I sure hope they updated the other versions with that, too. I don’t think I’d want to play this game on Switch because of how observant they expect you to be with hidden boxes and gems. I already wonder if I’m at a disadvantage with playing it on a regular PS4, instead of on a 4K PS4 Pro.
Honestly, I think the N-verted levels would have been a lot better if they all changed the gameplay in a unique way, like the first 2 levels relying on sonar.
@@draguOdoT the only other changes there are is when you have the watery levels and the old time film levels that change the speed of the levels. Old time being slightly faster, and the watery ones being slower
If they made the 5 gems (not the hidden gem) being shared between normal and n.verted, like how the perfect relic is shared between the two, that would reduce the annoyance. Or make it so that if you beated a nverted gem,you would get a crystal, they could have also done that with the nsanely perfect relics as well, where after you finished one,you would get a crystal.

@@flipside2086 What do you mean by that? Do you mean people doing it again? Because of course it'll be faster the second time. Do you mean new people? If so, why?

I believe the padding is due to the heightened expectations for the first new crash platformer for around a decade and they were worried that if they didn't put a lot of shit in it, people would be like "this wasn't worth it, its too short". Therefore, they overcompinsated.

In my years of playing crash bandicoot games I’ve never seen a crash game that insanely difficult to fully complete. Great game but Jesus Christ they need to never do what they did with this game’s optional gem requirements again with the next game. The perfectionist gem especially is unforgiving
God I wish I could enjoy the game by just simply playing through it but years of playing Crash games the way I play them has made that all but impossible. I get the most enjoyment out of these games mastering the levels as I go, completing them as much as possible before I move on to the next. I don't like having to revisit like 30 levels and learn them all over again. Well the problem here is that becomes absolute torment very quickly, for a myriad of reasons. The cheaply hidden boxes are particularly annoying. Guess I'll either go insane by playing the game the way I want to play it, or somehow suppress my OCD and have it be 3 hours long. WHAT FUN.
Ok, I’ve never played a single Crash game in my life, but Tawnas character evolution really goes to show how the female body stereotype went from skinny with big breats to t h i c c
Crash 4 taught me a very valuable lesson. The longer the length, the less replay value. I genuinely hope Crash 5 takes more notes from Toy Story 2 on PS1 instead of Donkey Kong 64.
@@zjzr08 I would rather keep them in the future, then playing a level, playing the alternate character version, then replaying the main stages after the alternate character ones.¨ It's fun how a change in visuals and a minor gameplay tweak can screw with you. Sure it's not equally fun in all variations, but as someone who didn't try to 100% just the extra gems for unlocking skins, great. Of course later on, you need more and more, which weights that down a bit.
Instead of a hidden gem, maybe there should be a gem for not killing a single enemy Then that way it would make replaying a level a reasonable challenge, much like not breaking any crates to go against the natute of killing enemies that block your path
I mean the monumental amount of effort it takes to complete this game is more terrifying than anything he could've played in the MONTH OF TERRARRR! (aarr...)
All of the extra requirements wouldn't be a problem if the stages in Crash 4 weren't so ungodly long. If there were twice as many stages that were each a third of the length, it would be great.
@@Goro_Maj1ma I doubt it. The dev times are EVIL. Even The Completionist refused to do them. And when HE refuses to collect everything in a game, you know it's fucked up.

I like to think that they made the whole game without the landing circle, but decided to include it at the end of production after one of the play testers went on a rage induced rampage through the offices
But it does make the game much easier. There are a decent amount of boxes that would end many perfect relic runs where its very helpful to see where you are going to land.
I’ll be honest I turned off classic after the N. Tropy Boss fight. Didn’t want to torture myself any longer especially when it comes to collecting the boxes. Glad I’ll never have to do The Crate Escape ever again. Not really because there’s an N. Verted mode. Edit: Just learned about the perfect relics
Mahn, now I'm kinda worried if Toys for Bob does a proper Spyro4. Imagine how insane getting gems could be with secret platforms everywhere or like hidden orbs/dragon eggs/mcguffins will be.
At least it makes a bit more sense for a Spyro game, since those actually were collect-a-thons to begin with. It'd still be absurdly excessive though. It's like they failed to learn from Rare and especially DK64
Could you imagine those little shits running away from you holding dragon eggs and you can't even platform up to him because he too is hidden so you can't even begin to chase them ? Sounds like the things of nightmares
Frankly, all I want from them is a proper sequel to the Ur-Quan Masters, but for legal reasons, I'm probably not gonna get that. On the other hand, Toys for Bob seem like they learn from their mistakes, so a Spyro sequel with lessons learned from this would probably be good. Also, Crash is somewhat known for extreme difficulty in 100%ing the game (though maybe not as extreme as TfB did in this case), where I don't feel Spyro is.
Theres more basic A side crystals in Crash 4 than there are platinum relics in the entire franchise, or in other words, than there are levels in the entire franchise

Donkey Kong 64 was a Nintendo 64 game fighting against the cartridge space limitations, so having so much padded content is to an extent excusable. They wanted the game to be BIG! and it certainly succeeded for its time. It's a product of its time.
I don't know what's more horrifying. How mind breaking this game is to 100% complete. Or the fact that Toys For Bob thought they made the game too easy. No. I am not joking. In an interview with Paul Yan, a developer of Crash 4, Lou Studdart, talked about how the people at Toys For Bob were worried about fans thinking the game was too easy. Good lord, I am horrified at the idea of what they would think the game being too hard is. The interview also talked about how the hidden boxes and inverted mode were introduced because they wanted the game to last longer and have more replayability. And while I get where they're coming from, they went way too overboard with it in this game.

