Trumby she is an Australian through and through. She’s lived here the majority of her life and is an Australian citizen. It is a migrant country. Most people are 2nd or 3rd generation born Australian’s and lots of people were from other countries and moved here. I’m ethically Greek, that doesn’t make me any less Australian

Wenn man bedenkt, dass es nur ca. 20 Punkte waren, welche ihr den Sieg gekostet haben....es ist einfach traurig. Wir empfanden es sehr anstrengend der Ukraine überhaupt zu zuhören.

I think it is easier to do well when you're just starting or returning from a break. But the fact this didn't win makes me think it will be hard for Australia to ever win as they will always struggle in the televote.

They are in fact allowed to win (because why wouldn't they?) and if they would win, they have an agreement with the EBU to team up with an European country to 'co-host' the ESC (like it will be the case next year with the UK and the Ukraine).
Australia can win, they will just have to choose another European country to Co-Host and host it on Australia’s behalf
If Dami can't win with that performance, Australia will not ever win Eurovision. I think this is on par with Euphoria. Still fantastic in 2019.
Vocally, Euphoria is light years away from this. Dami is the best Australian act so far on Eurovision, followed by Guy Sebastian.

Dami, Zlata, Yohanna, Anne Marie David, Vicky Leandros, Kaliopi, Severine and obviously Celine Dion are in my opinion the best female performers ever heard on that stage. They are just another league for this competition. They can sing the content of a bill, making that a masterpiece

Personally, I think Loreen is the greatest vocalist ever to peform in Eurovision, followed by Aminata. Dami is top 5 for sure, maybe even 3 for me. She should have won that year though, Dami was the best.

I was there in the Audience that evening, and when she didn’t win it was such a deception. I couldn’t even remember the winning song. Dami was by miles better then the rest there.

ESC robbed her by allowing1944 song which was sung 3 years before going against the rules, they allowed it because they did not want OZ to win this.

You're right! Dami Im's performance from this particular concert is actually even better than her performance in the studio version (even better, because this standard studio version is also very strong, of course thanks to Dami's vocal skills).
And here, in this live version - there is more expression and these so-called "sound ornaments" or "additional voices" and intonations - I don't know what they are called professionally, because I'm no vocalist expert :)

@@jacksondevine8320 To be fair, if that was the case, then the juries would be the ones to give way less points to Australia, not the public. In fact, it was the complete opposite. The only explanation that I can give for this is that the public are mostly people who are joining late and only listen to the replays, and they give 12 points to the people who scream because they think it's impressive. And Australia were performing in the middle of the running order, compared to Ukraine who were near the bottom, and the most points go to the countries who are near the bottom of the running order. But even then, it makes no sense.

Dami Im should have won the Eurovision contest. The way that she sang that song is spine tingling, every time I listen to it. Powerful stuff.
It wasn't that Jamala's song wasn't good, or well sung, or beautiful, but this just has such an ANTHEM vibe to it. It gets people together, it's catchy, and goddamn the vibe it must of brought to that arena, I can't imagine, I would of given anything to watch her perform this. She looks incredible, the staging was amazing, and holy hell her voice... that's why I thought this was the true winner in my opinion.

Dami actually won the jury votes with an unassailable lead. It was the public votes that robbed her, she arrived in Stockholm late finishing off her tour first then produced her Eurovision video within 24 hrs working around the clock. She definitely was robbed !

Actually, Dami is an angel and she sings like one. So she has wings and flew down from the box obviously. ;D
From 2:12 there is a big shot of her head. While we cannot see the stage 4 guys come running from stage right entrance (that stage is creepy, you can roll everything up from below in no time). In the next shot from the dropcam at 2:16 we can see 2 people in black clothing lifting her down the box and then running away towards the front edges of the stage (only visible by a light shining on them and when the floor lights up). The other 2 are getting ready behind the box.
In the next steadicam/flycam/crane (no idea what exactly they used here) shot at 2:21 the camera goes around Dami and while we are looking towards the audience, the big box is being rolled away by the other two stage hands and woop-di-doo, at 2:38 the big shiny box is already gone and nowhere to be seen.
The choreography needed for these effects and the planning of the camera work is really quite astonishing, and it's not computer trickery, it's good old coordination work.
