There are 9 or 10 games that i would call RPGs in this list, several of them not being open world... a lot of the games you present are actually action/adventure games with stats, or for a few ActionRPG... stats don't make an RPG... good try but you can do better

Also is God of War Ragnarok an Open World Game? I tried the first one and it was mostly linear.

I mean, no Skyrin or Fallout4, two of the most popular open world RPGs of the last decade and both still being played daily. I'd say that pretty much invalidates this list, even more so than having MGS or Assassin's Creed on this list at all.

I know different strokes for different folks, one mans trash is another mans treasure and all that, but so many shots at Bethesda's writing while praising games like Elden Ring and more thats story was so bad I started listening to podcast or audio books while playing lol.
I would argue and say Souls Games are all about the environmental storytelling rather than the writing itself. Whereas Bethesda try to be good storytellers mainly through traditional quests and dialogue. I see your point, but in my eyes Bethesda could do with a new writing team lol. Thanks for watching
I can't see how people would a hate on an open world RPG. Like all these games are the best games period. Open world RPGs have taken over as the best games. And the witcher 3 should be number 1 or in the top 3 at LEAST
I dont think you know what an RPG is if you are including MGS V, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War Ragnarok, Death Stranding, Spiderman, or Red Dead Redemption 2. None of these are rpgs. Delete your video or rename it to just open world video games.
RDR2 is more of RPG then some games on this list you have a weight system chracter customisation and Arthur changes as person based on your Actions you also have dilague systems Which allows you to diffuse situations in the Open World, Intimidate a witness, talk your way out if trouble and Even ask for lift into town with random NPCs robbing NPCs using the dilague system and so on. HZD is not really an RPG some do not Consider Witcher 3 an RPG. What an RPG is really confusing now in days. Kingdom come to me is very much an RPG but does not have a branching main story.

I love Elder Scrolls games, and spent a long time on Oblivion after terrorising Skyrim, but I never could stand the redness of the Oblivion Gates... it felt like everything was dull as a consequence. But I still love the gameplay, the storylines and the innate freedom of TES4. By the way, where's Dragon Age: Inquisition on this list?!

I loved Genshin impact. I would gladly pay tripple A prices. But the amount of koney needed to get a character is insane. As long as its a slot machine i cannot play it. Anymore...

GI is great and you don’t have to spend a dime if you don’t want and still get characters from limited banners maybe not all of them as quickly as this who pay but enough to fight in the spiral abyss and eventually you can gather most of them. Combat is very smooth and engaging and fun! It’s so much to do in that game it’s crazy and it’s FREE!
Heh, heh, heh... Skyrim is better than Onlivion in many ways. Morrowind is better than Oblivion, too. Oblivion is still very good, as a middle ground, but if only for the mods and graphics, Skyrim is the best overall open world RPG. Fallout NV is marred by tech. The game is almost impossible to finish on consoles, due to save file size and crashes. Otherwise, it's really good.

Gothic 3 is better than both. If it wasn't for that game, the witcher 3 wouldn't have been so great, and if the witcher hadn't achieved success, assassin's creed valhalla and odyssey wouldn't have existed.

While witcher 3 and gothic 3 have a lot in common, the world without loading, excellent discovery, decent difficulty, etc.

Open Worlds, by and large, are a pretty new phenomenon in the grand scale of things. If I was 20 I would have grown up with pretty much all of them, aside from a few anomalies pushing boundaries in the early 2000s. I loved all the old Black Isle Studios stuff if that helps :)
Starfield should be called "Sleeping simulator". Such an underwhelming game, I wish I had not bought it. But Fallout NV and "The Witcher 3" were totally amazing, must plays.

Modders are already doing that, it's called Skyblivion and should fully launch in a year. You can look up the videos, it looks pretty amazing. Modders also upgraded Daggerfall to the unity engine, and Morrowind to a new engine called "OpenMW". I just want a NEW TES game before the kid legally named Dovakiin gets his first car!

We do play it fast and loose with the term RPG, meaning a few Adventure/Action RPGS end up in there, but hey, variety is the spice of life :)

Yeah, Valhalla was a real slog to get through. I did finish it, but man did it really showcase all the bad parts of the 'Ubisoft formula'

Witcher 3 is the most overrated game ever, not even the best Witcher game (that's Witcher1). Cyberpunk is 'open world' as much GTA games are.
