I love Caiques, but I know for a fact I'm not ready to be a Caique owner. That's why I love watching all the antics at your place. I'm living the Caique life vicariously through the camera! 😉
I agree with everything you say! I've rescued three caiques and adopted one. I've rescued Amazons, conures, macaws, and parakeets. Parrots are amazing animals. Parrots are amazing pets until they are not.
I was blessed to have a sun conure for 25 years. We were deeply bonded to each other and loved each other dearly. He was sweet, gentle and would never bite me. But he would attack and try to drive off my husband if he ever came into the room while I had Sunny out for some play time. I devoted a great deal of time and effort to Sunny's care and happiness. I never had children so he was my baby. I was heartbroken when he died. I was never tempted to get another parrot because I knew the new bird would never be the same as my special little guy. He was unique and I was blessed to share his life for 25 years. But I agree that having a parrot is not for everyone. Don't do it. It is not fair to the bird if you realize you made a mistake and choose to rehome the bird. Just don't--please.
Its so important to do lots of research before getting a caique! It's flippin awesome that you regularly inform the public about these complex and intelligent animals, and i agree that they are not good companions and should not be pets at all! I really want to make a youtube channel for my Caique and i want to inform the world about how difficult it is to keep them as pets too ❤
I did my research on cockatiel s before I got Ember and I have come to the conclusion that he isn't like anything I have read but I love him anyway 💖💕🥰
And so it's clear I would never re-home or get rid of him Ember is my little buddy I should however say he does come to me play peek a boo he will sit on my fingers and we whistle s and he dances he will squak if he thinks I am gone to long Ember just isn't the cuddle type I I won't force him to do anything he isn't going to like lol sorry so long
I am so jealous Ember doesn't let me give him scritches he isn't like any bird I have seen on you tube say hi to sike for me and Scooby lot's of love from New Jersey and Ember 💖💕🥰💕💖
I have 3 parrots, IRN, Quaker, and a Superb, I have a caique coming, you have scared me now. My caique is supposed to be here the end of July. I have no problem with the commitment, and expense but no bonding huh?
We have plenty of caiques that have bonded with me, and with each other.....but we also have several caiques that simply do not get along with each other, and likely never will 😕 Personally, I would also be cautious with mixed species - whether or not they will get along is also a complete unknown. 🤔
@Providence Meadow Caique Sanctuary I have the 3 and they get along but I do not leave them unattended. They are supervised at all times. I have decided not to get a caique and am getting a Senegal instead. I pick him up on Friday.
Ours is a mess she screams 80% of the day. Learning her behaviors. She’s great. I had a conure for over ten years and decided on a caique and a Hahns, together.
Try whistling or calling back to her - typically, daytime screaming is nothing more than 'contact calling'... She's calling out to her flock and waiting for a response 😉 Having sounds in the background (if you do not already) can also very helpful for this as well 🤔
The Good hard truth that needs to go with the many "cute" Caique videos posted....Learn about parrots, do your research, expenses involved, why so many are rehomed.
I don't understand why you do not give them to people that maybe good owners, in Europe you can get parrots (only in pairs or if you have another bird of the same species already) from animal rescue centres. This also to a certain degree prohibits professional breeding in the long run. Because what is your ultimate goal, to rescue and keep them?
Yes, our goal is to provide them a safe and permanent home, without the stress of poor ownership or being rehomed over and over... We are a sanctuary, and as a sanctuary we do not sell, breed, re-home or foster out our intakes - we are their forever home ❤️
Thank you for this common sense, informative, honest and caring video.

@Providence Meadow Caique Sanctuary my Superb, IRN and quaker get along fine. I am nervous now. I am switching and going to get a sun conure instead.
