Hope you had an amazing time in Japan! Love love love all your videos, super informative and fun to watch. What is your shoe situation, besides your Cloud slippers? I'm going to Japan for 2 weeks in May and not sure what to bring for all the walking and possible rain... Would love to hear your input.
Hello! Aw thank you so much! The shoes I brought were just random white training sneakers I had from a while ago from a non-shoe company hahaha. I have “normal” feet in medical terms and I have very strong arches and accessory foot muscles so I can wear pretty much whatever and be good! I’m pretty lucky! But I would recommend a running shoe with more support or any of the hokas to anyone else that has any foot issues or not used to walking long distances!! Japan has a ton of hard floor. Like marble, cement, hard packed dirt. I would not recommend flat or minimal shoes like vibrams, ballet flats, sandals unless you are alllllways barefoot because you live on the beach and surf all the time etc lol. (Random example) 🤓
@@buildyourmoxie Perfect. Thank you! Maybe it was an outdated comment, but I thought I read/heard somewhere that sneakers weren't really considered appropriate footwear in Japan. 🤷🏻♀
You still have to bring your liquids in a quart sized bag! I just put them all in my check in since it was direct flight, I had my air tag, and I was confident about Japan airlines ability to not lose my luggage! I did have a tiny hand sanitizer that I forgot to show in the video which I brought in my personal item 😝
Went to Japan last November... first time since the pandemic and I definitely overpacked 😂. You really don’t need as much as you think. Used luggage delivery for the first time ever, great service! Take advantage of it if possible. I travelled with a carryon wheelie case and a medium checkin. Very inconvenient still to maneuver around as there is a lot of tactile paving that your luggage gets caught up in. Not a big deal but bring a change purse as you get a lot of coins. If you forget, drop into Daiso...love Daiso! I didn’t need as much clothes as I thought as I did a bit of hand washing during stays of 2 nts or more. I was very aware of weight restrictions especially on my carryon. I flew ANA and their limit is 10kg for personal + carryon. They didn’t weigh my bags but I was ready to stuff my jacket pockets with stuff. 😂
We had been visiting Japan several times now and we will go again in a week. I’ve learned a lot from the very first time we went there- I tend to pack a lot too like you and I suffered a lot . So now , I pack light ! I take an extra duffel bag that I fold on the way there and it becomes another check in luggage for stuff we buy there. I don’t bring laundry soap since most places we stay comes with laundry soap and if not there’s an array of soaps in the stores there. I love your style .
Ha - I tend to be an over-packer, as well (its just in case). Leaving for Japan next month, and have been watching all your vids (Thanks, much needed tips). You're awesome!
Yay! That’s going to be so fun!! I’m a horrible chronic overpacker lol. This video is me really really skimming down! I had so much space for souvenirs and snacks. I was so happy I did it this way!
Great video! I leave for Japan next week! Some of these tips will really help. 🙂 What are your thoughts on those blow up things you put on the tray table and rest your head in the hole on top?
I travel mainly to Europe and am a light packer. For 10 days I use a carryon size luggage and a tote bag as my personal item. I check in the carryon luggage lol. I hate fighting for overhead bin space. My tote has my tablet, meds, puzzle book, snacks, personal wipes and a change of clothes.
Hello fellow over packer! Thanks a lot for sharing your fav traveling items with us. You're really fun to watch. LOL! Oh yea, here's how I travel, I pack my 24 in (with my stuff) luggage into my 29 inch (empty) luggage. LOL!
Hi! My daughter is leaving for Japan with EF tours next week and she is concerned about her plane snacks. It s a long flight and she has peanut allergies so she typically does not eat on the plane and so we have to pack snacks for her. Do you ever have any issues with getting snacks thru TSA and customs in Japan? We won't be packing any liquid snacks but I was just wondering if there is anything you would recommend we avoid?
Hi!! I have never had an issue with bringing snacks on the plane! As long as it’s not liquid she should be fine! ☺️. If she is bringing meat or raw fruit/veggies, she has to finish it before going through customs when she lands! ♥️♥️
Thank you for sharing where you got all of your clothes! That's where I'm struggling for our trip this autumn... I don't know what to pack or where to buy clothes! Where did you get your slacks?
@@mugiwaramoss I got my slacks from Abercrombie!! They have so many variations and types! If you have a store by you, I recommend trying everything on to find your size! 🥰
I wasn't sure I could watch the whole video because of the "energy"..lol. But I found this to be really fun and I don't know..."uplifting"(?)because of her personality.I am such an overpacker...you just never know what you need and it always hurts to spend that money on something you already have...and you could have spent it on something "fun". But to everyone's point, it isn't like you can't find what you need there. I am going for 2 weeks and this is going to be a challenge. Watching TH-camr's has been so helpful in narrowing down the most import things.

