I think what made this especially nice for me personally was that you and I met at the Melody and drank whisky there together when I was in London so this felt really comfortable and nostalgic! I love that you are so genuine and you are exactly who you present yourself to be on social media. You have a deep love and enthusiasm for single malts and other whiskies and you celebrate them but also give us your true thoughts about them. That is what I enjoy tremendously about your Instagram page and will look forward to that here. It is important for people to know that they can truly love something and have constructive criticism, and also just opinions that are not always sunshine and rainbows. This doesn't diminish the love but makes it genuine and multidimensional. Thanks so much for taking the time to make these and for sharing your love of whisky with us here on youtube!

LOVED this video and this series Ian! One of my very favourite whisky channels on youtube-iverse! All these years of living in London and I'm crying that I never knew about the Melody bar before shipping out to Canada. Especially saddening as I used to live very close, in Earls Court😭😭
My first foray into single malt was Auchentoshan three wood, when my dad bought me a bottle for Christmas. After the epiphany that "hey, this is really rather nice!" my next bottle was Highland Park 18, as it was a leaving present from a company I'd worked at for a few years. Nothing much happened for a few years, as I got interested in wine, but then I started frequenting the Boisdale in Belgravia, which has an epic scotch selection! Ah, happy memories!

My journey is similar to Ian’s. First bottle I actually bought was Woodford reserve after seeing it in a film, second bottle was Highland Park 12! Discovered Glendronach fairly early on and haven’t looked back haha.
Highland Park 12 is probably there for a fair few 🥃
Glendronach was my start and exactly that - you never look back!
Great episode. Made me wonder where my whisky journey started - probably with a Glenmorangie or something. Have tried a whole bunch of others since via samples and subscriptions, figuring out what I like (and don’t!). That whisky bar looks amazing!