If they made the 5 gems (not the hidden gem) being shared between normal and n.verted, like how the perfect relic is shared between the two, that would reduce the annoyance. Then you can choose which form you want to do the 5 gems in, and you're only required to locate the hidden gem in the n.verted form.

You'd expect Role Playing Games to be 12 hour speedruns, not Platformers....
I mean that doesn't change the first experience with the 100%ing being miserable
I believe the padding is due to the heightened expectations for the first new crash platformer for around a decade and they were worried that if they didn't put a lot of shit in it, people would be like "this wasn't worth it, its too short". Therefore, they overcompinsated.
That explains a lot

Caddy is maddy
but he isn’t a baddy
so aren’t we all gladdy.
Daddy Caddy is Maddy from playing Crash Bandi.
Caddy suffy for viewie.
Can we petition to make that a real thing?
Wow I never realized that this video is as long as a movie.
Caddy went so insane, that he forgot to mention the *bricks!*
the what
@@arlissmith876 it’s a joke he’s been using since the pandemic lockdown, it’s a riff on him going so mad that he begins talking to the bricks outside his house
@@quietdemon8138 oh, either its a joke or he's actually going insane, thanks though
@@arlissmith876 hard to tell really
Poor wife
I love how since the game denies the games between warped and this one exist, Caddy just follows along and says “he’s been dormant for 2 decades”
Its in the game's subtitle:
"it's about time"
So you will definitely need more of those
That quote from persona 5 is a literal requirement for crash 4 jesus
Mm km
@@potater8034 persona 5 stealing from pvz 2 smhhhhhh
@@pogchamp1138 Elaborate.
Wait a minute. Crash 3… the game where they travel through time is called “Warped”. But crash 4 where they warp between between dimensions is called “Its About Time”?
The fact that he hasn't slaughtered any terrible games recently makes me think Caddi is about to go on a bad game murder spree.
Nah, he got rid of not only reviewing single games but also slaughter and salvage.
Somebody get the police or get him to mental hospital
Get rid of the bad game part and you're probably right
@@noelleholiday61 I'm fine with him getting rid of the slaughter or salvage system. But I will miss him reviewing single games. With him doing multiple games in one video with a theme, there isn't much he can do. And because they are on multiple games, the wait is longer
@@teneesh3376 true, the wait is longer, but I kind of enjoy seeing a nice long video where he reviews a bunch of games all at once. Though this Season video's gonna be a real long one

"Somebody better call the chicken coop, cause I got all their eggs!"
Perfect sentence for when you find all the hidden references!
I could’ve sworn the characters eyes in the thumbnail wasn’t glowing red before.
maybe the thumbnail was changed?
Same. It looks off
Part of this game is pretty much the “Sonic Mania” of the crash bandicoot series, where the other part of it is The “Donkey Kong 64” of the crash bandicoot series
And the worst parts of both?
It’s a fusion of a love letter to the franchise like sonic mania and Oh my god this is freaking crazy hard to 106% like Donkey Kong 64
A better comparison, I feel, would be calling the good half "donkey kong tropical freeze".
Funny enough when Caddy was going on about all the collectibles I thought of DK64 as well.
Donkey Kong 64 was a Nintendo 64 game fighting against the cartridge space limitations, so having so much padded content is to an extent excusable. They wanted the game to be BIG! and it certainly succeeded for its time. It's a product of its time.
This video constantly makes me go "The box was there?!"
RIGHT???
28:12 Imagine his neighbors finding this man doing this
I don't know what's more horrifying.
I agree with all of this.
Cash Banooca 4 is a good game I don't blame you.
Woah
Caddy: "Is this game good? Yes."
Time: *15 Minutes into an **1:23:00** video*
Me: "Hahahahahahaha I'm in danger"
"If you demand perfection from me, I demand perfection from you".
I hope one day to have the balls to live my life by those words.
Yeah
Dear God, was this the birth of our beloved Spons??
38:20 I loved that voice edit
This is just showing how evil uka uka is by making you 106% just to see that he is alive in less than 20 seconds
This game's writing feels like a happy middle between Twinsanity and the original trilogy.
This is good.

@Ali Wellll, I sayyyyy that *YOUR* opinion is
"Wroooong."
How do you *feel* about THAT?!
lol
Huh?! xD
As someone who 100% finished Sunshine, that was a walk in the park compared to what 100% completing this will be. I had to watch a video for the blue coins but it wasn't that bad, and the only really bad parts are the Pachinko machine and the mudslide (which I only traveled to once or twice I believe when I missed stuff, after the second time if I missed something I just carefully walked back up using the sides of the slide).
@@Need_RnR shut up you jerk 😒
Hay I love 100% Sunshine as it's just Blue Coins and ShineSprites
Here its Boxes, Gems, Fruit, No Dying, Time Trials it's far to much
So yes I'd say Crash 4 Is the Worse game to 100+%
Super Mario Sunshine is one of my favorite games of all time. However, I completed it 100%, and I deeply hated it. I know I won't be completing Crash 4 106% in my life.
The Caddicarus Bouns Round is the greatest thing of all time.
"Wow, that was a fun game! They really did Crash justice! I wonder what the 100% ending is."