Are you using a DJI pocket now? Basing off of the facial rec following you 😂 Oh there it is - mirror selfie 😂, how do you like it? My husband is trying to talk me into getting one but I wasn’t impressed when I used it for a trip to Flagstaff. But I do like the size, especially for travel. As for packing for japan. I’ve already started packing for practice and I still have 2 months to go 😂 trying to be minimal tends to make me forget things. Otherwise I overpack which isn’t an option this time because I need to be handsfree as much as possible. 2 month trip with 2 littles. Oh and I tried the Kavu bag, still too small for what I needed it for 😢
Haha! YES!!! Dgi pocket osmo 3 was a GAME CHANGER!!!! I practiced with it a couple weeks before in Boston so I got the hang of it before Japan and I just absolutely love it so much. I think I’ll make a review video on it sometime haha!
Is JAL strict when it comes to the size of your personal item? I was told the Beis mini weekender was considered out of range for their sizing, and I had trouble finding a concrete answer on this. I kept seeing results about the regular size weekender being too big for a personal item.
@@meladrian896 hehe I’ve been in Japan Air 3x now. And I always bring my MINI weekender hehe Regular weekender is too big for any airline under the seat. Regular size weekender would be considered carry on sizr
Yes!! It’s the boyfriend one! I just saw that one of them is half off! But I think they are limited on that size! It’s super good quality and really really soft. Big hood for your bun. If it’s your first time I still recommend going late March early April for Sakura (cherry blossom) season. Even tho it’s more crowded. It’s so beautiful! The weather is absolutely perfect. Then May is good too. But try not to do golden week. October and November are good too! Not too cold not too hot :)
Hi! Does anyone know if you have to have 1 suica card per person? In other countries I've travelled to, if I had enough money loaded on a subway card I could swipe twice (for my partner and I). Is that not possible?
I’m packing for Japan and I’m confused about liquids. I understand about how much you can have in a carry on but what about a checked bag. Does the same apply or can I take a full size shampoo bottle.
looking at the liquid IV and wondering what flavor you prefer? also should debating if need sugar free bc think if dehydrated probably need the sugar, but am diabetic so??? love your videos!
@@jbowerdel try LMNT! It’s another hydration powder and has zero sugar :). It’s more sodium so it takes some getting used to. Both of them I like. The liquid IV and LMNT. I use triple the water recommendation and share with my husband :) (Or you can just use less packet too) Here is the variety flavors for LMNT. I like raspberry salt! amzn.to/3Xv02nK
Decant all of your cosmetics and creams into very small containers like makeup test jars it should all fit in a 1 litre bag. You sure bring a lot of stuff for such a short trip.
I still use a ziplock quarts bag! But heavy duty so it doesn’t rip. 😝 I am still looking for a good tsa approved one but all the ones I’ve tried get that sticky plastic feel after a while yuck
Sephora sells a little reusable quart bag that I personally like, if you're still looking for suggestions. I loaned it to my spouse and never got it back, so I just bought another one! Also, another tip: you fit more products in the bag if you put them in horizontally!
My top tip for travel is to only take hand luggage (no check in bag). I think it makes the travel process and trip itself so much easier and stressful! It's very hard at first but I have mastered the art over the years with lots of work trips. The exception is if you are going somewhere where specialist gear is needed such as a hike - I.e I did Kilimanjaro last year and had to check in a bag as I had hiking and camping gear. Xx
I am slowly packing less and less! Some day hopefully soon I can do it!! Because I completely agree. Checked luggage is just another layer of travel stress 😁
Hi , have a question can you have some some makeup ( eyeliner, mascara, face powder, mini eye shadows , blush and lipstick . a mini perfume and a small mirror on your carry on bag? for a touch up before arriving to receive boyfriend 😅☺
Aw you are so thoughtful! Lucky boyfriend 🥹 Yes you can bring those on board in your carry on. But put the mascara and perfume in a plastic ziploc bag with your other liquids. They all need to fit in a quarts size bag and be under 3.4 ounces :) Any creams or pastes or sprays count as liquids :)
If you're flying to or from the US, there's a restriction on how much loose powder you can carry with you in your carry-on. I can't remember how much it is, but it should tell you on TSA's site.
Thank you. It was inspiring, I hope we will manage take with us a little less clothes and hygien stuff :) Coz we will have only two smaller suitcases. :)
Obviously a moot point now since it's past your trip but since I've seen your Japan hauls - if you are planning to buy sunscreen anyway - why luge any over there? Ditto for any cosmetics/skincare you plan to buy while there. Just bring enough for 1-2 days and rest you can buy while there.
@@janemuses3031 for this trip with the check in bag, I wasn’t sure what I was going to find and when I would have the chance to go and I’m super picky about my beauty care :). And then my friend Joyce and I were able to spend a few hours shopping together so I then got to find all the cool stuff I eventually showed in my haul videos :) The next trip to Japan I took a month later when I had my carry on only trip, I brought the beauty stuff I absolutely needed (eye contact solution, hair stuff, etc) and then I bought body lotion and sunscreen the first night on our way to dinner :). Then I did another large shopping haul but bought everything the last day of this next trip :). This trip in particular was 10 days carry on only and some in country side so I forced myself to not shop until the very end in which I put all my goodies in a large duffle to check in :) Hehe but totally agree. We're also definitely utilizing luggage delivery when we get there because I'll be using a wheelchair and can only carry so much.
😍🤩you can do this!!!!! Your plan is perfect!! This coming week is my packing carry on video so give others some ideas! I’m so happy I was able to do it!! And then we had 2 checked bags we brought home with over 65 pounds of stuff 😅. Skincare. Snacks. Shoes. Etc 🤗
It really is a special place so try to bring as little as you can!
I can relate 100%. " I am an overthinker. I am overprepared." I am planning to visit Japan soon. I love the excitement you bring to all of your videos. You inspire. Keep doing your thing.
Aloha Echan. Good to see you back in our happy place. We are planning the next trip now super excited.
Mahalo for all you do. 🤙🏽

