    So, I just wanna mention how impressed I am with the capacitive sensors on the buttons. It's not just a touch sensor, it's like a proximity sensor, but a binary one. Your virtual fingers bend and straighten, when your finger is actually like a few millimeters off the buttons, not even touching them. It's really wild! And it means the virtual fingers actually move closer to how ur finger is really moving. not just auto-snapping the second u aren't touching a button, it waits till it's a certain distance.

      It's a motion controller, not that innovative, there've been motion controllers for years. This is just the latest development of one.

      As an owner of the razer hydra, who clearly recalls being amazed by what the Wii did, the Touch is more than just the next gen. I am legit getting hand presence in games now, to the point that my real world perception is affected by my VR experience.

      Yup. They were SOOOOOOO close to being literally 4 years ahead of the competition (ala the Vive Wands) instead of the just 1-2 years ahead that Touch actually was.

    They need to sell mods that allow you to strap the controller to your hand so you can open and close your hands in VR. You could pick up and throw objects more naturally. As the touch controllers are right now, I would be scared to let a friend try a game which involves throwing objects. They might release the controller instinctively, and the wrist strap may not hold in in place. This is still an enthusiast market, so a lot of people would be willing to strap it to their hands even if it takes an extra 20 seconds. But I can see why they went for a more friendly device. An optional secure strap would have been a good idea.

    • @pdkkid1
      @pdkkid1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just got my touch controllers 2 days ago and i must say, ive never been worried about throwing them whatsoever, the fit around your hand is perfect, and even when you completely open your hand, they still stay on snug.

      If you’re still worried about this (2 years later) there’s a product called the Mamut Touch that does exactly what you’re thinking of. It’s about $35 plus shipping. If you’re in the US it’s around $43 total.

    "They make something called 'hand presence' possible in VR."
    You mean, what the Vive had on release 8 months ago?

    • @Harsh-up3ip
      @Harsh-up3ip 8 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Well, that's like saying the Wii had hand presence 11 years ago. The difference with this is that you actually get your hand, and buttons to correspond with your fingers.

    • @jellevm
      @jellevm 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well, no. The Wii had hand representation, not presentation. Saying that the Touch allowing gestures is something radically new is just conveniently reinterpreting what it means for your hands to be 'present' in VR. Regardless of gestures or other improvements in accuracy, the Vive controllers allow for presence just as well. Like you said it's a difference, a difference in the way in which your hands are presented. You can't say your hands aren't present in the Vive, so it's an improvement over something that has already been done. It's just marketing so that Oculus can claim to be the first once again.

    • @Aunubus69
      @Aunubus69 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Wrong the vive wand is no where near this. Like at all. And before you go do you even own a vive and as a matter of fact yes i did for 2 days and i returned it to the store. The vive was a rushed unfinished product and HTC has been a business who is going under and has had real bad financial troubles in the past. I would rather have my oculus and touch controllers over vive because oculus is a thriving business and they keep on making amazing better quality stuff. Yes the oculus could of drop their controllers back in march but they want to perfect the design and give developers a chance to work with them and program for them. Trust me it was worth the wait.

    • @jellevm
      @jellevm 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Quality is totally irrelevant, the Vive controllers delivered hand presence no matter how poorly.

    • @Aunubus69
      @Aunubus69 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oh ok if thats how you feel then i guess i could give you a busted old tv that barley gives you a picture. Its still giving you the same experience as a new tv, by that you can sit down and watch whatever is on the tv no matter how poor the picture quality is but its still doing the same job. Or i could give you a car from the 80s thats rusted out no ac or heat and let you drive it to work every day, instead of a newer more modern car that has ac and heat. Its still doing the same job as in getting to to go to places no matter the quality of experience you have during the commute. Sounds about the same to me.

    they force us to buy a new one Oculus controllers and the worst about is, they are not so accurate in tracking like the old one... I cant understand Oculus!!!!

    • @gezbit
      @gezbit 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have to buy the new controllers ONLY if you buy a rift s or oculus quest, the new design on them is for the inside out tracking on the headset to see the controller.
