Ohhhhh the critics were saying “how did she stop him from dying” and I just realized they’re exactly 2 years apart to the day but she managed to get the letter to him maybe an hour or so before he “died” that day two years prior. That makes sense now.
He passed away and only the hope of meeting him was her last resource...Sandra is wonderful and of course Keanu is a dream ❤️

@@jaulloa21 Yes, they were communicating with in a 2 year window through the box, When she warned him to just wait and come to the lake house now, for him two years passed. To her it was seconds
I just watched this movie for the first time wow this was great I literally cried he was dead the whole time I'm glad there was a happy ending
This is movie is so amazing and with Sandra and Keanu in it made is all the better. I wish they had gotten together irl, their babies would have been beautiful.

Watched this movie so many times. Still own the DVD. Ha! Never mind he could see her at the Lake House in finale but not earlier. Or she could see his brother in real time but not him. I don't care. I love the music, the evolution, the class.... Sooo romantic.
The look of utter devastation coming across her face when she finds out his death always leaves me breathless. You can feel the shock and turmoil through the screen. 💔

I watched the Korean version, it's good but this version elevated the movie to another level.

I love Sandra Bullock but I've never seen this movie.
1) SIMON (Alex's father) = THE CYNIC
2) HENRY (Alex's brother) = THE WEAK
3) MORGAN (Kate's boyfriend)= THE LIAR
4) ALEX = THE PROTECTOR (the meaning of the name Alex)
I will try to do the psychoanalysis of Alex's character, because, in my opinion, IN HIM we can also search and find three other main characters in this movie, and this is the main cause why he fails for years to realize his union with Kate (The meaning of the name Kate is THE PURE)
1) Let's start with the father; a FAMOUS man with a strong note of NARCISISM (inevitable side effect of all VIPs = very important people). Simon Wyler looked at others from above, judging ordinary people with cynicism, considering them incapable, of little talent or/and commitment and therefore destined for eternal failure. In other words: MAN who believes himself to be GOD on earth. The wife had to be invisible, submissive and revolve together with the rest of the universe around this self-centered being. Once she rebels against the slavery imposed by her husband, she dies (for him and within him). The fact that he doesn't even show up at her funeral demonstrates that his ego was DEEPLY OFFENDED and incapable of forgiving anyone who opposes his dictatorial rules.
2) Alex's brother, in the film, is eight years younger, he didn't have the courage to oppose his father's authoritarian character. He follows in father's footsteps and the path already prepared, despite being aware of his father's ugly and unbearable character. For this reason we can call him a WEAK, a COWARD; someone who always chooses the easy way out in life, because he doesn't want to put his comfort at risk.
3) The name Morgan associates with the fairy
Morgana, the deity of mirages, visual illusions and anything misleading.
For this reason, when Kate tells Alex to call her, it is Morgan who calls her at that precise moment, giving her the ILLUSION that he is the man Kate is waiting for: THE PROTECTOR that she saw in Alex (the tree that Alex had planted two years earlier it was supposed to protect her from the rain)
Unfortunately, over time, Morgan proves to be a man like everyone else, far from the ideal that Kate had in her head personified by an unattainable Alex.
Morgan is a down to earth man, very pragmatic and opportunistic. He is a FALSE and calculating man that can be seen in the scene where he PRETENDS to want to offer to Kate an expensive and exclusive dinner in a restaurant where he knows full well that there are no free seats. He is also a man focused on physical passion, which makes him a womanizer unable to resist the temptation of any good-looking woman, unlike Alex who is attracted rather by Kate's SPIRITUAL beauty.
Finally, Alex=TRUE LOVE AND PROTECTOR represents an UNACHIEVABLE DREAM for Kate, in the same way that Kate=PURE AND SELFLESS LOVE represents an unattainable goal for Alex who must first undertake the long path of purification from his own EGO (represented in father), WEAKNESS (represented in brother) and FALSENESS (represented in Morgan).
I like that... you're analysis is very good. It makes me love this movie even more.
