Man that's a real rockabilly guitar solo and not just a guy who knows which notes sound twangy when you bend em. Incredible approach with the bend then quick rest then attack on a melody that is so unexpected and then leave that kind of abbreviated as well. This style seems to be doing a like half phrase approach for each move rather than completing any whole phrase it mixes half of one then half of another. While also utilizing the full range of the guitar and throwing in a few classic riffs..not sure who you said this guy was but he's probably either listened to, learned from, played with, or is Danny Gattis cause this is master level pickin. And the most genuis part of it all is its in the middle of a POP SONG and totally embodies the feel of the music. Would really love to see how that came together in the studio.
Glad you liked the lesson. Guitarist was Hugh Burns. I have met him a couple of times, super nice guy. He has written a couple of books on fingerstall arrangements but is also a pretty tasty jazz player. Great all-round guitarist ,like all the session guys.
Love it! Brilliant clear lesson, thank you. Not only the solo but I want to learn more country styles licks and this gives me some more ideas generally.