I'm confused, shouldn't the carry-on and back bag weigh 10kg?
Great episode as always even w/o any mention of „gurgly“! Will surely watch again b4 packing for Japan this summer.
My husband and I are going this March 21st! Also I'm going to school for my dpt physical therapy degree (love your tips as a PT for a long flight ). Love your videos ❤

Next year hopefully. As we are travelling a lot in Japan I will really limited to small bag, but will go with a checkin bag for on the way home.
Yay so fun!! If you go during a little bit warmer time, it should be easier!🤩
15.09 omg how much little thing you are bringing lol. I would pack my sons cloths in your beauty bag hahaha
Haha that is a GREAT idea!!!! 🤩
another amazing video! so helpful.

Thank you for showing the inside of your packed toiletry bags.
Some YTers don’t do that and only show what they’ve taken out for the video.
Haha you are welcome!! It was SUPER TMI!! but I figured welp, I said everythinggggg in my video 🤣🤣
How do you get through security with out your 311 bag “limited liquids” ? 15:37
What is the thing you use for coldsores?
We had been visiting Japan several times now and we will go again in a week. I’ve learned a lot from the very first time we went there- I tend to pack a lot too like you and I suffered a lot . So now , I pack light ! I take an extra duffel bag that I fold on the way there and it becomes another check in luggage for stuff we buy there. I don’t bring laundry soap since most places we stay comes with laundry soap and if not there’s an array of soaps in the stores there. I love your style .
Just arrived home from Japan and wow!!! I can't wait to go again. Wish I had packed a bit lighter when I went!
Haha! I know the feeling! I packed soooo much my first time but I did much better this time 🤣
🥳it sounds like you had an amazing time!!! 😱
How tall are you? 🤓 important question

Do you have an Amazon store front? I would love to browse and see what is applicable to my upcoming trip!
oops!! sorry for the delay! I didn't see your comment :)

But to everyone's point, it isn't like you can't find what you need there. I am going for 2 weeks and this is going to be a challenge. Watching TH-camr's has been so helpful in narrowing down the most import things.

Are you using a DJI pocket now? Basing off of the facial rec following you 😂
Oh there it is - mirror selfie 😂, how do you like it?

And I always bring my MINI weekender hehe
Regular weekender is too big for any airline under the seat. Regular size weekender would be considered carry on sizr

How many times have you been to Japan? Ever been up Mt Fuji?
I'm going in September!!!
Lucky boyfriend 🥹
Yes you can bring those on board in your carry on. But put the mascara and perfume in a plastic ziploc bag with your other liquids. They all need to fit in a quarts size bag and be under 3.4 ounces :)
Any creams or pastes or sprays count as liquids :)
@@buildyourmoxie Thank you very much for your response 😊☺
