The forest didn't help enough. Legend commented to someone else stating that the missiles just did too much damage, even with the forest blocking the missiles.
I wonder how this doomstack would be with a Beastmen lord like Malagor or Morghur. Legend probably wouldn't have been whittled down to just Mother Ostankya at the end there.
Neither of those provide a bonus to the Incarnate Elemental, neither does the beastman red line and the beastman tech tree only gives a +10% weapon strength to them.
@archlorddestin That's directly towards the Incarnate. I'm talking general army buffs that would affect them. Doesn't Morghur have regeneration or something? Shouldn't that help keep the Incarnates alive just that little bit longer to do more damage to the enemy?
@@archlorddestin malagor has his own flock of doom, so maybe he could make their aura of NOPE a bit spicier. Also flying small caster is usually better than riding big caster. It's maybe not about buffs themselves, but about potential of the lord too.
Idk how many people have tried fighting Stanky’s faction but they are the most annoying faction to fight after crisis Helman Ghorst. The hexes and potions definitely need a nerf. Each one is way more powerful that even blue tier banners, yet they they can apply to their whole army, while crippling all your units

u played it well but i think once u ve pinned down the 3 armies, i think u should have picked a couple big boiz and turned em round. just to screen the ice guards.u didnt need all of them there and ostankya can run units down. flock of doom was good but the dmg u did with her was only hurting your boiz more than the melee units u killed with that spell. so idk ggz but i feel u could have turned it early
I tried something similar. if the whole army wasn't right on the edge their reinforcements would disengage and start shooting and it would have been an even bigger mess. Hard decisions had to be made as I could find no way to get a clean win on this one.
It looked really good. Did you ever try fighting in the woods to use the trees to block missiles? Just curious if that would have performed better. I did this doomstack in my campaign with a stolen life wizard from bretonia. It really benefitted from the life magic.
@@LegendofTotalWar Ice Guard are always going to shred 'demonic' single entities like that. And the glaive versions are even going to be dangerous to engage in melee (though the constant flock of doom likely helps there). They're almost custom built to shred stuff like that if it doesn't have enough armour

