Just got one for 141.87 shipped from Midway. I already have the Scout version and it is awesome. I can’t wait for this new beast. I just got a notified it is shipped less than 1 hour from when I ordered it.
I did in fact buy two of these. The first I paid $400 for before discovering them on midwayusa for $190 and bought a second. It wasn't just the price though, I intended to buy a second. I have two custom benchmade 945's in carbon fiber and s90v and a hogue ritter in green g-mascus and magnacut and my first 4-max is still my favorite knife and gets the most pocket time.
I definitely feel like these are factory seconds. I bought one from the website and compared it to one my friend had purchased full price from the cold steel site, and and it does have flaws, similar to things like the back spacer being uneven make me more inclined to believe that these are in fact seconds; perhaps with imperfect heat treats, grinds or some other minor blemish. The one my friend has is flawless, and its post gsm as well.
I remember when you bought this knife few years ago, but you had some issues with the first generation. Still nice..even in this new version...a beast.

You couldn't find information about the liners being titanium? It says so right on the Cold Steel website product page. In fact, the liners, back spacer and pocket clip are all made of titanium. This makes the Elite lighter than the Scout, even with the G10 scales heavier than the plastic in the Scout.
I'm really tempted to get one. Has anyone seen a hard use test of the s35vn on this one? I saw JoeX beat up the 4 max scout and the AUS10 handled everything like a champ, one of the only knives to last through his testing. I'm not sure about the s35vn though. I saw JoeX break a cold steel tanto in s35vn. I'm conflicted, because I don't know if this one is an upgrade in toughness compared to the 4 max scout in AUS10.
Better steels tend to have better edge retention but cheaper steels tend to be softer and thus tougher. However S35vn should be plenty tough enough for regular use. Remember that destruction test is fun and entertaining and a knife is usually still plenty strong enough for normal use if it passes the early stages of a test by Joe! In the real world the hardest thing you probably need to deal with is wood or people 😆. Unless you plan to chop big rocks or metal poles (I'm thinking prison break?), I think you're good either way.
The 4Max Elite is a knife that I'd like to own but I happen to live in Canada. Everything in Canada is expensive under the Trudeau government. As regards MidwayUSA: they do, indeed, offer exceptional prices. Alas, I live in Canada which is considered to be international and Midway does not ship internationally.
This is my first cold steel knife but I do own lots of nice knives and I just received it today and it has a grinding sound like sand when pushing the lock bar down. Is this normal with this knife? Has anyone had the same experience and will it go away when broke in? It’s really beautiful knife but my $40 Boker magnum colossus is way smoother but also has a liner lock. Never bought a high end knife that was this rough maybe stiff but not rough. Any tips or advice?

I own three 4 max , I have two 4 max scout and one S35VN model . I can't understand why this one is so expensive.
the steel and the titanium and g10 are all more expensive materials. Then they add a cool tax on top of that and there you go
