Haha, what is day hiking about! Nice vid Abbie. I’m actually in the midst of making my “what’s in my pack” video for the South Downs Way. People really find these videos useful.
I’m with you... pack what you like and enjoy your time in the outdoors. Great kit list I really can’t get enough of them. Have a great time and look forward to the vlog.
I like the way you consider hiking trails. There's so many people focusing on going "ultra light" to avoid each ounce... almost annoying... Well done. Keep walking! ;)
Always better carrying less brits carry a ton of stuff everything in heavy dri bags and always the same old heavy brands. My hiking comfort is ten fold better and my pack weight is under half what i use to carry. I blame DOE for the heavy pack weight of brits they stick out like sore thumbs in the alps with massive packs with stuff strapped to the outside, knife fork spoon cup, bowl etc etc crazy. Living in the uk i am always laughing at the crazy stuff brits carry, my english mates cant work out why my pack weighs so little and why i have such a good time hiking. So ditch the boots ( only wear boots for crampons havent found a uk mountain i need boots for) get a quilt and a tent that has trekking poles as tent poles and a pack that weighs under a 1kg and you are allready about 3kgs lighter than a standard uk load it will cost you less as well
Haha brilliant timing Abbie 👍👍👍👍 I'm doing it on Friday evening after work over a week. Yeah I'm doing it lightweight lol 7kg but then again I sleep in a tarp lol. Brilliant kit list by the way. Look forward to seeing updates. Have fun. Take care Cheers Karl
Just discovered your channel. Amazing watched all your Scottish walks. Inspiring me to get back on the hills. Loving the attitude and some great advice.
I feel better about my 35 lb pack now! I've been trying to get it lighter all day, but I really don't want to be without anything in it. Most of my gear is old and reliable, but that makes it a little bit heavier than stuff I'd buy now if I were starting out again. Two-day wild camp tomorrow, but carrying a week's worth of stuff in preparation for a longer walk next month. Love your videos and your enthusiasm.
Always enjoy seeing you go through your stuff Abbie. Looks like you’ve got your kit dialed in. And thanks for telling us about your Canon camera. I’m thinking of getting my first one and this gives me an option to check out.
All the best with the Two Moors Way, Abbie. I think the temperature is set to fall slightly later this week so, hopefully, the humidity will be slightly less unbearable for you. ;-) I'm always impressed that you manage to get everything in to a 48 litre pack. I'm slowly working on downsizing from 65 to 50 litres.
Another fine video. Thank you! Be careful with hard boiled eggs, advice is to eat within a couple of hours. Raw eggs in the plastic carriers could be safer. Have a safe journey.
Really looking forward to seeing your Coast to Coast video and Two Moors Way. Which other trails are you planning this year? I've only just finished the 62 mile Stour Valley Path (local to me) and going to do the St Edmund Way. Also possibly looking at the Ridgeway soon as your video looked amazing!
Thanks for watching and the comment! Ive got 3 left - the West Highland Way, Great Glen Way and Cleveland Way. You can donate towards the projects if you missed the Kickstarter campaign here: www.songthrushproductions.co.uk/film Im also setting up a Patreon page so that I can get out and shoot more! All these feature lengths will be edited from October so hold on for a few months and they'll slowly come through, first trailers then the official films. Stay WILD!
I do so love a "what's in my pack" video, especially when it's aimed at the everyday backpacker (as here) rather than the ultralight backpacker (not that I've anything against ultralight backpackers). Thanks very much.
Hi Abbie, another great video - just got a question regarding wild camping in general. I get the set up late and leave early, but if your not doing huge walks each day, what do you do between stopping and pitching camp?
Carry what works for you don't listen too much to noise, Abbie! So what happened to The Great Glen Way are you still planning on walking it? I myself am going for The Cape in just over a week's time!👍😎
Have you ever tried Nido milk....it's full fat and actually alright and most supermarkets tend to stock it in the ethnic section and honestly my mates are always shocked it came from powder when they try it while camping
I'm thinking of doing the two moors way, but living 3 miles from the mid point at Morchard Road it probably makes sense to make it in two efforts. One to the south then one to the north. As a newcomer to hiking and being 67 which would be the easier walk to start with?
Nope, just shooting all the films then edits begin in October. Enjoyed it is a vast understatement! Be excited about the realise in a few months! Stay WILD. Abbie
@kriskcar I'd scale down on the equipment walking 120 miles. I walked 56 miles of the TMW earlier this year then pulled out due to illness unfortunately. Carrying 9kg extra in filming gear would just kill your feet. 9-10kg would be my pack weight for all of my gear.

Fantastic! Looking forward to hearing about it!
Good luck on the walk Abbie, looking forward to the video!
Just started watching your videos and I absolutely love them! They are so well edited and you explain everything so well, I can’t wait to watch more 💕
Thank you! Great to have you along - stay WILD!

As Abbie says "it's what ever works for you"
I am one of those "annoying" ultra light weight hiker's

I'm afraid you'll have to wait a few months but hold tight, it's gunna be worth the wait!
thanks for the video Abbie very usfull.

Not a problem with the wait for this video on the walk.

Hey Abbie, you should do the West Highland Way! I did it in April and it was fantastic.
Headed out next week - my second time on the trail!
Abbie Barnes | Song Thrush Productions watch out for those midgies!
Hi Abbie, excellent review, take care ;)

Find some nice tea shop and drink tea ;)

Yup, the WHW then GGW in a week or so :)

Nice video. Is there a Two Moors Way Video? I can't find it.
3 minute version is out but not the full video yet!

Very awesome. I was looking at upgrading to a thermarest sleeping Matt but was thinking of the neoair. What’s your thoughts?
If its better than what you currently have in that it is more comfortable/lighter, go for it!
I assume you are waiting for a few rainy days so you can edit your C2C videos. Hope you enjoyed it
Nope, just shooting all the films then edits begin in October. Enjoyed it is a vast understatement! Be excited about the realise in a few months! Stay WILD. Abbie
Very organised :) Glad you had a great time .... it is still just about the best thing I have ever done for many reasons
Do you have a video on your Two Moors Way hike?
Will do - just got to get editing!!
How long do boiled eggs keep for in this heat wave summer?
No reply from Abbie? I'd say no more that a couple of hours!!!
7-9kg of camera gear!? Surely you wouldn't take that on the TMW?
