make that look better? The whole idea seems fishy to me.

Most people no longer eat the more cartilaginous parts of the animal with are rich in collagen. So supplementation can make some sense. But it's definitely gotten overhyped. There's a LOT of factors that go into skin health other than just collagen. There's also the factor of is it a collagen cream or an oral supplement which your body can direct to other areas (i.e., joints). No one can predict how the body is going to use/prioritize a collagen supplement.

Thank you for this new information! Very interesting...I've been taking collagen for about 6 years and recently decided to take a break. I began taking it when I had a knee injury and it greatly helped me to heal from surgery and just seemed to help all of my joints. Since I stopped using collagen (about 3 weeks ago), my energy level has definitely improved, but I didn't relate it to this. Could be a coincidence? The reason I'm taking a break is that I've read collagen can cause cancer. Is this anywhere in the research? I'm beginning to see that supplements should be taken for shorter time periods, and breaks are good.

They don't work if you have the genetic mutation where you can't convert glutamate into gaba, like me. You'll just be in for a world of insomnia and twitching. 😅