It's just bunch of big bois and mortis engine in multiple places. Nothing wrong having more than 1 of the same effect in different spots of battlefield.
I feel like he purposely put the doomstack in this scenario since every other doomstack had been tested by it fighting what its generally good at fighting. But never against something it could actually lose against. In a way, this seems like an attempt to break the norm and way of determining the rating of doomstacks. Could also be a situation where they forgot to test in legendary difficulty.
Actually working on this doomstack, to start if they hit lvl 7 then they get +15 armor and +5 melee defense that would help them take less damage. Also I’m trying 5x hag hero’s that gives them 100% vigor
It really sucks they did so little with the Shadows of Change DLC, I love the Changling and Mother Ostankya (I don't give a shit about the Jade dragon). I only wish they did more with them because they are really fun to play as.
legend did great. i think the army needs a little more healing power and maybe another hag to boost the damage output. and also i think hags have a special skill point that gives the army vanguard deployment which could come quite handy. anyway good video nice battle i really enjoyed it thanks legend 😁👍
Kislev commanders and heroes have the most stereotypical names ever. Feels pike they were written by some dude who has never seen anything from slavic mythology, and only spent 4 days in some pub in Moscow getting blackout drunk. Good thing ive read some russian and slavic literature ( which i highly recommend) and mythology, so i rename my characters with accurate names
I kinda get why they added a patriarch, but honestly they should have ran a gramma hero for the stalk on all the Incarnates. Would have made the prospect much less daunting.
The hagwitches have a trait lame arm or something like that that gives +3 melee defense. I have three in my army that gives them almost an extra 10 melee defense
It’s too bad Ostankya doesn’t have pann’s impenetrable pelt. This army really could’ve used the melee defense, speed and physical resist. Since they have so much killing power already, using spells to improve their damage seems largely wasted. Legend knew it would be a tough battle from the get go because they are so squishy.
I feel like it was a MAJOR mistake in this combat to not be splitting up your monsters more. In melee, Kislev doesn't do all that great of damage. Having the initial army shooting you in the back forever I think was a bad move, and works against your mortis engine effect. Grouping to take advantage of healing is nice, but not taking damage to begin with is better. I think this unit would be superb in groups of about 3.
I would've thought that the passive flock of doom would've made this about equal to what some other doomstacks have done. But yeah that was bad, Minotaurs of Khorne against a similar amount of forces and enemy, do significantly better.
I might be missing some really crucial point, so forgive my ignorance... But why didn't Legend just blob up in the forest, using it to counter all the ranged firepower the enemy has? Aren't elementals supposed to ignore forest disadvantages and so on?
Really disappointed with Ostankya, her campaign is just all over the place. She's in Naggarond, has ambusher units (kislev is not an ambush-y faction), she can inhabit forests (???) with no penalty, if you invade a forest you end up at war with the ordertide unless you colonize an unclaimed one, she has a theme for Beastial units, but only has 1 actual wendigo unit even though it was advertized they would have a roster of them, the actual incarnate units are just melee cygors with passive flock. Ostankya is a missile chariot, making her hard to control in melee so you just skirt around the enemy for the entire battle. It's really boring after the first few battles. In my campaign i packed up and left, went to Albion, by the time i got to the motherland, Kislev, Empire, and Brettonia had been killed by demons, vampires, and rats. Turn 70 and every single order faction in the Old World was deleted.
They are very strong. Probably would've made this battle much easier. However, as Legend said, he didn't want to use the faction mechanics because doomstack videos are all about pushing an army to its absolute limit.. which this video showcases THE limit of this army.
im confused why you didnt pull a few big bois off to engage the starting army and instead let it freely shoot into your units, locking them in melee would've lost you less units.
@@casualgaming2570 He's not talking about hiding the forces and then wasting ammo, he's talking about actually fighting enemies in the forest, so their missile units would be way worse at hitting your troops.
That might work if you got those enemies there so that all of them would be in the woods, but here I think that forest strip is so small that getting the enemy there in blob would be hard, and they'd just shoot you still, and you have to face them all in full power and missiles he blocked at the start shooting at you too, not easy to pick those off, even while being in the forest. But if you'd run along the forest, fighting in one corner and then relocating to another to heal and kill the fast units, that might work. Then just wait for them, kill some on the way there and rinse and repeat. Would like to try that. There's just always the ticking timebomb of self damaging flock of dooms, as Legend stated, so you still need to fight quite early.
Using the blessings doesn't demonstrate the power of the unit itself which is what we're doing here. The other kislev characters dont get the blessings and I'm not willing to test this out again later.
cause ikit and throth directly buff their units while the charms and curses can work with every units so it dosen't properly show off how strong the doomstack itself is
@@shmekelfreckles8157 There are exceptions. Blessings only apply to one unit each and have to be remade every time you want to use them again. There's no way you're going to make 20 blessings each time you want to do battle. Faction mechanic passives that are just always applied without having to be renewed is fine. Stuff like Ikit's workshop upgrades are fine because once you've purchased it, you've always got it.
As always I enjoyed the video. But the situation is a bit strange. It is not useful to complain about the DLC prices and then buy it. I understand that many people did buy it. Anyhow, I am not sure uploading battles with the new DLC involved is the best, it will only push more people to buy it. Just my opinion.
doomstack is absolutely not the best way to go nowadays. whether by insidious programming or better ai, idc what you chalk it up to, nowadays a doomstack army gets countered so easily, bnest way to g o is a somehwat balanced high-tier army

Mother Ostankya is really a strong LL to get 800 kills in one battle, ive never seen a battle so close

yeah i went into the woods and they still got shredded by the missiles. the only way to stop them was to get them all in melee

Why not use campaign mechanics? You would use them for Ikit or Moulder?

doomstack is absolutely not the best way to go nowadays. whether by insidious programming or better ai, idc what you chalk it up to, nowadays a doomstack army gets countered so easily, bnest way to g o is a somehwat balanced high-tier army
