Do you think you could use this as a golf score against the boxes. Add the scores of the characters and villains for each box. The box with the lowest score technically gives you the best value for money (based on toms weightings)
I did an analysis of best characters based on how many actions the average card in a person's deck gives (a card with 2 actions means 4 stats: 2 for you, 2 for your partner). I didn't factor in life-gain or master plan manipulation/reveal skills, though I rank the latter of those kinda high. I also tried to bias it on how likely someone was to use all the stats on their card (thor might not be able to utilize all 3 punches of his specials, she-hulk might not be able to for her final transformations). The stat tier list is S+: Spider-man (2 of the best abilities in the game, each worth the equivalent of 1.5-2 double action cards) S: Beta-Ray Bill, Thor (Beta Ray Bill has a lot of life-gain so should actually be maybe S+) A+: Black Panther, Quicksilver, She-hulk, Yondu, Nova (She-hulk and Yondu are so punch/thug heavy that you need to build a team around them that doesn't punch much, Quicksilver might not be as good in 2-player) A: Spider-Woman, Shang-Chi, Iron Fist, Cap America, Ghost Rider, Cap Marvel, War-Machine (Shang-Chi becomes S+ vs Thanos. The man has 7 2-action cards to help trigger power-ups) B+: Iron Man followed by everyone else. There's like 57 characters in this. I'm not gonna rank all of them. I think revealing/ignoring the top card is really powerful, but it's hard to say how to rank characters with these powers. I'd say roughly the best are Strange, Adam Warlock, Black Widow. Ideally you pick up one of these characters with 2 stat-heavy characters, or just pick 3 stat-heavy characters for the best team. Obviously you need a good balance of heroics and punching, and the best stat characters are a little biased towards punches, so maybe people like nova should be ranked even higher, though against Thanos and some other villains, heroics are pretty weak. Obviously there are combo teams like Iron-Man+Rocket that can work too. Enjoy!
Really enjoyed this series. Hoping to see the same thing with the X-men when they drop. Are there any heroes or villains you are looking forward to the most coming from the X-men set??
Gonna have to disagree with you about Strange. He's been pretty underwhelming for me. My standout has to be Cable! His wild card, discard to take two wild actions always comes in handy for me!
Same. It reminds me of the base game for Marvel Legendary which had far too many cards with the same artwork. As the game grew in popularity + grew with expansions, the art got much more varied over time. So I’m interested to see if Marvel X-men United will have more variations in art.. here’s hoping.
@@BriceJamesHagerman marvel united has 1 less variation than current legendary sets. The original legendary sets had the same 8 images repeated over all cards. Then they got 4 images plus an ultimate. This has 4 images spread through less cards... So statistically already more variation than Legendary. The art here is meant to be at a glance, that hero, given the storyline design. We have seen that X-Men doesn't change this formula from playthroughs.
@@Slyfox1775: Its a great game for both experienced and new players. I am surprised how much I liked it based on the KS page but I can see myself playing it for years to come.
@@Slyfox1775 Honestly, it's simple in concept, plays in ~30 mins, and is actually a pretty difficult "pandemic" style damage control game. If you like going places where there is bad stuff on board and cleaning it up to try and get the goal done, you'll enjoy this, just don't expect much theme beyond the villains and locations. I love Marvel Champions for how it makes you "feel like the hero" you're playing as, but the villains in Champions always felt mediocre in their themeing outside of their scheme and module. In United it's the opposite, the heroes are basic in their roles, but the situations you find yourself in, while presented simply, are actually REALLY meaty and requires some brain power and luck without too much rules overhead. It's a great gateway game, but even with my library, the speed at which it plays and how satisfying it is to out think the villain and the feel of scooping up baddies or civilians off the board feels great too.

Noticed hawkeye isn't on this list. Did he just forget him or was he not included?

I really enjoyed this whole series! Thanks for making an amazing effort!
Really enjoyed this series!! My top 5 heroes (so far, in this order): Shuri, Groot, Mantis, Blade, Quicksilver. I love a good support character!

Hoping the x men series captures the same magic.
oof..
X‐men is better imo :)
Thanks Tom, do you think you could post a PDF with your complete list and the A,B,C rankings? Would be really helpful when deciding some teams!
These are so good! Watched them several times! Hoping to see Tom take on season 2 of the X-Men with the same ranking system!
Really enjoyed this series. Hoping to see the same thing with the X-men when they drop. Are there any heroes or villains you are looking forward to the most coming from the X-men set??
what does the bigger box actually contain? - is that just kickstarter stretch goals?
Yup just a bunch of minis and cards, all the Kickstarter exclusive stretch goals
Can't even get the base game in the UK! (unless you pay stupid prices)
My top 5 are strange, QS, hulk, Gamora, and rocket
Your episode 9 on this playlist says "private" and unviewable.
Where is kang? I can't see him in the ks page
Kang was revealed as a special gift for backers after the campaign ended in Update #76 on the campaign page.
Will you please make a same list for marvel united x-men 🙏😇❤️
My yaka arrow whirlwind killed 11 thugs when we fought Ronan. It's godlike in the right moment.
Ultron would be completely crippled with it lol
Most of these are exclusive to the kickstarter, so unavailable to anyone who could not afford that. That sucks.
So sad I missed this Kickstarter. Also sad that stretch rewards like Falcon and Doc Strange aren't part of the Xmen kickstarter.
They are though.... if you get the Classic Pledge you get everything including the stretch goals. You can still late pledge now!
I called no1 right at the start
The greatest you've got with fondu was 7? The greatest I've gotten was 12
I would love for Roy to play all characters and vilains and do his list :-) I'd love to compare your 2 lists :-D
Gonna have to disagree with you about Strange. He's been pretty underwhelming for me. My standout has to be Cable! His wild card, discard to take two wild actions always comes in handy for me!

Is this game that good ? It really looks boring . I’ve never seen tom give so much time and effort for a game .
My family loves it.
I agree looks like a family weight game . I would like to see what the x men version offers. They had the base game on sale at amazon for 20$
